Japanese folklore says that when these long, serpentlike silver oarfish or rare deep-sea moonfish emerge from the depths, a major earthquake is imminent or it could be a sign of bad luck.
Carcasses of a giant oarfish and a huge moonfish were found decomposing in the Philippines just a day after a deadly M6.6 earthquake shook the country.
And this probably not a coincidence, but more like some signs of the Endtimes.
Delighted fishermen say they couldn’t believe their luck after discovering a rare deep-sea Moonfish floating after an earthquake. But they have been warned that the huge discovery could be a sign of bad luck.
They stumbled upon the 65-kg fish in Eastern Samar, after a powerful and deadly M6.6 earthquake hit a few hundreds km away in the Philippines on August 18, 2020.
The delighted fisherman, however, worried that the rarely-seen fish could be a sign of tragedy.
“I do not know what plague will come. We fishermen believe that if we catch a strange fish, something bad will happen.“
The Moonfish, or Opah, is a deep-water species usually found 500 meters below the ocean’s surface. And the earthquake had probably disturbed the rare fish.
A dead oarfish washed ashore in a coastal village in Gingoog City, Misamis Oriental in Northern Mindanao on Thursday morning, August 20 – so just a day after the deadly M6.6 earthquake.
The oarfish spanned a length of 3.2 meters.
Like Moonfish, oarfish are just among marine creatures that thrive in the deepest parts of the ocean.
Some locals believed sightings of their dead bodies on coasts are signs of an incoming earthquake or just a bad omen…
