The situation in Kazakhstan remains tense after the country was hit by a wave of protests, triggered by fuel price hikes. In Almaty, Wednesday demonstrations turned violent, with people attacking police and storming the mayor's office, old presidential residence, and other facilities.

A shootout is underway in Republic Square in central Almaty, a Sputnik correspondent reported on Thursday. At least 50 vehicles surrounded over 200 rioters in the city, and the military cut them off from the mayor's office and other compounds. According to the correspondent, there have been at least 10 gunshots, but it wasn't the troops who fired them.

Mass protests in Kazakhstan began in the early days of 2022. The residents of Zhanaozen and Aktau opposed a two-fold increase in prices for liquefied natural gas, then unrest spread to other cities. In the nation's most populous city, Almaty, clashes with security forces occurred on 4-5 January and escalated, with a violent riot later breaking out.

Throughout the country, internet services were switched off, and a number of TV channels were taken off the air. 

Addressing the riots, Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev declared a state of emergency and asked the Collective Security Treaty Organisation (CSTO) for assistance in "tackling the terrorist aggression".

On Wednesday, the organisation decided to deploy forces to Kazakhstan for a limited period of time to stabilise the situation in the country.

Protests in Kazakhstan have been going on for several days, with some of the demonstrations evolving into violent riots that see protesters clashing with law enforcement officers and damaging government and civilian buildings.

Nationwide violent protests in Kazakhstan have already left 353 law enforcement officers injured, with some 13 killed, according to state broadcaster Khabar 24. 

Two of the dead officers were beheaded, the report noted.

The Kazakh city of Almaty - the country's largest - remains the flashpoint of the violence. The city administration has been set on fire and was reported to still be burning as of 2 p.m. local time on Thursday.

On Thursday, it was reported that the offices of five broadcasters in the city were looted and ransacked: Mir, Qazaqstan, Khabar, Channel One Eurasia, and KTK. One employee was slightly injured, according to Informburo.kz.

Two hospitals in Almaty were blocked by protesters, Deputy Mayor Yerzhan Babakumarov said.

"Now terrorist groups have blocked access roads to the first and seventh hospitals of the city. Ambulances cannot deliver patients, but the hospitals themselves are carrying on their work as normal", Babakumarov said, according to a Sputnik correspondent.

Reports also said that police had started street sweeping in Almaty, with around 2,000 people already detained in the city, according to law enforcement. There are no details about those dead or injured among the protesters, the Interior Ministry said as cited by Vlast. Per the ministry, the "terrorists" are "hiding behind" kids and women in order to escape law enforcement.

The actions of looters across Kazakhstan have cost retailers some 26 billion tenges ($60 million) in damages, according to Informburo.kz, citing preliminary data from the Union of Trade Networks.

Footage has since emerged showing the aftermath of the unrest in Aktobe, Kostanai, and Kyzylorda.

VIDEO: Ferocious Gun Battles as West Tries to Overthrow Kazakhstan Gov't Just Like They Did to Ukraine

Video out of Almaty, Kazakhstan today shows utterly fierce gun battles taking place in the center city of Almaty; with Army troops engaging mercenaries sent by British MI-6, and the US CIA, posing as "protesters" but who are armed with automatic weapons delivered out of trunks of cars!

Literally hundreds of rounds can be heard being fired as the Western-backed mercenaries try to overthrow the government of Kazakhstan, the exact same way they overthrew the government of Ukraine in the year 2014.

This time, however, Russia is not sitting idly-by trying to figure out who is responsible or what their goal is.  Russia already knows:  British MI-6 is responsible along with the American CIA.

They are doing this to destabilize Kazakhstan, in order to install a puppet government there, just as they did in Ukraine.  Once a (west-favorable) new government is installed, the west will then try to bring Kazakhstan into the European Union/USA sphere of influence so as to allow the placement of US first-strike weapons on the soil of Kazakhstan.

Because of its location, Kazakhstan would provide a very short missile flight time of about seven (7) minutes to Moscow and/or to Russia's strategic nuclear missile silos.  Such a short flight time would make it all but impossible for Russia to defend against a "Decapitation" missile strike by NATO.

This makes the situation in Ukraine and now this new situation in Kazakhstan, an "existential threat" to Russia.   Which is probably why when the President of Kazakhstan issued a formal request for help to the CTSO, it only took thirty minutes for Russia to order deployment of its troops!

Russian Airborne and Spetsnaz troops were flown-in and this morning, are working side-by-side with troops from Kazakhstan to engage the foreign mercenaries and put an end to this foreign-initiated destabilization.

Gunfire, street fights erupt in Kazakhstan’s metropolis

Kazakh security forces have moved on rioters in Almaty, with heavy gunfire heard in the city center near the charred administration building. Police say they repelled an “attack” on their HQ, leaving some attackers dead.

A new attempt to dislodge violent protesters from the city center was apparently launched by the police and military on Thursday evening. Witnesses reported hearing heavy gunfire in the city center, close to the local administration building that was overrun and burnt down by violent protesters on Wednesday.

Multiple military trucks, apparently transporting troops, were seen heading towards Almaty’s center.
