No one is put on trial for negative comments about Christianity or Judaism. This unhealthy exception stigmatizes political speech and suppresses criticism of one religion.

Jayda Fransen, 33, was found guilty of stirring up hatred during a speech about Islam in August 2017.She was also convicted for separate comments at a peace wall in the city.Convicting Fransen, of Moat Avenue in Donaghadee, County Down, a judge said her words were “a general, vehement attack against a religious group”.The speech was made during the “Northern Ireland Against Terrorism” event two years ago.

The court heard that Fransen told those gathered at the rally that there was no moderate version of Islam and that “these people are baying for our blood”.She added: “Islam says every single one of you wonderful people here today deserves to be killed.”Those attending the rally were then told it was time for the world to come together against “the one common enemy”.The judge told the court: “I’m satisfied these words were intended to stir up hatred and arouse fear.”
Which of these comments are factually untrue?
The Koran does command the deaths of infidels. The non-existence of moderate Islam is a point asserted by countless Muslim and non-Muslim leaders. Like Erdogan.
“There is no moderate or immoderate Islam. Islam is Islam and that’s it,” Turkey’s Islamic leader has said.
Will the court send him to jail for denying the existence of moderate Islam?
You can bet all the Mosques will be open as normal, The churches had planned to resume services this weekend, you’d think the ring of muslims singing kumbaya we heard about would have got the message by now. Of course the majority Buddhists ignore this behaviour at their peril, because when the Christians disappear, they will be the next targets, it’s a pattern that repeats.

Catholic services are being cancelled for a second weekend in Sri Lanka’s capital amid fears of fresh bomb attacks.
The Church received ‘specific information of two possible attacks against churches’ and it was decided to call off the May 5 mass, a spokesman for Cardinal Malcolm Ranjith said Thursday.
‘On the advice of the security forces, we have decided not to have Sunday masses in any of the churches,’ the spokesman said.
The Church had planned to resume public services for the first time since the Easter Sunday attacks at churches and luxury hotels which killed 257 people.
Last week, Muslims were told to stay home for Friday prayers and all of Sri Lanka’s Catholic churches were closed.
Instead of the usual Sunday Mass in Colombo, Ranjith delivered a homily before clergy and national leaders at his residence that aired on television.
A Cabinet minister said Tuesday that intelligence warnings had indicated government ministers could be targeted by the same Islamic State-linked group that carried out the April 21 suicide bombings.
Ranjith has criticised the government’s apparent failure to share near-specific intelligence on the Easter plot and some of the suspects involved.
