LREM and MoDem set to take 445 of 557 seats; Despite low voter turnout, Macron to hold majority; Macron spokesman: We want to build a strong Europe that will speak with one voice, that will have one army, and perhaps even one economy.
Macron’s 14-month-old party will hold a majority in the parliament, a vast change to the Socialists and Republican split majority of the previous Assembly.
Macron, a political figurehead of the European Union, won the French elections, his campaign centered on France remaining in and increasing its role in the European Union.
A spokesman for Macron stated on the party’s victory in elections for the French National Assembly “We in France want to build a strong Europe economically, politically and militarily,” stating that it would now (with the election of Macron and majority in the Assembly) be easier for Europe to be global player. He stated that Europe has not been the center of the globe as it does not know what I wants, pointing out the globe turns to the United States and Russia for guidance, not Europe.
We stated that “We want to build a strong Europe that will speak with one voice, that will have one army, and perhaps even one economy… We will have to worry about the rest of the world, which will make it easier to do what we have to do” adding that “no one knows what will be of Donald Trump.”
Macron, now he's becoming quite an interesting character. Just kind of popped on the scene, took France by storm, appears to have sights set on things much higher.
