So much for those "game-changing" Russian anti-aircraft batteries.
Israel has broken with its previous policy of ambiguity, and is today saying forthrightly that it has attacked Iranian targets in Syria, and will do so again.
Just days after Israeli officials acknowledged bombing an Iranian weapons storage facility in Damascus, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu warned the Iranians to "get out of there quickly, because we will continue our offensive policy as we promised, and will do so without fear and without pause."
Netanyahu was speaking at the ceremony for the transfer of power from outgoing IDF Chief of Staff Gadi Eisenkot to his successor, Lt. Gen. Aviv Kochavi.
Eisenkot admitted that over the past several years, Israel had dropped "thousands" of bombs on Iranian and Hezbollah targets in Syria, as well as having provided material support to rebel groups in the war-torn country.
Incoming IDF chief Kochavi is also seen as a hawk regarding the situation in Syria. Recent reports suggested that several years ago he advocated assassinating dictator Bashar Assad and toppling the Syrian regime, but that the plan was turned down by Israel's political leadership.
