EU To Create New "Super-President"
A group of EU foreign ministers discussed the idea of merging the European Union’s top jobs into one on April 19, the EU Observerreports, coining the term “super-president” to describe the new top job.
The jobs of European Council president, currently held by Herman Van Rompuy, and European Commission president, currently held by José Manuel Barroso, may be merged. “The new super-president would also chair General Affairs Councils (gacs)—monthly meetings of foreign ministers which discuss internal Union affairs,” writes the EU Observer. Its source reports that experts believe this can be done without a treaty change.
This is where it gets interesting:
The idea emerged from a meeting of 10 EU foreign ministers organized by German Foreign Minister Guido Westerwelle to discuss closer European integration. Sometimes called the “Berlin Club,” the group usually has 11 members: Austria, Belgium, Denmark, France, Germany, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Poland, Portugal and Spain. The French foreign minister, however, was not able to attend this last meeting.
These ministers see that for Europe to become better integrated it needs a strong central leader. As the euro crisis pushes those nations that are committed to remaining in the euro closer together, watch for this idea to become more popular. Europe knows it needs a strong central leader to respond to the dangers of today’s world.
Ministers Ponder Creation Of EU Super-President
Ideas kicking around in a reflection group of select EU foreign ministers include merging the roles of the EU Council and European Commission presidents.
A senior EU source told this website following a meeting of the club in the Val Duchessestately home in Brussels on Thursday (19 April) that the new supremo would have more power than either Herman Van Rompuy or Jose Manuel Barroso do today but also more "democratic legitimacy" because he or she would be elected by MEPs.
The new super-president would also chair General Affairs Councils (GACs) - monthly meetings of foreign ministers which discuss internal Union affairs.
The reflection group was formed by German foreign minister Guido Westerwelle in Berlin in March. It plans to meet two more times before the summer recess and to circulate a discussion paper at EU27-level in September.
The other countries in the club are: Austria, Belgium, Denmark, France, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Poland, Portugal and Spain. The French minister did not attend Thursday's session, however.
Daily Express Warns Of New Charlemagne
“EU Plot to Scrap Britain” warned the front page headline of Britain’s Daily Express newspaper on May 4. With a circulation of over 550,000, the paper warned its readership that “A covert group of EU foreign ministers has drawn up plans for merging the jobs currently done by Herman Van Rompuy, president of the European Council, and José Manuel Barroso, president of the European Commission.”
“Opponents fear the plan could create a modern-day equivalent of the European emperor envisaged by Napoleon Bonaparte or a return to the Holy Roman Empire of Charlemagne that dominated Europe in the Dark Ages,” it wrote.
The Express article was a powerful warning to Britain and America.
Of course the Express isn’t the first to “reveal” this story. A few English-language outlets covered it a fortnight ago, and the Trumpet wrote about it here and here. A group of around 10 foreign ministers, sometimes called the “Berlin Club” or the “Berlin Group,” plan to meet several more times under proposals put forward by German Foreign Minister Guido Westerwelle. The creation of a new “super president” is just one of their ideas.
* The French representative did not attend the meeting. The three countries in green were not part of the WEU.
This is somewhat complicated. The WEU has had two countries eliminated from this process of selecting the Super-President: Greece and the United Kingdom. In fact, several articles have suggested that the exclusion was purposeful, given that the UK has refused to adopt the Euro and join the Eurozone. We're all aware of the financial problems Greece faces and their membership in the Eurozone tenuous.
Technically, the Berlin Group has 11 countries, and it could just be coincidence that the French representative missed the first meeting. If so, then the number of countries would remain at 11, and as a result could not possibly represent the "10 kings".
However, it will be interesting to watch - to see if somehow the Berlin Group does become reduced to a 10 member group, particularly if the exiting country happens to be a member of the WEU.
In this scenario we would then have a 10 member group (the WEU) who by all accounts is the most powerful group within the EU - morphing into the Berlin Group (which would be a 10 member group who is creating the EU "Super-President" position), by eliminating 3 countries ("kings?) and replacing them.
We still don't know who the biblical 10 kings will be. Personally, despite the above, I tend to lean towards the idea that the world will evolve into 10 "unions", most of which have already formed (see here).
But - this story is compelling and simply cannot be ignored. We have a grouping of 10 powerful nations within the revived Roman Empire creating the most powerful position in the Empire, and in the process, creating the most powerful position in the world.
At the same time, we see the WEU basically transforming into this "Berlin Group" by eliminating two countries, Greece and UK (so far) and adding three more, bringing the total to 11. The elimination of one more (France?) county brings that total to 10.
Stay tuned, this story is evolving and may prove to be quite interesting.

Woo hoo! It is getting quite interesting Scott! I have this impression of a stove burner with a pan of popcorn on it. The burner is on the oil heated and the first kernel is getting ready to expand. As you know the first three or four kernels that pop, you can distinctly hear them explo4e. After that, it goes crazy, everything popping quickly and very difficult to even hear an induvidual kernel pop. I kinda think we are at that first kernel getting ready and rhen all hell breaks lose. Literally!
Keep looking up! Behold the glory! So very close.
Nice observation/analogy Ally. On the edge of my seat. Come Lord Jesus.
right now would be good...:}!!

Scott I'm in (very slight) disagreement with you on this one....it seems (and i use the word seems) that it'll be 10 European nations (at least from the start) that the antichrist will emerge from. it was the 10th and 15th Roman legions that destroyed the temple and those particular legions consisted of Romans, Germans, French.....(Europeans). I believe these 10 nations of European will however, rule the entire earth. just my understand of it tho both senerios are plausible. regardless of who's right I'm sure you'll agree when i say i don't plan to stick around to find out.

I think when folks do what you are doing they are getting more specific than the scriptures dictate. If you are going to start picking the specific legions, then I think you would also have to go to the next level and know where each individual in those legions came from. IOW, where do you stop that process of specificity?
What if all Roman Empire regions had representation from those legions?
The people who destroyed Rome in 70 AD were from the Roman Empire - and in consistent context with Daniel 2, we already know that it will be a general revival of the roman empire.
Additionally, the context in Daniel 9:27 is looking ahead - we know from that scripture that it will be from the same people - and that is simply the roman empire.
I personally think its a mistake to try and identify specific legions, mainly because we don't know the exact representation constituting those legions.
I believe Dan 9:27 is a more general reference to Rome/Roman Empire.
These are very early days WRT the ten kings and the creation of the world president.
I suspect the whole world to be involved in this One World Government. Doesn't the Bible say, 'and he causeth all' to receive the mark (whose names were not found in the book of life)? I'm suspecting it not to just be confined to Europe.
What is coming we know that the world will have a lot on its plate to deal with as found in the various prophecy scriptures and especially detailed by Jesus. The UN has already proven itself 'sleepy' when it comes to making decisions on solutions for world problems. The UN is so useless it couldn't run a choko vine over a brick dunny, so to speak.
One world, one president will give solutions for the people of the world, but boy o boy not in the way they hope.
Just my thoughts
Dave
FWIW, Hal Lindsey and Jack Van Empe have for years...if not decades also pointed to the 1957 Treaty of Rome. :)
Here is an article that Hal wrote for WND, back in 2004 about this very subject...the revived Roman Empire and the EU/WEU
"Late Great Planet Earth" Revisited"
December 16, 2004
“We believe that the Common Market and the trend toward the unification of Europe may well be the beginning of the 10-nation confederacy predicted by Daniel and the Book of Revelation.”

A special happy mothers day tommorrow Mrs C. And to all mums out there.
Dave
Thank you so much Brother Dave :)
and I hope for a special Mothers Day for all the other "mums" out there too! :) Sister Helen, still Praying :)
God Bless!
As i said its just my opinion, truth is i don't know for certain....if i knew for certain that would mean i been left behind. i love to talk about it tho. i find it quite fascinating. as a kid i loved jigsaw puzzles. God in his wisdom gave us the outcome not necessarily the process. i hope my previous post wasn't out of line.
I love how kind we are to each other here! I feel very safe and warm and fuzzy. And thats so hard to do when your standing un the middle of a train track watching a 100 car freight bearing down on you at a high rate of speed. All the while waiting for rescue. You know its coming but not exactly when!
Brother Dave, I have absolutely no idea what you said...brick dunny...so im gonna say kudzu vine over a dirt clod. Lol. If your from the south thats a visual for ya.
I'm with Hart on the I don't plan ti be here part!
I had a weird chance to witness to a 20 something year old today. He had seen some ufo up close a few days ago and they got pictures. I told him a few things and he really opened up to some possibilities. He isn't saved but he's gonna be!!!!! He at least realizes there is a war of good and evil and Jesus is the side you want to be involved with. Thats a start!
Funny that last kid that got saved that I was involved with came around sorta the same way. She had some "ghosts" who were tormenting her and I explained, no ghosts. They are demons. And this kid, on her own, figured out she needed Jesus. Within a couple if hours of research on the internet, she realized that if satans real, then Jesus is real! And she acceoted Jesus at that moment.
Hart - no problem - I have see that POV many times, and its just my belief that its too specific, but of course I'm speculating as well. I believe it was Grant Jeffery who made an interesting case that 9:27 is actually looking ahead to the AC and his time, which gives a context for the revived roman empire. That is somewhat relevant. Like you say, if we know, then we missed the rapture!
Does not make sense Scott >>>>
think about it !!!!
Scripture clearly states that the
AC will uproot the three, NOT the
10 kings replacing on their own.
AND the AC has yet to be revealed.
Please clarify this.
Stephen >>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Also, from the article >>>>>
" The reflection group was formed by German foreign minister Guido Westerwelle in Berlin in March. It plans to meet two more times before the summer recess and to circulate a discussion paper at EU27-level in September. "
so it appears that this will take
UNTIL SEP 2012 or later to get
approved ??
I think so, unless it got accelerated.
Stephen >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
STEPHEN - thats an excellent question, one I have been pondering for a while....These thoughts are just forming, so bear with me.
OK....We know from Daniel 7 than the AC will "uproot" three of the ten kings as he rises to power. ....
We all accept that, as it is obvious from the scriptures.
SO....If that is the case, why is he ruling the world with 10 kings in Revelation - as shown in Rev 17 ?
AT that point (well after his initial rise to power) - why aren't we reading about the 7 kings, rather than the 10 kings?
See the point?
Is it possible that the 3 that get uprooted are indeed replaced by 3 later in time, making it therefore 10 kings that he rules with during the Trib?
Or, does this "uprooting" or "subduing" simply weaken 3 of the 10 kings (that were already in existance) and the same 10 who started the process remain in power, but three are weakened instead of 'eliminated' ....That could be
This is something worth digging and some research.
But I have never really considered why the book of Revelation is still talking about 10 kings when 3 should have been uprooted/subdued as the AC was rising to power .....Could the three who are subdued get replaced, keeping that number as 10 during the Trib?
Food for thought
It may very well be that the AC
keeps them on in the 10 formation,
BUT has control over them since
they were like naughty little kids that needed to be taught a lesson
from the AC...???
That is SURELY possible.....
Stephen >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Having said all of this - I still find it hard to believe that this group will actually represent the 10 kings, but it is compelling to watch and it is a huge coincidence if not.
I believe A Fruchtenbaum sees a world dominance by the revived roman empire before the formation of the 10 kings, but I need to double-check that. This would be another argument against this group representing the 10 kings. Still, we have to watch this anyway, as we don't know for sure.
Awww....Sister, (Mrs C)
You brought tears to my eyes on this "Mother's Day" morning. Thank you so much....and I am praying for all blessings from heaven on you too. I just know we will see each other real soon. :)
I don't know if it is posted elsewhere on the blog, but Grant Jeffrey went home to be with the Lord on Friday night.
