Palestinian Terror Wave: Brutal Attacks Escalate

The wave of terror attacks that Israel has experienced in recent days can be directly attributed to the leaders of the Palestinian Authority, Israel’s supposed peace partner. They are no more a peace partner than the Nazis were “peace partners” to the British Labour government, circa 1938. The person who bears chief responsibility for the sudden surge of violence is self-styled “president” Mahmoud Abbas, the autocrat whose term of office as president of the PA expired six years ago. His banal and vitriolic rhetoric before world leaders at the UN General Assembly on September 26 amounted to nothing more than the acerbic rantings of an old, washed up has-been filled with deep-seated, anti-Semitic hate and bile. What more can one expect from an avowed Holocaust denier.

Abbas’s malevolent UN address was also aimed at the Palestinian street and represented a continuation of the rabid incitement so prevalent within the echelons of the Palestinian Authority and its media stooges. While the incitement – which often crosses over to blatant anti-Semitism – is disturbing, more disturbing is the fact that the Obama administration and the EU, who are responsible for subsidizing the Palestinian Authority, remain silent in the face of the most despicable anti-Semitic calumnies, reminiscent of speeches made by Joseph Goebbels. It is almost as if the West views the Palestinians as small-minded infants, incapable of distinguishing right from wrong, good from bad.

Taking cue from its leaders, Palestinian terrorists began their orgy of violence with the brutal slaying of Eitam and Na'ama Henkin, an accomplished young couple in their 30s who were guilty of driving while Jewish. They were brutally gunned down by a Hamas cell of five at close range, right in front of their hysterical four young children who were seated in the back of the couple’s car. The State Department confirmed that Eitam Henkin was a United States citizen.

On October 3, Palestinian terrorists struck again, this time in Jerusalem’s Old City near the Lion’s Gate. A crazed Palestinian, incited by the Palestinian leadership went on a stabbing rampage, killing two civilians and wounding two others, including a woman and infant before being neutralized. The traumatized wounded female relatedhow she had asked Arab passersby for assistance and they in turn responded by spitting at her, laughing at her plight and wishing her death. One even slapped her. Her version of events was corroborated by video recorded on closed circuit TV and security officials have announced that they have already identified the passersby and intend to arrest them. 

This post-stabbing aspect of the Lion’s Gate attack is perhaps just as shocking as the murders themselves, as it demonstrates an appalling level of depraved indifference so prevalent in Palestinian society. On the other hand, we should expect no less from a society imbibed with hate and xenophobia, one that celebrates murder and suicide (or “martyrdom operations” in Palestinian lexicon) and names streets and public places after people who in the West would be locked up in institutions housing the criminally insane.

Today marked a new level of Palestinian violence, registering at least six attempted acts of terror. Near the Arab occupied settlement of Bet Sahour, Palestinian terrorists ambushed an Israeli female motorist on her way to work in Jerusalem, subjecting her vehicle to a barrage of stones. They then attempted to drag the disoriented motorist from her car in an effort to lynch her. She succeeded in fighting them off and managed to miraculously escape with only minor injuries.

In Kiryat Gat, Petach Tikvah and Jerusalem, terrorists carried out non-fatal stabbing attacks and near Ma’ale Adumin, a terrorist tried to murder soldiers who were manning a checkpoint by ramming his car into them. The perpetrators in the aforementioned cases were all quickly neutralized thanks to the rapid reaction of the security forces and Israeli civilian passersby, but the spike in violence merely underscores the fact that the two-state paradigm, repeated ad-nauseam by the Obama administration and other terror apologists in the EU, is dead. The very notion of ceding land to an entity so entrenched in mindless hatred is not only pointless, it represents the zenith of national suicide. 

The Obama administration appears utterly blind to this axiom. Some might argue, with some justification, that the administration is cognizant of the inherent danger involved in the creation of a Palestinian state jutting into Israel’s heartland like a bone in the throat and is deliberately scheming to weaken Israel. Either way, Israel must act resolutely in the face of pure evil by stating unequivocally that it will never yield to terror, will never negotiate with those who support terror and will never yield to political blackmail imposed upon it by the Obama administration.

Hamas’s chief in Gaza on Friday called violence that has hit the West Bank and East Jerusalem in recent days an “intifada” and urged further unrest.

“We are calling for the strengthening and increasing of the intifada… It is the only path that will lead to liberation,” Ismail Haniyeh said during a sermon for weekly Muslim prayers at a mosque in Gaza City.

“Gaza will fulfill its role in the Jerusalem intifada and it is more than ready for confrontation,” he said.

At least five Palestinian rioters were reported wounded in clashes Friday with IDF troops along the border between Israel and the northern Gaza Strip.

Initial findings of the Afula stabbing revealed that the female terrorist made her way inside the central bus station, and pulled out her knife by a soldier on the platform.

 

Two Border Police officers identified the kniife-wielding terrorist approaching the soldier, and opened fire towards her lower body in order to neutralize her.

Yesh Atid leader Yair Lapid reacted harshly to Friday's terror attack by a Jew in Dimona, saying that,  "anyone who is willing to act in such a manner does not understand the essence of Judaism. Anyone that does that is hurting the Jews, the country, our security."

 

"The one principle we've always protected," the Yesh Atid leader said, "is that we wouldn't turn into them. We wouldn't be like the terrorists. We wouldn't adopt their convoluted values."

 

Lapid said that Dimona's Jewish terrorist is a burden to the country's security forces, who are already preoccupied and working around the clock.

 

"On days like this we are supposed to unite, protect the other, and remember our Jewish values that our nation is built upon."

14:00-  A female terrorist attempted to stab a security guard at the Afula central bus station Friday afternoon, in the fourth stabbing incident in under four hours.

 

The assailant approached the guard, stationed at the entrance of the bus terminal, armed with a knife.

 

She was shot and neutralized on the spot, and is being treated for moderate wounds.

12:39- Police officer in Kiryat Arba was lightly injured after being stabbed by a terrorist who attempted to steal his weapon. The suspect was subsequently neutralized.
12:20- A 16-year-old was lightly injured in a stabbing attack in Jerusalem Friday afternoon. The stabber was neutralized after the attack.

10:15- Three Palestinians were stabbed by an Israeli in Dimona, with one in critical condition. Two remain in moderate condition, MDA reported Friday morning.  

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu "strongly condemned" the attack in Dimona Friday morning.

 

"Israel is a state of law and order," he said, pledging to "bring justice to anyone using violence and breaking the law from any side."

As violence continues to rock the holyland over the past several days, the hashtag "#Jerusalem intifada" is widely being shared online among Palestinian youth activists, AFP reported Friday.

A Facebook page adorned with masked youth throwing stones, declaring in Arabic "the (uprising) has been launched," has also been setup as clashes and stabbings continue to persist.

In the age of smartphones and social media, Palestinians have at their disposal a range of tools to help spread images of protest and violence that is having a profound impact on this latest round of violence. 

Palestinian psychologist Najah al-Khatib, observing the latest spat in violence, said that social media is helping drive youths in the West Bank to participate in violence and protests. 

"They don't have the concept of danger or the sense of caution that an adult has," he said. 

Despite calls for calm from leaders on both sides of the Israeli-Palestinian divide, many fear that tensions could boil over if the violence persist and crescendo into a third intifada.

Proof please? CNN claims Russian missiles crashed in Iran, Moscow refutes, US can’t confirm

A CNN report, claiming that several Russian cruise missiles targeting Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS/ISIL) positions in Syria actually landed in Iran, has been refuted by the Russian Defense Ministry, while the US State Department say they can’t confirm.

The American broadcaster cited two unnamed US officials, who said that four Russian missiles had crashed somewhere in Iran after being launched from vessels in the Caspian Sea. The report suggested that “some buildings were damaged and civilians may have been hurt.”

This triggered a quick reaction from the Russian Defense Ministry, with spokesman Igor Konashenkov saying that all the missiles had hit their targets on Wednesday. “Unlike CNN, we don’t distribute information citing anonymous sources, but show the very missile launches and the way they hit their targets almost in real time,” Konashenkov said. The spokesman pointed out that the strike targets are being photographed before and after being hit, while Russian drones are monitoring the situation from Syrian skies 24/7.

The high precision strikes might have been “unpleasant and surprising for our colleagues in the Pentagon,” but the fact is that “the missiles launched from the ships hit their targets,” he said. 
“Otherwise one would have to acknowledge that IS facilities – located at a considerable distance from each other – exploded all by themselves,” Konashenkov said. 

US State Department spokesman John Kirby said that he couldn’t confirm CNN’s report, according to Reuters. 

Meanwhile, a source in Iran’s Defense Ministry told RIA Novosti that Tehran has “no information of Russian missiles crashing on Iranian territory.”

On Wednesday, four Russian naval warships in the Caspian Sea fired a total of 26 missiles at positions of Islamic State in Syria, hitting all the targets, according to Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu.

Konashenkov also lashed out at a fresh statement from Pentagon head Ashton Carter, who predicted Russian losses in its Syrian operation.  

“In their assessments of the US military’s actions in various operations conducted by them all over the world, the Russian Defense Ministry has never stooped to publicly speaking of expectations of the deaths of American soldiers” Konashenkov stressed.

Well, it now looks as though, lacking anything in the way of options, the US is set to try and sow discord between Russia and Iran by highlighting the following “story”:

A number of cruise missiles launched from a Russian ship and aimed at targets in Syria have crashed in Iran, two U.S. officials told CNN Thursday.

Monitoring by U.S. military and intelligence assets has concluded that at least four missiles crashed as they flew over Iran. One official said there may be casualties, but another official said this is not yet known.

It's unclear where in Iran the missiles landed. The Russian ships have been positioned in the south Caspian Sea, meaning the likely flight path for missiles into Syria would cross over both Iran and Iraq.

The Russians have been firing a relatively new cruise missile called "Kaliber," using it for the first time in combat.

But if this is an effort on the part of the Pentagon to create tension between Moscow and Tehran it won't work. 

Understand that this would be like attempting to sow conflict between the US and Canada by drawing attention to US missles that accidentally hit Alberta on the way to targets in Alaska where militants were attempting to invade North America. In other words: Tehran isn't going to care about this and the sooner Washington, Doha, and Riyadh decide to get serious about developing a real strategy here, the better off they'll look in the history books because suggesting that Russian jets are about to bomb Ankara and/or that Russia shouldn't fire cruise missiles at militants because one or two might malfunction on the flight over Iran hardly counts as a credible "plan" and indeed, this isn't exactly the best time for the US to be pointing fingers when it comes to collateral damage.

Oh, and by the way, both Russia and Iran say these reports are entirely bogus. Via Sputnik:

Tehran denies US reports that four of Russia's cruise missiles targeting ISIL actually fell to the ground in Iran, with the country's defense ministry calling the accusations "psychological war."  

Russia's Defense Ministry denies US media reports of an alleged incident involving cruise missiles which were fired at ISIL positions in Syria on October 7, stating that all missiles hit their designated targets.     

"No matter how unpleasant and unexpected for our colleagues in the Pentagon and Langley was yesterday's high-precision strike on Islamic State infrastructure in Syria, the fact remains that all missiles launched from our ships have found their targets," ministry's spokesman Maj. Gen. Igor Konashenkov said.
