49 Countries Met In Brussels To Discuss Ground Invasion Of Syria, $683 Million Smart Bomb Deal For Turkey, Vigilantes Roam Streets Of Norway

49 Countries Met In Brussels Earlier This Month To Discuss A Ground Invasion Of Syria

Have the U.S government, Saudi Arabia and their allies been secretly plotting a massive ground invasion of Syria?  Earlier this month, defense ministers from 49 countries gathered at NATO headquarters in Brussels, Belgium to talk about what to do in Syria.  As you will see below, Saudi Arabia’s defense minister is now admitting that a ground invasion was discussed at this meeting.  Of course the goal of any invasion would be regime change in Syria, and that is something that the Syrian army, Iran, Hezbollah and Russia are simply not going to allow.  So what the U.S. government, Saudi Arabia and their allies are contemplating could literally be the spark that sets off World War III.
I was stunned earlier today when I came across the following quote from Saudi Arabia’s defense minister.  Saudi Brigadier General Ahmed Asseri told Reutersthat the 49 defense ministers that had gathered in Brussels a couple of weeks ago had openly discussed the need to conduct a large scale ground invasion of Syria…
An aide to Saudi Arabia’s defense minister said on Monday, meanwhile, that defense ministers from the U.S.-led coalition against Islamic State had discussed the possibility of a Syrian ground incursion two weeks ago in Brussels.
“It was discussed at the political level but it wasn’t discussed as a military mission,” Saudi Brigadier General Ahmed Asseri told Reuters. “Once this is organized, and decided how many troops and how they will go and where they will go, we will participate in that.”
When this meeting took place in Brussels earlier this month, it got next to no attention from the U.S. media, but it did get some attention in the international media.  The following is an excerpt from an article about this meeting which appeared in the Guardian
The US defence secretary has refused to rule out Saudi Arabia sending ground troops into Syria, but added that it was just one option and there were other ways the Saudis could contribute to the fight against Islamic State.
Ash Carter was speaking on the eve of a meeting of defence ministers from 49 countries at Nato headquarters to discuss how to step up efforts against Isis in Syria and Iraq.

A few days after this meeting, Saudi Arabia announced the largest military exercise in the history of the Middle East.  This exercise has been dubbed “Northern Thunder”, and military units from 20 different nations are participating.

The Syrians, the Iranians and the Russians are concerned that this looks very much like an “invasion force”, but the Saudis are denying this even though we know now that this is precisely what the “coalition partners” have been discussing.

In addition, fighters from Turkey continue to pour over the border, and mercenaries from Saudi Arabia and other countries in the region have been funneling into Syria for years.

If the war ended today, things would be far worse for Saudi Arabia and Turkey than if they had never even attempted to overthrow Assad in the first place.  The Iranians would have far more influence in Syria than they did before, Hezbollah now has a major presence in Syria, and Russian aircraft would likely be permanently stationed at air bases inside the country.  And of course Saudi Arabia and Turkey would have to deal with a neighboring government that now hates their guts because Assad knows that they have been trying to overthrow him for the past five years.

Saudi Arabia, Turkey and their allies have invested massive amounts of money and resources in this attempt to overthrow Assad.  Now that their Sunni militias are being routed, either they have to walk away or they have to go in and do the job themselves.

Unfortunately, as I wrote about earlier today, Saudi Arabia and Turkey still appear to be quite determined to get rid of Assad.

So we should not expect this current “ceasefire” to last for long.  In the coming days we should expect the western powers to accuse Russia, Iran, Hezbollah and the Syrian government of repeatedly violating the ceasefire, and these “violations” will be used as justification for whatever “the coalition” has planned next.
Sadly, whatever they have planned next could be the spark that plunges our planet into World War III.

As the Turkish government escalates tensions across the Middle East, the Pentagon has authorized a multimillion dollar deal to sell smart bombs to Ankara.

Last December, the Turkish government deployed a battalion of 25 tanks and roughly 1560 troops into northern Iraq. Acting without Baghdad’s permission, the move was roundly condemned as a breach of sovereignty. Ankara has also been engaged its own internal war against Kurdish communities in the country’s southeast, with the death toll reaching some 5,000 people.

Now, with all parties honoring the Syrian ceasefire, Turkey is threatening to plunge its neighbor back into the five-year civil war.

"[The Turkish government] view themselves as victims and losing parties in the Syrian war," Germany’s Telepolis magazine noted. "For this reason they will resort to provocations until the ceasefire is shattered."

Despite Turkey’s destabilizing influence in the region, Washington has chosen to award a $682.9 million contract which will provide Ankara with an undisclosed number of smart bombs.

"The deal came timely as we are deeply engaged in asymmetrical warfare and need smart bombs," one Turkish military official said, according to Defense News.

The contract was granted to Ellwood National Forge and General Dynamics Ordnance and Tactical Systems, and includes the sale of of an unnamed number of BLU-109 bunker busters. These bombs contain roughly 550 pounds of a high explosive compound known as tritonal, and thanks to tail fuse delays, the bomb’s detonation is stalled until it reaches its intended underground target.

Norway has a major culture clash underway between two rival groups. On the one hand, you have the right-wing Soldiers of Odin, who present themselves a street patrol group. They first emerged in Finland in 2015 in response to the flood of migrants that have arrived there from the Middle East, and not surprisingly they’ve since opened up chapters all over Europe, including Norway.

They say they’re only interested in making people feel safe in public, much like the Guardian Angels organization in the United States. However, many of their members have criminal records (which are often racially motivated crimes), and they’ve been accused of being a xenophobic street gang or an anti-migrant vigilante organization. Their movement really picked up steam after the New Years sexual assaults in Germany, and their ranks continue to grow.

It didn’t take long however, for another group to develop that would counter the Soldiers of Odin, and they’re not the typical left-wing pro migrant progressives that often protest at Pegida rallies.

In response to the infidel group Soldiers of Odin patrols, we Muslims have chosen to create a group that will patrol the streets, first in Oslo, to prevent evil and encourage the good,” a source within the Islamist environment told VG.
The group is officially calling itself Jundullaah, translated to English as ‘Soldiers of Allah’ or Norwegian as ‘Allaahs soldater’.
Someone claiming to be a member of the group sent VG what they said would be the Soldiers of Allah’s official uniform: a black hoodie decorated with the black flag of terror group Isis.

How long do you suppose it will take before these two groups have a violent encounter with each other? I suspect it won’t take long. Ronny Alte, a spokesman for the Soldiers of Odin, was just kicked out of the group for suggesting that a fight between themselves and the Soldiers of Allah would damage their movement. So it’s on, as far as I can tell.
This is the new normal in Europe. They’ve taken in millions of people who can’t or won’t be assimilated, and both the native population and the migrants feel threatened by each other. Couple that with the fact that the governments of Europe have failed to maintain law and order, and you have a recipe for disaster. People on both sides are going to feel the need to assert themselves in the streets. It’s only a matter of time before these groups clash, and mass racial violence becomes commonplace in Europe.
