In another sign that Britain has officially entered a post-Christian age of barbarism, a judge in the United Kingdom just ruled that belief in the Bible is “incompatible with human dignity.”
In reality, the only reason that “human dignity” exists is because God–the author of the Bible–made man in His image. Without God, there can be no inherent value to human life at all.
The crazy case in the U.K. involved a self-proclaimed “transgender” man who wanted his doctor to refer to using objectively incorrect pronouns of the opposite sex.
Citing Genesis 1:27, though, which states the fact that God created people male and female, Dr. David Mackereth refused to play along with the delusion.
Of course, Romans 1 makes clear that certain truths–the fact that God exists, for instance–are obvious, even without the Bible and divine revelation.
The fact that there are men and women is another one of those facts: Nobody needs a Bible to realize that God created people as male and female. Indeed, every strand of DNA testifies to this truth.
In his court filings with the Employment Tribunal, Dr. Mackereth said he “holds to the principles of the Great Reformation of the 16th Century including a commitment to the supremacy of the Bible as the infallible, inerrant word of God as his final authority in all matters of faith and practice.”
As such, the good doctor argued that authorities discriminated against him and his religious beliefs.
However, the court ruled that “belief in Genesis 1:27, lack of belief in transgenderism and conscientious objection to transgenderism in our judgment are incompatible with human dignity.” (Emphasis added)
The court also claimed that adhering to one’s belief in the Bible would “conflict with the fundamental rights of others, specifically here, transgender individuals.”
And so, unable to play along with the patient’s dangerous and objectively false delusion, Mackereth lost his job at the Department for Work and Pensions.
The Christian Legal Center, which represented Mackereth in the legal case, warned that the ruling against the Bible and Christians would have “serious ramifications” for Christian professionals and all others.
“The judgment dictates the language that professionals must use in the workplace,” the Center said, adding that the ruling contradicts scientific reality and will undermine freedom of speech.
It was not immediately clear whether doctors might also be forced to play along with the dangerous delusions of bulimics and anorexics–potentially even to the point of being forced to provide liposuction.
But that would be just as reasonable, or just as ridiculous, depending on one’s views on truth and reality.
Christian Legal Center attorney Michael Phillips noted that this ruling officially excludes Christians from legal protections.
It also puts the Bible and Christianity on par with neo-Nazi ideology as far as government is concerned, Phillips added.
Dr. Mackereth promised to appeal the ruling.
“I believe that I have to appeal in order to fight for the freedom of Christians to speak the truth,” he said. “If they cannot, then freedom of speech has died in this country, with serious ramifications for the practice of medicine in the UK.”
“No doctor, or researcher, or philosopher, can demonstrate or prove that a person can change sex,” Mackereth added. “Without intellectual and moral integrity, medicine cannot function and my 30 years as a doctor are now considered irrelevant compared to the risk that someone else might be offended.”
In Sweden, “Justice Ombudsman” authorities investigated the Bible in 2008. They concluded that God’s Word was a violation of Swedish “hate speech” laws, but that it was impractical to ban it at this time.
Today, across the United Kingdom and Sweden, two once-great Christian nations, Christians can be and are being literally arrested and jailed for stating the Truth about marriage, sexuality, and gender as revealed in Holy Scripture.
On the bright side, the Church tends to grow under persecution.
God will not be mocked. And Christ is already victorious.
The Bible says you were created in God's image. What could be more dignified than that?
