Israel Should Attack Tehran, Says Top Government Minister

Israel’s economy minister and the former mayor of Jerusalem, Nir Barkat, told Channel 14 News at the weekend that it was time to adopt the policy of former US President John F. Kennedy in regards to rocket attacks on the Jewish state.

Barkat noted that during the Cuban missile crisis of 1962, Kennedy warned that a single missile fired from Cuba toward the United States would result in an American missile strike on Moscow.

The Americans knew who was really pulling the strings, and weren’t going to waste time getting into a slugfest with proxy forces.

Israel, insisted Barkat, needs to start doing the same in response to rocket attacks from Lebanon and Gaza.

It’s Iran pulling the strings, so why waste time, resources and political capital on operations against Hezbollah and Hamas? That’s just what the ayatollahs want.

Instead, Barkat suggested that the next rocket from either of those territories should result in an Israeli missile hitting Tehran.

Hezbollah readies for war

Meanwhile, Israeli media published clips of Hezbollah forces holding a large-scale military training maneuver on the Israel-Lebanon border.

The exercise included Hezbollah’s significant rocket forces, as well as ground forces consisting of small, agile vehicles.

Israeli analysts have warned that in a future conflict with Hezbollah, the Lebanese terrorist militia will try to penetrate the border and make lightning raids on Israeli towns in the north of the country. It could even try to occupy smaller towns or villages before the IDF can be full mobilized, and hold the local population hostage.
