'Blood Moon' Over The U.S. On Election Day

'Blood Moon' Will Rise Over America on Election Day

Is it an Election Day red wave that reaches all the way into space?

Not quite, but as the polls in Eastern states such as New York state open Tuesday, the moon will be glowing red in the sky as a rare “blood moon” occurs.

To be clear, the phenomenon has nothing to do about the circumstances of any political party’s message being in alignment with the mood of the voters.

As noted by CBS, a “blood moon” takes place as part of the final phase of a total lunar eclipse, which is when the sun, Earth and moon all line up just right so that the Earth passes between the sun and moon, putting the moon in Earth’s shadow.

The eclipse will begin at 3:02 a.m. Eastern Time (that’s Standard Time because clocks go back Sunday).

The “blood moon” phase when the moon appears to be blood red will take place between 5:17 a.m. to 6:42 a.m. Eastern time, according to NASA. Pacific Time skygazers might see some reddish color as late as 4:49 a.m.

NASA said that depending on the cloud cover, the sky show can be seen from North and Central America, Colombia, and western portions of Venezuela and Peru. Folks who stay up overnight in Alaska and Hawaii to see the show can watch all the stages, NASA said.

There’s no telling how red the moon will get.

“The more dust or clouds in Earth’s atmosphere during the eclipse, the redder the Moon will appear,” NASA said

  1. Hi Scott,

Can you please explain the significance of blood moon and the purpose for your posting the article?

  2. Also, it is important to look at the rest of what Jesus says in Matthew 24, which is known as the Olivet Discourse. The possible eclipse is just one of several signs that Jesus mentions. Here is the whole of verse 29: “Immediately after the distress of those days ‘the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light; the stars will fall from the sky, and the heavenly bodies will be shaken.’” People pick up on the dark sun and moon, but they tend to ignore the stars falling and the planets shaking. Also, Jesus specifies that this sign will come “immediately after the distress,” a reference to the abomination of desolation in verse 15. This will be a time when “there will be great distress, unequaled from the beginning of the world until now—and never to be equaled again” (verse 21). In fact, so terrible is that time that, “if those days had not been cut short, no one would survive” (verse 22). This is no regular eclipse that Jesus speaks of but one that occurs in the middle of the tribulation with a multitude of other signs. It will be the worst time of trouble the world has ever seen.

  3. Is an eclipse a sign of the end times?

  4. What is the relevance of the eclipse over the U.S. on Election Day?

  5. There are two significant and very real dangers associated with the hype surrounding the total lunar and solar eclipses this year and next. The first danger is that because biblically the Rapture really could occur at any moment, many could be caught unawares if they think they can legitimately wait until the Feast of Trumpets on September 28, 2015, to do something about their spiritual condition.

The second danger is that if these predictions fail, as have all others in the past, for how many will this be the last straw—with the result that they decide to have nothing more to do with prophecy teachers, with the Bible, or even with God? Because of disillusionment and the resulting skepticism, many could easily fall into the trap described by the Apostle Peter in his second letter:

Knowing this first: that scoffers will come in the last days, walking according to their own lusts, and saying, “Where is the promise of His coming? For since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of creation.” (2 Peter 3:3–4)[34]

  8. From GotQuestions article: "In fact, so terrible is that time that, "if those days had not been cut short, no one would survive" (Mt 24:22). This is no regular eclipse that Jesus speaks of but one that occurs in the "MIDDLE" of the Tribulation with a multitude of other signs. It will be the worst time of trouble the world has ever seen."

I disagree with GotQuestions statement above which claims it being in the MIDDLE of the Tribulation period.
Note these verses speak of a multitude of sign events heralding the SECOND Coming of Christ. These signs will occur at the END of the Great Tribulation which is the last 3 1/2 yrs of the Tribulation period.

Mt 24:29 "Immediately after the distress of those days 'the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light; the stars will fall from the sky, and the heavenly bodies will be shaken.
vs 30 then will appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven, and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the Son of man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory"

  9. Scott, you say you don't think there is any specific relevance. I don't understand what you mean by it.
