Back in September, Pope Francis called the Cross of Christ a failure “in human terms.” Many Catholics came swiftly to his defense, saying that his words were taken out of context.
Now he has said this again. This man is obviously trying to drive home a point to the Catholic people, and perhaps the world. What would that point be?
From Pulpitandpen.org
Quote from Pope Francis:
“When you don’t understand something, when desperation hits you then look at the cross. That is the great failure of God, that is the destruction of God, and it’s a challenge to our faith. And this is hope, because history did not end in that failure. Rather it’s in the resurrection of Christ that renewed all of us. I am going to tell you something personal. It’s 12 (o’clock) are you hungry? I am going to tell you something private. In my pocket I always carry two thing: a rosary to pray something which seems odd, this is here is the history of God’s failure, it’s the way of the cross, a small way of the cross, as Jesus suffered and when they condemned him right up to where he was buried with these two things I do the best I can. And thanks to these two things, I never lose hope.”
The cross, according to the Pope, is “the great failure of God.” The way of the cross is “the history of God’s failure,” according to the Pope. [1] – source
God’s Failure?
How dare this man blatantly call the Cross of our Lord Jesus “God’s Failure!?” God makes no mistakes. He does not fail. He is all knowing and all powerful. Does anyone still doubt that we are seeing the False Prophet when we look at this pope?
Let’s look at these Scriptures:
“For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God” (1 Corinthians 1:18).
*The Cross is the Power of God.
“But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us” (Romans 5:8).
*Christ’s death was the ultimate act of Love and Mercy from our Father in heaven.
“I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me” (Galatians 2:20). (Emphasis mine)
*Our lives as believers should reflect the mercy and love shown to us by Jesus on Calvary’s Cross.
“And he that taketh not his cross, and followeth after me, is not worthy of me” (Matthew 10:38).
“Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross” (Colossians 2:14). (Emphasis mine)
*Our sins (every one of them) Nailed to that Cross! Hallelujah! Not a failure, but a great Triumph!
*Jesus showed us ‘Agape’ Love when He willingly laid down His life and went to that Cross for us. He showed us that we should have this kind of love for our brethren.
What the Word says about the Devil
“Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour” (1 Peter 5:8).
“And no wonder, for even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light” (2 Corinthians 11:14).
“Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places” (Ephesians 6:11-12).
“The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly” (John 10:10).
To claim the Cross as “God’s failure” is straight from the pit of hell. Our Lord and Savior came to this earth to die on that Cross. That is the greatest news for mankind – that through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ – God made a way for fallen men and women to be reconciled to Him for eternity!
I pray that many Catholics are searching for the truth because they discern that the words of this pope are bizarre and not based on the Word of God. I have known many Catholics who truly seemed born again, but insisted on remaining in that godless institution – the RCC.
If you are a Catholic and are reading this article, please read God’s Word and compare it to the words of Pope Francis. God will show you that this man is leading many astray. Ask the Lord to show you Truth.
HE is Truth.
MARANATHA
First of all, Pope Francis gave a shout-out to his “Muslim brothers and sisters” when he said this – “I would like to express two sentiments for my Muslim brothers and sisters: Firstly, my greetings as they celebrate the feast of sacrifice.” In case he doesn’t know, Islam clearly teaches that their god, Allah, has no son. None at all. So for a Christian to be a spiritual brother or sister with a Muslim is impossible. The Qu’ran boldly declares that Allah has no son:
“It is not [befitting] for Allah to take a son; exalted is He! When He decrees an affair, He only says to it, “Be,” and it is.” Surah 19:35,36
Pope Francis has been wooing the Muslims into the Vatican tent for sometime now. In November of 2014, he prayed inside a Mosque in Istanbul, in December of 2014 Pope Francis defended Islam as a “religion of peace”, and just a few weeks ago issued the order for all Catholics in Europe to take in Muslim migrants to live with them in their homes.
BUT IT DIDN’T STOP THERE, NOT BY A LONG SHOT. POPE FRANCIS DECLARED THE WORK OF JESUS ON THE CROSS TO BE A FAILURE
Perhaps the most shocking, the most stunning words to ever come out of the Pope’s mouth had to do with him talking about the “failure of the Cross”. What?? It is because of Jesus on the cross, that we have salvation. It is because of the cross that we now have access to the Father and a FULL pardon for our sins. It is because of the cross that Heaven, and not Hell, is our destination. This is what he said:
“THE CROSS SHOWS US A DIFFERENT WAY OF MEASURING SUCCESS. OURS IS TO PLANT THE SEEDS. GOD SEES TO THE FRUITS OF OUR LABORS. AND IF AT TIMES OUR EFFORTS AND WORKS SEEM TO FAIL AND NOT PRODUCE FRUIT, WE NEED TO REMEMBER THAT WE ARE FOLLOWERS OF JESUS CHRIST AND HIS LIFE, HUMANLY SPEAKING, ENDED IN FAILURE, THE FAILURE OF THE CROSS.”
That was it, not another word. You would expect him to say something like “while it appeared to be a failure to His disciples, the cross was actually a victory…” or some such thing. I have heard that preached many times before in church. But the thing is, he didn’t say that. He just simply stated that the life of Jesus on the cross “ended in failure”, which is a complete and total lie. How he could just leave it there, in defeat, to declare the cross a FAILURE and not expound one, tiny bit more is beyond imagination. The Pope, the self-proclaimed “vicar of Christ”, preaching a message of the FAILURE OF JESUS on the cross. Honestly, words fail me at this moment. Truly.
What better way could Pope Francis end a “sermon” whose opening remarks call Christ-rejecting, Hell-bound Muslims our “brothers and sisters”, and whose main point is the “failure of Jesus on the cross”, than by praying to Mary and asking for her blessing:
“Dear brothers and sisters, in a few moments, we will sing the Magnificat. Let us commend to our lady the work we have been entrusted to do. Let us join her in thanking god for the great things he has done…”
You can click here to read the full transcript of this sermon from the pit of Hell, but honestly, why would you want to?
Pope Francis, as far I am concerned, still retains his title of The False Prophet…and then some.

Romans 13:12
Clothe Yourselves with Christ
11Do this, knowing the time, that it is already the hour for you to awaken from sleep; for now salvation is nearer
to us than when we believed. 12The night is almost gone, and the day is near. Therefore let us lay aside the deeds
of darkness and put on the armor of light. 13Let us behave properly as in the day, not in carousing and drunkenness,
not in sexual promiscuity and sensuality, not in strife and jealousy.…

Amen Sister GG :) Wonderful post! By no means am I a fan of the Pope, or the false Catholic "religion", and this Pope is doing and saying some wacky things, but to be fair, the above article is taken out of context. Some folks like to cherry pick, in order to further their condemnation, BUT we have to be truthful, and not let our disdain or anger cause US to sin. The Pope was talking about terrorists, and then the question that we as Believers hear a lot. Where is the Hand of God in tragedies? Especially in the world these days. He was simply pointing to the fact that the Cross APPEARED to be a tragedy, but yet we KNOW it was not with the Resurrection of Jesus. The folks ran with an isolated comment, out of context to be fair...
From the transcript of the Popes "unscripted talk with Kenyan youth" - the words he said before the isolated referenced quote taken out of context...
"Transitory things that end up destroying you. A question Manuel asked. It’s a question that a professor in theology might ask. How can we understand that God is our father, how to see his hand in the tragedies of life, how can we find God’s peace? This question men and women all over the world ask themselves. And they can’t find the reason. And there are some questions that you can turn around in your minds over and over again and never find the answer. How can I see the hand of God in tragedy? I was going to say there’s just one response but no, there’s no response. There is a path. To look at the Son of God. God endured death to save all of us. God became a tragedy. God allowed himself to be destroyed on the cross."

From Franklin Graham today 1/3/16 - so absolutely true...so MANY Christians follow Jesus at a distance, waiting as Franklin said, to see which way the wind blows...
"When Jesus was arrested and taken to be crucified the Bible says, “Peter followed Him at a distance to the high priest’s courtyard. And he went in and sat with the servants to see the end” (Matthew 26:58). Many Christians in America today want to follow Jesus at a distance. They want to give themselves a little room—they want to watch which way the wind will blow before they are publicly seen too close to the Lord. When Jesus is portrayed in a good light or when it’s comfortable, they will stand next to Him. But if Jesus is going to be mocked or cursed or insulted, they want to stay back until they know how things will go. As this new year gets off to a start, it is a good time for each of us to examine the ways in which we may be trying to maintain a little space between us and our Lord. In whatever area of li/fe it may be—don’t keep your distance. Remember, Jesus gives us a warning, “But whoever denies Me before men, him I will also deny before My Father who is in heaven” (Matthew 10:33)."
Philippians 2:13-16
13 For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.
14 Do all things without murmurings and disputings:
15 That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world;
16 Holding forth the word of life; that I may rejoice in the day of Christ, that I have not run in vain, neither laboured in vain.
But the pope didn't say that it APPEARED as a tragedy....He said it was a failure - and that is completely untrue. Period. The cross was NOTa failure. Period. And now he has said to TWICE with an opportunity to clarify or to add context and he did not. He used the exact same phrase, DESPITE the criticisms of his initial comments a few months ago. He could have clarified EACH time and choose not to..Those are the facts
Hi Mrs. C-
I agree with much of what you are saying. I truly believe we are at a time that we all have to decide which master
we will be serving in these last days. I hope I can say this right, as I am lovingly stating my position from a spiritual
stance and Jesus first, is just what I struggle with right now.
IMHO - It takes a lot to be suited up to sort through these articles from all the media sources. I am the first to admit
and humbly; that I am not sure that knowing all we know pouring in daily, - though I know Brother Scott's armour must
be stronger than mine on some days-lol.- is as healthy spirtually as we wait. With lame street, Main Street, alternative,
etc....it all boils down to the source being carnal driven serving mans instead of God driven through his infallible word to
serve our loving God.
We humans are so very egar to follow, understand and are curious all at the same time. IMHO, it seems man is spending its last
days in speculation of what we are to expose; but we truly are walking a fine line of following the lies and deceptions,
thus adding more onto us spiritually, rather than hitting the pause button and asking what is it we really should be doing
for Jesus in these last days.
I am learning that I simply can't serve two masters, period. One is light and strong. The other is draining and weakening
to my journey with Christ. Oddly enough lately, I am getting hammered as to how we are grieving the Holy Spirit. What
is edifying vs worldly? These are all the spiritual battles I am struggling with right now, when we are dim in spirit, we can't
serve as we are supposed to, and the devil wins. We talk about decernment, but if the words we are reading are not good
for our soul, then we just took in another spoonful of untruthfulness, which weakens our wholeness of filling up on his word.
Honestly said, it's like walking around a bunch of corruptible seeds and hoping they don't take root. We all know, what we
put into our eye gates and ear gates affect our mind gate, which comes out our mouth gate giving the wrong message to the
lost or confused.
Your pov is on track from following God first and seeing how man is getting it wrong. I think we have to admit we
are in a world of insurmountable evil hourly. We can't trust man, we must lean on God. The messes are getting
bigger and the lies and deceptions are growing by leaps and bounds hourly to serve mans ego and end game.
What ever the Pope or President has said, imho, clearly shows me it once again is serving self, and praise be to
God for shining the light on the dark places. I am taking news like this and saying " thank you Jesus for reminding
me what is just and true in you, verses another incoming bomb of lies and deceptions that I will not partake in". It
is also showing me now, that I have to limit the amount of darkness I let in for it will be counter productive to what
he needs me to do in these last days.
On the flip side of the issue, for those who are stronger, and better suited up than I; may just be able to go out and
witness to someone about the things going on, but hopefully showing what option B is. This article today made me
want to teather down my straps a little tighter and stomp my foot about, yet another stupid thing, a hurtful thing,
happening around us all. Instead, luckily, today I was strong in my daily walk when I read this, so when I do see
my Catholic neighbor, who does have questions about " why do people say the Catholic Church is a bad thing" -
then, I can take the reasonable points out of the stupid articles, and balance them against what God is saying, no
matter the news. It's almost a bitter sweet walk we are doing right now, while trying to help the lost. I don't believe
God wants us going in so deep that we forget it is all about him first. I hope this makes some sense as to how
frustrating the news is to me, but I am trying to learn from the bad and speak the truth according to God. I am
human too and don't get it right on many days as my emotions instead of logic want to witness first, which is not
what Gid desires for his servants. :)
I am praying that you all stay suited up and in the word daily to get your soul food. We need all the great strength
for Gods team to get us through all this muck, which they call the news.
God Bless!!
GG
Yes indeed Brother Scott, he did make the same statement regarding the Cross several months ago. However, forgive me, but he did make it very clear what he was speaking of then. He without question, stated "humanly speaking" in regard to his previous statement back in Sept. In context,he was speaking of peoples failures regarding fruits of their works when he said it. "Humanly speaking", from a human perspective, from the "worlds" perspective too for that matter. Even Jesus's followers wept at the Cross because they saw the event of the Crucifixion as a "human failure", their Lord was killed before them treated as a common criminal. EVEN after they had walked this Earth with Him, witnessing, knowing He was the Son of God! They were devastated, and hid in fear, believing their "human perspective" and doubting God's divine ability to bring fruitfulness out of something that appears to be a "failure'.
In his recent comment, the pope;s next sentence is the Resurrection, which is the conquering of death and the Cross.
Without question, this pope, as in many others, perpetuate false doctrine, and have also historically done horrendous things. In true fashion, this pope too has said some pretty outrageous things, exposing his false beliefs. "Works" amd the list is endless with Catholicism. We should not be shocked or surprised, as this is just part of the culmination of the Last Days Jesus spoke of...
Very, very well said dear Sister GG :)These are the Last Days which were spoken of without question, and there is an enemy who knows his time is almost up! Because of this, the enemy is throwing all sorts of deceptions out there to see who he can trip up, steel time from, with the goal of taking our eyes off of Jesus during these turbulent times.
Jesus controls the storms, and asks us to look to Him! Remember that Peter began to sink when he took his eyes off of Jesus, but Jesus Saved him. Its all a matter of Trusting God, the worse things get. As Charles Stanley has always said, "be obedient to God, and leave all the consequences to Him". There are many alarming "stories" these days, some true, some so wild that you wonder where folks discernment is. Again, Charles Stanley did a sermon on discernment from the Holy Spirit, that was really good. He spoke of how folks can run with their emotions, their own thoughts, and ignore the prompting of the Holy Spirit to the point that His prompting becomes a whisper to them as they ignore Him. It is at this critical point in all of time, that we need to refer to His Word greatly. If something is concerning us, we need to ask ourselves "What does Gods Word say about this?" Knowing He has great confidence in us to have allowed us to be born into this time, at the edge of all time, what can we do to be good Servants to Him? Above all this craziness, what is most important to Him in these Last Days?
Witnessing, leading the lost to Christ. The lost are in abundance, and many "Christians" are among them regardless of the denomination. Some more obvious than others with the false teachings. Yet Jesus tells us that He will find True Believers even among them. :) Bible Prophecy being fulfilled, is a privilege to Witness. It may pause sometimes, but it is always moving forward.I ask forgiveness a lot for my impatience with false distractions that steel time from folks, because we are so VERY close to His Coming for us. To me, just one major event away. Look up dear Sis, look up...keep your eyes focused on Him :)
