Hamas' armed wing has claimed responsibility for multiple attacks on Israeli troops and vehicles in recent hours in northern Gaza, specifically in the Shujayea neighborhood of Gaza City, which the Israeli army invaded last week.

In addition, the group said it fired a SAM 7 missile at an Israeli Apache helicopter in Shujayea airspace, without saying whether the helicopter was hit or not.

It also claimed to have fired rockets at Israeli positions near Gaza City and to have successfully hit three Merkava tanks with anti-tank explosives.

The Al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas, announced that today, Thursday, it ambushed an Israeli force in the Shujaiya neighborhood, east of Gaza City, and targeted tanks in the same area, while "Israeli occupation forces committed new massacres against civilians".

The Al-Qassam Brigades said in a statement via its Telegram app that its fighters clashed with members of the IDF, leaving behind dead and wounded. Reports are of at least one dead and 17 injured.

For the second day in a row, fighting between the IDF and Hamas forces took place in the Shujaiya neighborhood of Gaza. Those close to Hamas speak of widespread Israeli casualties in the last week.

As fighting continued in the Shuja'iya neighborhood, the Al-Qassam Brigades announced that their fighters today targeted two “Merkava 4” tanks with “Al-Yassin 105” howitzers. The Yassin 105 projectile, which was revealed on October 29, 2023, was reportedly developed by Hamas engineers from the Research and Industry Unit. It was first used against Israeli armored personnel carriers and Merkava tanks during the Israeli operation in the Gaza Strip.

For its part, the Al-Quds Brigades announced that its fighters detonated a "Thaqib" barrel bomb at an Israeli military vehicle in the Central District area. Also, in cooperation with Al-Qassam fighters, hit an Israeli Merkava with a high-explosive barrel bomb. They also announced that its fighters bombarded positions of Israeli army forces with mortars.

Elsewhere, Al-Qassam announced that it targeted the headquarters of the Israeli army's operations command near the "Nahal Oz" site in the Gaza Strip with "Rajum" rockets and 107 mm rockets. The Rajun missile weighs 2-3 kg and has an operational range of 15-17 km. Up to 20 rockets can be launched in one burst.

For their part, the Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades released a video clip targeting Israeli civilians, infiltrating the Swedish village, west of Rafah, again with 107 mm rockets and mortar shells.

According to the announcement, three other soldiers of the battalion were seriously injured in the same battle.

The latest death brings the Israeli military's death toll since the outbreak of the Israel-Hamas war on October 7 last year to 676 officers and soldiers, 322 of whom have been killed since the start of ground operations in the Gaza Strip on October 27. Another 4,049 Israeli officers and soldiers have been wounded since the start of the war, including 2,057 during the ground operation, according to the figures.
