Helicopters and other aircraft dropped water on the fire all through Monday and the night. Crews used bulldozers and cleared vegetation by hand to try to halt the fire’s advance.

Four schools have been closed due to the threat from the blaze, with Corona City authorities urging people to leave their homes south of Green River Road to the Trudy Way area.

  1. Fire season in So Cal, with the Santa Ana winds beginning also. Folks that live in these areas, canyons especially, know they are surrounded by dry chaparral that can ignite very easily. Even if the chaparral is green, the fire is fueled by the oils within.
Canyon living in California is a no brainer to expect fire, mudslides, and the possibility of being trapped in either. This small fire most likely was started by CAL TRANS, using flares on the 91 freeway to protect a street-sweeper...smh They know better...smh For decades, builders have encroached into areas they have no business building in, and folks just buy the new homes up. These greedy builders have decimated the natural wildlife, the mountain lions ranges for example, and have put people in peril, all for the mighty buck. As the song goes,"They paved paradise, put up a parking lot" It really is beyond disgusting! With all the rain they had this year, expect perhaps some HUGE fires with all that vegetation growth.
Orange County used to be nothing but Orange groves, even when Walt Disney bought his land there. Now, there is nothing but concrete, massive impervious ground, and it just ripe for massive flooding at some point. But far worse than any fires, would be what these folks are sitting on. :( My brother used to say, decades ago, that rather than folks worrying about the San Andreas going, they should be far more worried about the Newport-Inglewood fault going. That fault has been jammed, stuck, ready to slip for a LONG time. There are millions of people living on top of it, from Orange County up to Inglewood. That, and MANY other faults are in those areas. It will be a massive disaster! A scary thought he shared years ago also..pretty much everywhere you see foothills in California, a fault was responsible for that formation....whew...

  2. Living in the middle of Orange County, atop the fault- lines and just several miles from the fires, my family and I should be scared, but because of the hope that we have in Jesus and the Rapture, we have no fear. But these impending dangers are proving to be opportunities to share our hope! It's overwhelming just how many still need to be saved! It's literally a race against the clock. Can't waste a single minute.
