IDF Chief: Israel Will Pursue Ops Against Iran On All Fronts

IDF chief: Israel will pursue operations against Iran on all fronts

Israel will continue to conduct operations aimed at eliminating the Iranian threat "on all fronts and at all times," IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Aviv Kochavi said Tuesday, adding that the "operational plans against Iran's nuclear program will continue to evolve and improve."

Speaking at a ceremony in honor of outgoing Military Intelligence Directorate chief Maj. Gen. Tamir Hayman, Kochavi said the Israel Defense Forces and the intelligence establishment were working throughout the Middle East in order to curb Iran.

"No other army in the world has such intelligence, no other combat units have such intelligence wealth, and no other state has maneuver and defense capabilities of such magnitude," he said, adding that thanks to quality intelligence, the IDF possessed valuable information on the ayatollah regime.

Nevertheless, the IDF chief pointed out that the directorate was facing "complex security challenges."

"First and foremost, the Military Intelligence Directorate is required to provide intelligence on six fronts and six dimensions, the most important of which is Iran. It is our duty to provide an effective operational response in time," Kochavi said.

Hayman also addressed those present.

"The complex reality of the Middle East continues to pose a challenge for us. The threats change, reality changes, but the challenge remains constant on two matters – Iran and the Palestinians.

The Iranian challenge is alarming both in terms of the worrying development in its nuclear problem, but also in the regime's regional impact."

He also called for a "thorough, realistic, and flexible" strategy for Iran and the Palestinians.

"The role of intelligence is crucial for choosing the right path of action," Hayman said. "It involves clearing the fog of ambiguity by simply interpreting a complex reality, continuing to set goals for the next campaign, and most importantly, warning against any potential threat."

Hayman will be replaced by Maj. Gen. Aharon Haliva.
