Israel: Involved In 'Multiple Theaters' Over 24 Hours

Senior official: Israel acted in multiple theaters over 24 hours

A day after Israel and Hezbollah were on the verge of an all-out war, a senior Israeli official revealed Monday that Israeli forces had been engaged in an intense multi-front effort against rogue elements.
“Over the past several days we have been engaged in a number of theaters.
There was the [thwarted] attempt to launch a terrorist attack from Syria and there was the latest escalation in Lebanon,” the official said. “In the span of 24 hours, we had to act in several locations.
We acted with maximal precision, exactly the way we planned. Had we not done so, now we might have been fighting a war that we didn't need. This has proved itself,” he added.
The official did not elaborate where Israel acted besides Syria and Lebanon. Foreign media speculated over the past week that Israel may have been behind repeated airstrikes against Shiite militias in Iraq as part of its effort to prevent Iran's ongoing attempts to spread its proxies and arms across the Middle East.
“There are many covert operations, by the Mossad and the Israel Defense Forces, as well as diplomatic activity that is under wraps,” the official said. “We are not improvising, this is part of a wider strategy.”
Regarding the deception that Israeli troops carried out during the latest flare-up with Hezbollah, which involving mock evacuations of wounded soldiers, the official said that troops had been instructed to act wisely and use such tactics.
