Wars, Rumors Of War And Preparation For Wars Dominate The News: One Day Of Headlines Is Shocking

Russian lawmaker threatens missile strikes on Alaska, as Sen. Lindsey Graham appears to praise US dollars spent killing Russians

A Russian lawmaker suggested the country launch a pre-emptive missile attack on Alaska in a television segment that surfaced just as Senator Lindsey Graham appeared to say Russian deaths from United States’ funding to Ukraine was “the best money we’ve ever spent.”

Duma Deputy Andrey Gurulyov said there were missiles stationed near the US “quite capable of scouring Alaska to the ground,” and that Russia should move with them instead of waiting for aggression from its enemies to attack.

“We have a strategic nuclear force that holds America’s territory. Let me remind you, there’s Alaska across the strait,” he said, before listing off a number of different types of missiles Russia had at the ready. “It doesn’t take much, a couple of brigades will suffice,” he added.

NATO Will Hold Its Biggest Air Exercise In History This Summer

The exercise is known as Air Defender 2023 and will be a massive training opportunity and show of force as war rages in Ukraine.

The largest NATO air exercise since the alliance’s founding in 1949 will be taking place this summer, and the U.S. Air National Guard (ANG) will be providing nearly half of the airpower slated to participate. As for how that show of force may be perceived by global threats like Russia as war rages on in Ukraine, senior ANG officials have said they can “take away whatever message they want.”

Both AD23 and Defender 23 come as the conflict in Ukraine drags on, over a year after Russia’s full-scale invasion of the country in February of 2022. The war has led many countries, namely those that share the same continent with Russia, to make notable efforts to overhaul their militaries, bolster training and readiness, reevaluate their national defense strategies, and increase their budgets to up weapons procurement and modernization.

Russian Armed Forces Able to Respond to Training of Ukrainian Pilots to Fly F-16 - Lavrov

The Russian armed forces have the ability to respond to the intention of Western countries to train Ukrainian pilots to fly F-16 fighter jets, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said on Monday.

"As for Denmark and the Netherlands and their intention to be at the forefront of those who train Ukrainian pilots on Western aircraft, well, there is, first of all, a desire to please the hegemon. These countries are actively pursuing Washington’s line in European affairs. As for our reaction, I have no doubt that our armed forces have the ability to respond to this," Lavrov told reporters during his visit to Kenya.

Kosovo Tensions May Lead to ‘Huge Explosion’ in Europe

"A huge explosion may happen in the center of Europe … The situation is alarming, but the West has set a course for the total subjugation of everyone who somehow expresses their own opinion,” Lavrov told reporters during his visit to Kenya.
Last week, Kosovar police used force to install ethnic Albanian mayors in northern Kosovo following elections in April that were boycotted by the vast majority of voters. The elections were declared valid despite a voter turnout of less than 3.5%. Serbia's National Security Council then accused KFOR of inaction. Serbia put its forces on full combat alert and moved them close to the border after Kosovar police cracked down on peaceful anti-government demonstrators.

Russian Forces Strike at Ukrainian Airfields - MoD

The Russian military has launched missiles at Ukrainian airfields and hit command posts and aviation equipment, the Defense Ministry said on Monday.
"Last night, the Russian armed forces launched a group strike with long-range precision air-launched weapons against enemy targets at airfields. The purpose of the strike was achieved,” the ministry said, adding that command posts, radar posts, aviation equipment and weapons storage facilities were targeted.

Stationing Tactical Nuclear Weapons in Belarus Meant as Containment Measure - Minsk

Deployment of tactical nuclear weapons in Belarus is a necessary step to contain the West so that it does not cross the last "red line," Alexander Volfovich, the secretary of Belarus's Security Council, said on Sunday.
He argued that the developments in Belarus' neighboring countries, primarily Poland, indicate that an offensive armed group is being formed.
"One of the elements of strategic deterrence in military terms is, of course, nuclear weapons. The West has simply left Belarus with no other way," said Volfovich told the ONT broadcaster.

IRGC Navy Chief Tells US to Get Out of Persian Gulf as Tensions Surge

The Islamic Republic has amassed an array of homegrown defense systems to monitor and secure the waters off its home shores, including advanced long-range cruise missiles, radar and sonar equipment. Last month, the Iranian Navy announced that it had forced a US ballistic missile submarine to surface as it tried to sneak through the Hormuz Strait.
The United States is “damn wrong” to operate warships in the Persian Gulf, and Iran has “no alternative but to stand and resist” or face the crushing hegemony of outside powers, Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Navy commander Alireza Tangsiri has said.
