Hamas Leader Defects - 'Tells All'

Another Hamas Leader Defects, and Tells All

David Lazarus

Suheib Yousef is now the second son of Sheikh Hassan Yousef, a co-founder of Hamas, to have suddenly decided to leave the terrorist organization that controls the Gaza Strip.
Suheib is the younger brother of the “Green Prince,” Mosab Hassan Yousef, a Palestinian who worked undercover for Israel’s internal security service from 1997-2007.
The information that the older Yousef brother supplied prevented dozens of suicide attacks and assassinations of Israelis, exposed numerous Hamas cells, and assisted Israel in hunting down many militants, including the incarceration of his own father.
In 1999, Mosab Yousef converted to Christianity, and in 2007, he moved to the United States.
Now, his younger brother Suheib, himself a senior Hamas official stationed at the group’s headquarters in Turkey, has also defected, and revealed in a surprise interview with Israeli television that Hamas is helping Iran to spy on the rest of the Muslim Middle East.
In the July 2 interview with Israel’s Channel 12 TV, Sheikh Hassan’s youngest son denounced Hamas as a terrorist organization and said that the group “does not benefit the Palestinians in any way.”
“Hamas operates security and military institutions on Turkish soil under the guise of civil society,” Suheib explained. “They have security centers, and from there they use sophisticated listening equipment to listen to people and leaders. The movement (Hamas) uses this information not for the benefit of the Palestinian people. It delivers intelligence information to Iran in exchange for financial support,” he revealed.
According to Suheib Yousef, the Hamas headquarters in Turkey is not satisfied with spying and collecting information, but is also working hard to organize terrorist attacks in Israel. “I saw how the movement mobilizes people in the West Bank and also finances them,” he said. “There are dubious actions they carry out, including sending innocent children in the West Bank (Judea and Samaria) to carry out attacks.”
He went on to explain that “the purpose of the attacks in the West Bank is to kill civilians, not for the sake of the resistance, neither for Jerusalem or the liberation of Palestinian lands, not even because they hate the Jews. They send these innocents to export the crisis from the Gaza Strip to the West Bank.”
Suheib insisted that his motives were patriotic, that he exposed the true nature of Hamas with the intention of opening the eyes of his Palestinian people to their being exploited by leaders who lead a life of luxury. “Hamas leaders live in luxury hotels in Turkey,” Suheid reported. “They live in luxury towers, their children attend private schools and receive very generous financial support from the Hamas movement, they have security, swimming pools, sports clubs.”
The younger Yousef said that he “was amazed at the level of hedonism. They eat in the best restaurants and live in the region of the richest Turks. One family in Gaza lives with $100 a month, while their Hamas leaders eat one serving at a gourmet restaurant for $200.”
Suheib said that he challenged other Hamas leaders to send their own children to carry out attacks, rather than exploiting the poor. “Why does Haniyeh (chairman of the Hamas political bureau) not join the March of Return and throw stones? What are the Palestinian people gaining from these attacks? If elections were held again, Hamas would not be elected, it is a racist terrorist organization, and it is dangerous for the Palestinian people,” he declared.
Suheib Yousef is aware of the danger to his life that his actions will incur. But, he is determined to continue exposing the truth about Hamas. “Even before this interview, there were threats of murder,” he said. “But I am not afraid of them. If Hamas wants to turn me into a shahid (holy martyr), then that’s what I will become. I prefer to be the victim, and not the one who hurts others,” he concluded.
One must wonder if the younger son is following in the footsteps of his older brother, the “Green Prince,” and has also been working clandestinely for Israel’s security services.
