Finally someone talks about the "elephant in the room" behind the massive debt held by all almost countries:
As go the people, so go the nations.
Detroit, Puerto Rico and Greece are the victims for having so much debt loaded on them. But who did the loading? Who decided that it was a good idea to keep selling bonds and borrowing money without having an actual plan to pay it back? Financial institutions have their share of the blame, but none of them ever forced a credit card on a politician at gunpoint.
Politicians ran up debt to pay for a wonderland in which there are a lot of public sector workers, few businesses and a lot of social services.
Detroit had 55 residents per government employee. Half the city’s residents didn’t pay property taxes which were the highest of any major city. The employment rate wasn’t pretty. The third largest “industry” was education and health care, both mostly government subsidized, the fifth biggest industry was government. Fourth was manufacturing, which in Detroit has hovered around being state-owned.
The money had to come from somewhere and eventually the $18 billion bill came due.
Greece has a working age population of around 7 million and over 700,000 government employees; not counting workers in state-owned enterprises. A quarter of government spending goes to paying government employees.
Greece also has a 25% unemployment rate. The fairly generous employment to population ratio is at 39.
The debt is in the hundreds of billions and it isn’t going to be paid back. The debt to GDP ratio is at 175%. Under Obama, we’re also above 100%. Puerto Rico, now in crisis, is at only 70%.
The government is Puerto Rico’s largest employer. Back in the eighties, a third of the working population was employed by the government. There has been some progress since with the ratio falling to a quarter in this century, but some of the load was being shifted over to public sector corporations that were responsible for running up much of the debt.
Puerto Rico has a working age population of over 2 million and had 200,000 public employees. And, depending on how you count, the numbers may be even higher.
All of these stories follow similar narratives.
The left runs a welfare state overseen by a vast number of government employees and agencies. Much of this infrastructure does nothing useful.
The administrative sector grows much faster than any other. The public sector employees are unionized. Firing them is a difficult and painful process.
The administrative sector grows much faster than any other. The public sector employees are unionized. Firing them is a difficult and painful process.
Fiscally conservative governments come into office to try and make reforms, but their reforms are undercut by the bureaucracy. The unions fight privatization every step of the way. There are cries about neo-liberalism and big banks. Meanwhile more bonds are sold to subsidize the mess.
The left returns to power shouting class warfare slogans and vowing that it will take care of everyone from cradle to grave.
It can't do that, but it will bankrupt the system to protect its power.
The left returns to power shouting class warfare slogans and vowing that it will take care of everyone from cradle to grave.
It can't do that, but it will bankrupt the system to protect its power.
It’s not just the story of Greece, Detroit or Puerto Rico. It’s also the story of California and the UK. It’s the story of America and Europe.
You can find the same warning signs in major cities across the country, but for the moment there are still enough jobs to keep the system afloat. At least until the jobs and the people leave.
Detroit’s population fell from 1.85 million in 1950 to below 700,000 today. Thousands to tens of thousands flee every year. Things are so bad that experts flirt with filling the city with refugees.
There are more Puerto Ricans off the island than on it and Greeks have been leaving for a while.
But the same is true of California, New York City or London. Net migration from Europe is hidden by the huge volumes of Muslim migrants coming in from the Third World to mooch off the welfare state.
The left’s response to each setback is to spread the pain. Activists demanded that the people who fled to the suburbs should pay for Detroit’s disaster. The rest of Europe is expected to shoulder Greece’s burden. But spreading the pain only delays the inevitable. The underlying problem is still inescapable.
America has been led down the same bad road by a party that loves the imaginary numbers of Global Warming, but hates the hard numbers of economics. Obama has renamed spending, investing. But the only real investments are in a vast bureaucracy, a welfare state and crony capitalism.
The Obama coalition is based around public sector workers, the welfare class and billionaires getting special privileges in return for contributions. Their “investments” are draining the economy. What the European Union has done to different countries, Obama has done across the nation.
And all of this was done in the name of social justice.
The debt piles up in the name of social justice. The welfare state must be built for the underprivileged. And then when the bill comes due, it’s the fault of the banks and the holders for wanting their money. Any cuts are denounced as austerity. The media fills with horror stories as welfare clients, public sector employees and students riot in the streets in protests that are often funded by wealthy businessmen with ties to the corrupt political infrastructure of the left.
It’s not about the poor. It’s not about the oppressed. It’s about power.
When the left says justice, it means power. Its unwieldy coalitions are kept together by mutual hatreds and massive bribes. The bigger debt, the more the coalition must cling together as it moves from mere theft to mass economic destruction. Economic collapse deepens the complicity of all the players.
The financial institutions that laundered the bonds that paid for their welfare state now become the enemy. But that’s part of the game that the bosses on both sides understand. Financial institutions make a good deal of money by pandering to the terrible spending habits of leftists. Taking the blame for those habits is part of the deal. The left needs scapegoats more than it needs anything else.
A fundamentally false ideology convinced of its own complete rightness needs reasons for its failures. The voters who never asked hard questions about what the cost would be need someone to blame. So do the politicians who took the deals and blew the cash. But all of it is bad acting by bad actors.
When it’s all over, the left will go back to pretending not to know how money works and financial institutions will pretend to believe it. The damage will continue to spread as long as people think that they can buy a better world without ever looking at the interest rate and the final cost.
And it’ll always be the fault of wealthier countries and individuals, the suburbs and Germany and all the ants who worked while the grasshopper sang. It’s the fault of everyone who gave the governments of the left money for a grand social experiment and committed the unpardonable sin of wanting it back.
They Want To Use "Hate Speech Laws" To Destroy Freedom Of Speech In America | Zero Hedge
Hate speech laws are going in all around the world, and progressive activists in the United States want to use these kinds of laws to destroy free speech in America. You see, the truth is that these hate speech laws that are being implemented all over the planet are not just about preventing speech that promotes violence or genocide against a particular group of people. Instead, these laws are written in such a way that anyone that says something that “offends” or “insults” someone else is guilty of “hate speech”. Even if you never intended to offend anyone and you had no idea that your words were insulting, in some countries you can be detained without bail and sentenced to years in prison for such speech. Today, there are highly restrictive hate speech laws in Canada, in Mexico and in virtually every single European nation. The United States is still an exception, but the truth is that our liberties and freedoms are being eroded every single day, and it is only a matter of time until “hate speech laws” are used to take away our freedom of speech too.
And support for these kinds of laws is growing. In fact, one survey found that 51 percent of all Democrats now support hate speech laws. It is only a matter of time before progressives start pushing for them in a big way.
Sadly, many of these progressives don’t even understand that our Constitution protects free speech.
But without a doubt, we do need to have a conversation about “hate speech” in the United States. If I offend or insult you, that does not mean that I “hate” you. And if I disagree with you, that does not mean that I “hate” you either.
Some of the things that are considered to be “offensive speech” these days are absolutely ridiculous. For example, just consider the following excerpt from a recent article by Paul Joseph Watson…
Here’s an actual list of things that according to the University of Wisconsin are racist:
– Asking someone where they are from or where they were born.
– Telling someone they speak good English.
– Telling someone that you have several black friends.
– Saying that you’re not a racist.
– Complimenting an Asian person by telling them they are very articulate.
– Asking an Asian person for help with science or math.
– Uttering the phrase “There is only one race, the human race.”
– Saying that you think America is a melting pot and that when you look at someone you don’t see race.
– Believing that the most qualified person, regardless of race, should get the job.
– Thinking that every person, regardless of race, can succeed in society if they work hard enough.
– Telling a black person who is being too loud to be quiet.
– Telling an Asian or Latino person who is too quiet to speak up.
– Mistaking a person of color for a staff member when you’re in a store.
– Calling something “gay”.
– Doing an impression of someone’s dialect or accent.
Could you imagine going to prison for any of those “offenses”?
But this is where our country is heading if we don’t stand up for our rights.
Right now, the progressives are on a roll. In the wake of the recent Supreme Court decision on same sex marriage, some progressives are already talking about going after the tax exemptions of churches that oppose it. In fact, the New York Times recently published an article entitled “Now’s the Time To End Tax Exemptions for Religious Institutions“.
But of course the ultimate goal is far more insidious. In the end, they want to shut down all speech that offends them in any way…
And as I wrote about yesterday, western governments are already using paid trolls to identify and combat “extremists” on social media websites such as YouTube, Facebook and Twitter.
We are rapidly becoming a “Big Brother” society, and if we don’t stand up for our freedoms and liberties now, it is inevitable that we will eventually lose just about all of them.
Unfortunately, most of the population is absolutely clueless about all of this. In fact, as Mark Dice demonstrated the other day, many Americans don’t even know what we are celebrating on the 4th of July. As a society, we have become extremely “dumbed down”, and we have lost connection to the values and principles that this country was founded upon.
Hillary Clinton Top Advisor Defends Claims That Israel Is Nazi Germany And Israelis Must Leave Israel
While Politico rants and raves that Hillary Clinton will be good for Israel, what’s been overlooked is that her closest advisor, Sidney Blumenthal, defends claims that Israel is Germany, and Israelis must leave Israel.
In her secret emails, Sid Blumenthal was essentially running the State Department from outside the government. In repeated “confidential” emails, Sidney Blumenthal provides advise to Hillary on conflicts all over the world.
Blumenthal repeatedly stands against Israel. In fact, he is also a fierce defender of his anti-Israel son, Max Blumenthal, who is an activist solely devoted to harming the Jewish people. Even liberal Nation columnist Eric Alterman has said that a book Blumenthal wrote “could have been published by the Hamas Book-of-the-Month Club (if it existed)” – and Sidney Blumenthal hosted a launch party for that book. Max Blumenthal has compared Israelis to Nazis, and says that “the ‘non-indigenous’ majority of Israelis should not remain in the country now known as Israel.” And Sidney Blumenthal – Hillary’s closest advisor – has defended him repeatedly.

It gets better – Max Blumenthal apparently inspired the Nazi who shot two Kansas Jewish community centers. The killer made 300 references to Blumenthal’s work, including saying “Max Blumenthal is insightful & sometimes funny.” In “Kikes gone wild by Jew Max Blumenthal,” there’s praise for anti-Israel videos, and a Blumenthal video on “How To Kill Goyim And Influence People.”
Sources in the know indicate that one of Hillary Clinton’s other longtime advisors and associates is extremist New Israel Fund supporter Karen R. Adler.
Netanyahu: Western powers 'collapsed' in nuclear talks | The Times of Israel
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Sunday accused the six world powers negotiating with Iran of dangerously caving to the Islamic Republic’s every demand, as a long-sought final pact that would see the lifting of sanctions in exchange for curbs on Tehran’s nuclear program was reportedly close to being signed.
“It seems that the nuclear talks in Iran have yielded a collapse, not a breakthrough,” Netanyahu said at the start of the weekly cabinet meeting. “The major powers’ concessions are growing.”
He said an agreement with Tehran over its nuclear program would “pave Iran’s path to the production of very many atomic bombs and it will also channel to Iran hundreds of billions of dollars that will serve its aggression and terrorism campaigns in our region and around the world.”
“This is a bad deal,” the prime minister said. “It is not less bad – in my opinion it is worse – than the deal with North Korea that led to a nuclear arsenal in North Korea. But this is both a nonconventional threat and a very large conventional threat against Israel, the countries of the region and the world.”
On Saturday, the Associated Press reported that the so-called P5+1 world powers and Iran had drawn up a draft document on the pace and timing of sanctions relief, advancing on one of the most contentious issues of their negotiations. The development indicated the sides were moving closer to a comprehensive accord that would impose a decade of restrictions on Tehran’s nuclear program in exchange for tens of billions of dollars in economic benefits for the Iranians, as they race to complete a deal after extending a June 30 deadline to July 7.
Supreme Court or Supreme Being – Who Will You Obey? - Freedom Outpost
Since the Supreme Court rendered its irrelevant and irreverent opinion approving homosexual marriage, the mainstream media has been gleefully declaring that it is now "the law of the land." Is it? Several "conservative" organizations are calling for political action: "Call your Congressman and get a Constitutional Amendment passed that defends/defines marriage as a union between one man and one woman." Should you?
Though their sentiments may be sincere, this is NOT the right way to approach this Unconstitutional/criminal act on the part of five Supreme Court justices. If Americans want to restore our Constitutional, republican form of government, we the people need to do so within the boundaries of the Constitution, not within "conservativism."
What is the difference, you may ask. What would Constitutional action look like?
- The Supreme Court does not make law. Article I, Section 1 clearly states that all legislative authority rests with Congress.
- Congress, who does have the authority to make law, has no authority over marriage. It is not within their 18 enumerated powers in Article I, Section 8.
- Any marriage regulations/laws (e.g. bigamy, polygamy, incest, etc.) are the State government's jurisdiction. See Amendments 9 & 10.
- Many states have passed Defense of Marriage Acts - DOMA – their citizens voting to define marriage as being a union between one man and one woman. The federal government has no authority to overrule State governments and their citizens in this regard. Once again, see Amendments 9 & 10.
- Lastly, but actually primarily, no one…repeat - NO ONE has the authority to overrule the Laws of Nature and of Nature's God – the foundation for all law in America as stated in the Declaration of Independence.
Sir Thomas More, during his trial for treason for refusal to acknowledge Henry VIII as head of the Roman Catholic Church in England, expressed this principle well:
"Some men say the earth is flat. Some men say the earth is round. But ifit is flat, could Parliament make it round? And if it is round, could theKing's command flatten it?"
Simply stated, man cannot alter God's created order – the Laws of Nature and of Nature's God - by "pretended legislation" or bogus, arrogant court decrees.
What if all the State representatives whose citizens have voted for DOMA would properly represent those citizens by initiating Nullification resolutions or legislation, letting the feds know their States have no intention of obeying an Unconstitutional, therefore illegal, federal mandate. Five individuals have no authority to overrule the will of the people. Five individuals have no authority to overrule the Laws of Nature and of Nature's God. The Supreme Court is not the Supreme Being.
What if other State representatives followed the lead of Alabama, whose Senate just passed SB-377, ending State-issued marriage licenses? This changes marriages to contracts that are filed with Probate Judges to constitute a legal record. This eliminates both State and federal law, a best case scenario as individual citizens should not be required to ask permission (get a license) from any government official before they marry. Marriage is a highly personal matter between individuals and families. Removing civil government involvement also means there can be no lawsuits or court cases filed regarding marriage because no law is broken if anyone chooses NOT to perform a marriage ceremony, or chooses NOT to participate in any other way in this wedding (providing flowers, cake, etc.).

What I do not think anyone is really addressing concerning the Social Justice and debt is the roll the stock market plays in keeping people poor. The system in which stock holders are valued more than workers, plays a critical part in how a company works as far as demanding greater profits to the detriment of workers and in some cases even the company itself. To "satisfy" the stockholders demands we have seen loss of jobs and new jobs, decrease in wages, stagnation in wages, no training programs that used to allow people work their way up in a company. People may discuss the "welfare state" that has come about but they do not hold accountable why it is growing. With everything costing so much and wages stagnating, you are seeing people who used to take care of themselves now needing assistance. Then, when you factor in everyday people investing in 401K and other retirement plans, that money is no longer used in the economy creating revenue, jobs, taxes, etc. If people would only realize how damaging the stock market plays in everyone's lives they would understand what is going on better. I do not understand how this is overlooked in all the blogs, websites, who only focus on a crash and less about the how it sucks the life out of everyone and the economy. The stock market has become a double edged sword that slaughters anyone in its way for the sole purpose of making the rich richer, and the poor poorer. But no one wants to dare touch that sacred cow because they are the ones that keep feeding that beast and heaven forbid they loose a buck or two for the betterment of the entire economy.
ReplyDeleteAnd ironically, the same people within the government who are insisting on the welfare programs, are the same people who are propping up the stock market by printing money...and all of this is being done because of a failed financial program, which is failing because of the welfare programs.. Its one huge circle - all done by the same people.
ReplyDeleteScott, based on the pattern(s) of the stock/bond market crashes as it relates to the Shemita, we could.....as a possibility, be looking at another crash this September or October. Possibly September 23rd.
