Hospitals across China, the nation where the COVID-19 pandemic first emerged about four years ago, are grappling with a significant surge in respiratory illnesses among children. This primarily is being seen in Beijing and the northern regions.
The rise in cases has been making headlines in China and raising concerns internationally, as Chinese doctors are working overtime to care for a huge flood of small patients.
CHINA has brought back masks and social distancing in a chilling echo of lockdown as they battle a mystery pneumonia outbreak four years on from Covid.
Alarming footage has emerged of mask-wearing crowds inside Chinese hospitals as fears of a new pandemic sweep across the globe.
Areas in the north of the country such as Beijing and Liaoning have been hit the hardest, with reports emerging last week that hospitals are being overwhelmed with sick children.
Why is China implementing such extreme measures if there is no reason for concern?
According to a British news source, many of the children that are showing up at Chinese hospitals have developed what is known as “white lung syndrome”…
A common bacterial infection called mycoplasma pneumoniae has circulated since May but is now showing ground glass opacity in lung scans – an indicator of severe respiratory illness.
Also known as “white lung syndrome”, many parents are deeply worried and are having to wait at least a day just for emergency care.
There aren’t enough doctors to care for all of the kids that are severely ill, and that is extremely alarming.
I was hoping that this crisis would be limited to China, but now large numbers of children in Europe are suddenly developing pneumonia too…
Cases of pneumonia in children are rising in Europe as a second country reports an uptick in the deadly respiratory disease.
The Netherlands Institute for Health Services Research (NIVEL) has reported that 80 out of every 100,000 children in the country between ages five and 14 came down with pneumonia last week.
If Europe follows the same path that China has, we may have a new global health crisis on our hands.
And it looks like the U.S. has been affected as well.
According to Fox News, hospitals in the Washington D.C. area are also “seeing an uptick in sick visits” from patients that have developed respiratory conditions…
