Strong M6.0 earthquake hits Bali Sea, Indonesia


A strong and shallow earthquake registered by the USGS as M6.0 hit Bali Sea, Indonesia at 16:49 UTC on September 30, 2025. The agency is reporting a depth of 13.9 km (6 miles). EMSC is reporting M6.0 at a depth of 20 km (12.4 miles).  

The epicenter was located 33 km (20 miles) SE of Kalianget (population 23 897), 43 km (26 miles) SE of Sumenep (population 84 656), and 55 km (34 miles) N of Panji (population 42 789), East Java, Indonesia.

178 000 people are estimated to have felt strong shaking, 1 205 000 moderate and 25 250 000 light.
