Former Israeli Ambassador to the US predicts Israel will 'take its destiny into its hands' with Iran

"This situation is very similar to what existed over 50 years ago, on the eve of the Six Day War when Israel was surrounded by Arab armies," said Oren.

Former Israeli Ambassador to the U.S. Michael Oren said that it is very likely that Israel will act on its own if necessary to preempt Iran from further developing their nuclear weapons capability.

"With all the terrible moral decisions at stake, I would think that Israel will take its destiny into its hands," Oren said on Wednesday's edition of the "Just the News, No Noise" TV show.

Oren explained that this situation was very similar to the Six Day War in 1967.

"This situation is very similar to what existed over 50 years ago, on the eve of the Six Day War when Israel was surrounded by Arab armies," said Oren. "None of those armies fired a shot at Israel. But Israeli leaders understood that if there was a terrorist attack, and Israel wanted to respond to the terrorist attack, that all those armies would jump on us."

He explained that if Iran is getting to the point of having nuclear capability, it will be a big issue for other countries, not just the United States and Israel.

"If Iran has a nuclear capability, and there's a terrorist attack from Lebanon  we go to defend ourselves and Iran is going to shoot a nuclear weapon at us," Oren explained.

"In '67 Israel basically started the war," he continued. "No one shot at us. We destroyed the Egyptian air force first. So it's a very similar situation to June 1967. Now in 2022, the stakes in some ways are even higher. I think Israel is going to have to make some very serious and fateful decisions."
