We laugh at the idea that will be used to explain our diappearance, namely that aliens saved the world by removing the "bad" narrow minded people. Unfortunately people are already chosing to believe multiple ridiculous ideas. So I guess in the greater scheme of things this one isn't any more outlandish than say, "I was born that way" or "there are more than two sexes" or "Cow farts" are destroying our planet or "we evolved from monkeys" "or Joe Biden defeated Donald Trump fairly in 2020" You see the list is pretty long already. So aliens snatching us away to reprogram us is a pretty easy sell to the average American.
