Russia’s ex-president Dmitry Medvedev, said on Saturday, May 27, that the West “does not fully realize the threat of nuclear war.” Speaking after the transfer of parts of Russia’s tactical nuclear weaponry to neighboring Belarus on the Ukraine border, he said: “There are irreversible laws of war. If it comes to nuclear weapons, there will have to be a pre-emptive strike.”
Medvedev is a trusted confidant of President Vladimir, close enough to act as the presidential seat-warmer when Putin was between elections. He currently serves as deputy chair of the national security council.
He went on to say that if Ukraine were to resort to nuclear weapons, they would find [Russian] nuclear-tipped missiles flying against them. “The Anglo-Saxons do not fully realize this and believe that it will not come to this, but it will under certain conditions.”
Medvedev predicted this war going on for tens of years since “negotiations with the clown Zelensky are impossible.”
The foreign ministry in Moscow dismissed President Joe Biden’s condemnation of the transfer of Russian tactical nuclear weapons to Belorus. “Interestingly,” the spokesman commented: “This critique comes from America who for many years has maintained tactical nuclear weapons in Europe.”
Western intelligence estimates that the Russian nuclear arsenal numbers some 2,000 tactical weapons including bombs, missiles with tactical nuclear warheads and artillery shells of the same consistency.
