Netanyahu agrees to 1967 border for Palestinian state
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has agreed to restart peace negotiations with the Palestinians using the pre-1967 borders as a baseline for a final status peace agreement, according to Israeli media.
Officials in Netanyahu's office told various newspapers that the proposal is actually a package deal that also requires the Palestinians to recognize Israel as a Jewish state, something the Palestinian leadership has vehemently refused to do.
Below we get a hint as to what may going on:
Israelis see the Palestinian refusal to recognize Israel as a Jewish state as evidence that the Arabs intend to continue the struggle against Israel even after a supposedly "final status" deal is signed.
But the Palestinians have also been criticizing Israel for years over its refusal to base a peace deal on the pre-1967 lines, and so will have trouble brushing off that offer without appearing insincere in their commitment to peace.
If you actually go to the link, you will find the following comment, which I believe characterizes this situation: "I think he is playing high stakes poker here...knowing the PLO will never recognize Israel."
My thoughts as well, but this is a very risky game, and the stakes are very high.
It appears that Mr Netanyahu may be attempting to highlight that very fact - the fact that the "PA" refuses to recognize Israel's right to exist (the absurdity of that whole concept is a story for another day). But the "PA", now dominated by Hamas, is very capable of agreeing to such a statement while plotting an attack against Israel.
More below:
Israel has always been careful to not officially accept the pre-1967 borders because that is not what the UN Resolution 242 originally intended, and because doing so would surrender the Jewish claim to Judea and Samaria. It is for precisely that reason that the Palestinians want Israel to publicly accept the pre-1967 lines, and Netanyahu could be setting Israel up for trouble by doing so.
That represents yet another concern.
There is concern that Netanyahu feels trapped and that he must make such an offer with the Palestinians threatening to unilaterally seek international recognition for a Palestinian state at the UN in September.
The UN General Assembly is certain to vote in favor of a Palestinian state, and though the decision would not be legally binding, it would create a very sticky situation for Israel. By making this new offer regardign the pre-1967 borders, Netanyahu and the Obama Administration hope to head off the Palestinian UN bid and convince Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas to drop it all together.
One thing is for sure. If Israel does end up allowing for a return to the 1967 borders, or something similar, at invasion would be imminent. Historically, the surrounding Arab groups have seized upon such opportunities in short-order.
The last statement in this article may be the most significant:
Israel has taken what it likes to see as "bold risks" for peace in the past, such as the 2005 Gaza withdrawal. But, like with Gaza, all have so far proved to be bad risks that only increased the pressure and demands on Israel.
Why is that always forgotten?
At the same time, we appear to be seeing a notable increase in rockets launched into Israel, as yet another long-range rocket was fired into Israel:
Palestinian Grad rocket explodes near Kiryat Gat
A long-range Grad rocket fired from Gaza landed in open territory in Lachish, near Kiryat Gat.
A police bomb squad is in the area and is searching for the location of the rocket.
The attack represents an escalation in the firing of longer-range rockets. The last time such rockets were fired at Israel was in March, when a number of projectiles landed in the Ashdod and Lachish area, and schools in the area were closed.
Also Wednesday night, a Grad rocket fell near Ashkelon. Police said the rocket landed within Ashkelon city boundaries and damaged a road.
Today we also see another story regarding the plan for "PA Statehood":
Arab League finalizing PA statehood application for UN
Representatives of the Arab League were scheduled to meet in Doha, Qatar on Wednesday night to lay the final touches on the Palestinian Authority’s application to the UN for recognition of a Palestinian state on the pre-1967 lines.
The meeting comes as the PA leadership in Ramallah continues to face pressure from the US and EU to abandon its statehood plan and return to the negotiating table with Israel.
When the application is completed, it will be handed over to the UN secretarygeneral so he could bring it before the General Assembly in September, a PA official said.
“The Americans and some Europeans are calling us almost every day and asking that we drop the plan. But it’s too late now and they must know that the ball is in the Israeli court.”
The situation seems to be picking up momentum, and Netanyahu may have blinked first. One wonders if this is what the PA has had in mind all along - forcing Netanyahu to concede the 1967 borders and then agreeing to the simple demand of "recognizing" Israel as a nation.
It wouldn't be the least bit surprising to see the PA agree to these terms and then turn around and participate in yet another invasion of Israel. Attacking Israel with access through the West Bank and presumably the Golan Heights would present the most optimal situation since....1967.
We should watch this story closely.

Stephen, i have heard before the our President does have a Jewish background, traced through his mother.
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure of the validity of the person that told me this. I did a quick google search and did find this article. The Jewish blood line is traced via the mother.

Regarding Elenin by any other name and Mammon in all guises.
ReplyDelete2John1:7 For many deceivers are entered into the world, who confess not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an antichrist.
LOOK to Jesus – not to His heavenly creation or the world’s security, which is Babylon’s idol’s ‘head’ of fine Gold.
LOOK away from that which is causing apprehension in some, and great fear in many others. They do not teach Christ has come in human flesh to save the lost and give LIFE and HOPE inducing FAITH in those who have LOOKED to Him.
Don’t be blinded by ‘science’; it is being used by a manipulating, fear inducing spirit of anti-christ that is capturing the ‘eye’ and pulling 100% attention away from Jesus.
For God is a jealous God.
Don’t just mouth His Word with lip-service. BELIEVE and APPLY it to every part of your life.
Proverbs 3:6 TRUST in The Lord with ALL your heart – and DO NOT LEAN TO YOUR OWN UNDERSTANDING. In ALL your ways acknowledge Him and He WILL direct your paths.
Having one eye on the world is friendship with the world. This is idolatry, and enmity with God. James 4:4.
Matt6:22 The eye is the lamp of the body; so then if your eye is clear, your whole body will be full of light.
23 But if your eye is bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the light that is in you is darkness, how great is the DARKNESS!
24, "No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to one and despise the other. You CANNOT serve God and wealth” (That includes ANYTHING to do with the world and its many Christ-less ideas and fears).
34 "So do not worry about tomorrow; for tomorrow will care for itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.
LOOK to Jesus – keep your eyes FIXED on Him. Ponder His promises and continuously apply them to your life.
Hello AM
ReplyDeleteFallen Judaism today uses the mother to establish who is a Jew.
The Bible ALWAYS uses the father.
A/c will be the last Gentile ruler of this world! When Jesus returns, and like a stone smites the feet of the Idol of Nebuchadnezzar; all that is Gentile and Mammon will be smashed to dust.
Jesus will set up His 1000yr Kingdom rule in physical Israel and the new gentile nations shall be ruled by the new Jewish Israel with their Messiah Yeshua.
Dear AM >>>>
ReplyDeletethanks for the info.
I am NOT sure what expected is trying
to say, quite confused by their comments, well, whatevers....
BUT I AM CONVINCED THAT THE AC
MUST BE SOMEONE ACCEPTABLE TO
JEWS, IF NOT, THEN WHY WOULD THEY
BOTHER TO DO A PEACE TREATY WITH
HIM RIGHT ??
I guess we will have to see what
transpires with the 7 year deal
coming up and WHO confirms it.
Expected, I HOPE you are reading
scripture and REALIZE FULL WELL
THAT JESUS WILL NOT BE BACK
FOR THE CHURCH until the AC is
revealed.
2 THESS 2
Stephen in Hawaii !!!!
Stephen said “Expected, I hope you are *READING SCRIPTURE* (singular) and realise full well that Jesus will not be back for the Church until the AC is revealed.” (*My emphasise*)
ReplyDeleteBUT, are you reading the ScriptureS? It would appear not! After all our futile efforts with you on this ONE verse from the ScriptureS Stephen; I am keeping my pearls to myself.
2Thess2 is NOT what my comment is referring to. We ALL need to be fixing our eyes on the Son of God at this perilous time; focusing on a/c and his deceiving policies is part of the gross darkness being perpetuated by the very real spirit of a/c. Those who promote him and his works are one of many anti-christ’s according the following Scriptures.
1John2:15 Do not love the world nor the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him.
16. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh and the lust of the eyes and the boastful pride of life, is not from the Father, but is from the world.
17. The world is passing away, and also its lusts; but the one who does the will of God lives forever.
18. Children, it is the last hour; and just as you heard that antichrist is coming, even now many antichrists have appeared; from this we know that it is the last hour.
The point is my friend – we need to be reading AND applying ALL the ScriptureS into our daily walk with Jesus. It is apparent that you require a hefty dose of ‘Three In One’ oil of The Holy Spirit applied to your ‘gears’; you seem to be rusted into a one verse theology and cannot progress any further.
The will of the Father is for everyone to accept the free gift of salvation by believing in Jesus to save AND, that when we are saved, we then believe and act upon EVERY word that proceeds from the mouth of God. If we say we love Him, but do not obey His Word in the Scripture’S (plural) – then the Truth is not in us.
If you deny this statement, then please use a concordance to search and compare Scripture with Scripture and prove me wrong.
The Lord will not strive with man indefinitely...
Stephen said “BUT I AM CONVINCED THAT THE AC
ReplyDeleteMUST BE SOMEONE ACCEPTABLE TO
JEWS, IF NOT, THEN WHY WOULD THEY
BOTHER TO DO A PEACE TREATY WITH
HIM RIGHT ??”
WRONG!
It is a fact of history that the Jews have done many deals with non Jews – e.g. Arafat ad infinitum.
The verse in Daniel states ‘strengthen a covenant’ – that suggest one which already exists, not a ‘peace treaty’ per se; that is an assumption.
To all who come here, while we are to witness to others, there comes a point where we have to move on even from a brother. Stephen will believe what he believes. Countless times has the Holy Spirit guided us to witness to him here but to no avail. Remember God doesn't cause some one to misunderstand scripture but He will use that person to help us prepare our witness by driving us deeper in to scripture understanding more in depth His word. I believe now with that understanding it is time to quit witnessing to Stephen and just accept this is what he believes. We take up to much of God's precious gift of time trying to reach ears that won't hear. I choose just to love him through this and gladly give Him over to the Almighty, whom he obviously loves. The lesson is learned so let's get on with witnessing to those God brings along our way. Stephen I say all of this because I feel that the Holy Spirit is guiding me to. Peace brother!
