The developments come on the heels of Israeli Defense Minister Gallant speaking overnight with U.S. Secretary of Defense Austin.
Overnight, Minister of Defense Yoav Gallant held a call with U.S. Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin, reported the IDF press office.
It is likely Israel informed the Americans of any coming operation, as the political situation in the United States for the Biden administration remains dire with waning Muslim and youth support from the Democrat coalition over the Gaza issue The two officials also discussed the recent deaths of aid workers in Gaza by Israeli operations.
At the onset of the discussion, Minister Gallant briefed the Secretary on the tragic incident that resulted in the deaths of seven World Central Kitchen employees. In this regard, he emphasized that a thorough and transparent investigation is being conducted and that its conclusions will be shared with partners, and lessons will be implemented by the defense establishment. Minister Gallant expressed sorrow and condolences to all those affected by the incident, and emphasized his commitment to working closely with partner countries and organizations to facilitate the distribution of humanitarian aid. In this regard, Minister Gallant raised a series of measures that are currently being assessed in order to expand the influx and distribution of aid in Gaza.
