The foreign ministries of France, Britain and Sweden on Monday summoned and sharply rebuked the Israeli ambassadors to their countries, following a series of steps taken by Israel in response to the Palestinian move to receive nonmember observer state status at the United Nations. An Israeli official quoted by Israel Radio said the tone of the rebukes was “harsh and very unpleasant.”
A British Foreign Office spokesman issued an severely worded condemnation of the move, and called on Israel to reverse the decision.
“We deplore the recent Israeli government decision to build 3,000 new housing units and unfreeze development in the E1 block. This threatens the viability of the two state solution,” the spokesman said. “Any decision about any other measures the UK might take will depend on the outcome of our discussions with the Israeli government and with international partners including the US and European Union.”
Elsewhere in Europe, Germany and Russia joined the chorus of condemnations, with the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs tweeting a steady stream of denunciations.
The latest round of condemnatory measures comes amid reports by Haaretz and Sky News that the UK and France were considering, among other measures, recalling their ambassadors from Israel in response to the Israeli government’s announcement Friday that it was authorizing new construction in East Jerusalem and the West Bank.
A Foreign Ministry official on Monday morning told The Times of Israel that some European countries had registered protests in the wake of the Israeli announcement, but said the ministry was unaware of any move to recall the ambassadors of the UK and France.
Israel has come under intense international criticism for the construction decision. On Sunday, UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon’s spokesperson issued a scathing rebuke, saying that the move “risks completely cutting off East Jerusalem from the rest of the West Bank” and that “it would represent an almost fatal blow to remaining chances of securing a two-state solution.”
Both France and Britain summoned the Israeli ambassadors to their countries on Monday to express disapproval over plans to expand West Bank settlements, as reports swirled that the two European countries were considering the harsher move of recalling their own ambassadors.
Britain's Minister for the Middle East Alistair Burt summoned Daniel Taub, Israel's ambassador in London, for talks on the issue. "The Minister set out the depth of the UK's concerns," a British Foreign Office spokesman said. A diplomatic source, who declined to be named, said London would decide whether to recall its ambassador later in the day.
France called Ambassador Yossi Gal to a meeting, but played down reports it could recall its ambassador. "There are other ways in which we can express our disapproval," an official told Reuters. "The ambassador has been summoned in order to express our disapproval," foreign ministry spokesman Philippe Lalliot said.
Israel Radio reported that Sweden also summoned Israel's ambassador for discussions on the issue.
Vice Premier Moshe Ya'alon told Army Radio he was not aware of any recall. "I did not hear of this, either via the foreign ministry or the prime minister's office. Therefore I have a hard time believing it is true," he said.
France and Britain have both condemned Israel's plans to build more settlements in the occupied West Bank and east Jerusalem, saying international confidence in Israel's desire to make peace with the Palestinians was at risk.
Friday’s announcement of the additional units and the planning work to be done on E1 was the government’s immediate reaction to the Palestinians’ successful move to upgrade their status at the UN General Assembly to that of non-member observer state.
Germany urged Israel to refrain from expanding settlements but said a visit by Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu to Berlin this week would go ahead as planned.
"We appeal to the Israeli government to desist from this procedure (for building more settlements)," German government spokesman Steffen Seibert told a news conference, adding that the plans undermined efforts to revive peace talks by reducing the land available for a future Palestinian state.
Asked whether the issue might jeopardize Netanyahu's visit to Germany, Seibert said there was no change in the schedule: "The chancellor (Angela Merkel) expects Mr Netanyahu for dinner and talks on Wednesday evening... We expect an open discussion between friends."
Russia also urged Israel to reconsider the plans, saying building new homes would undermine any chance for direct peace talks.
Russia "views these Israeli intentions with the most serious concern", the Foreign Ministry said in a statement. "Implementation of the announced plans for large-scale settlement activity would have a very negative effect on efforts to resume direct negotiations aimed at a two-state solution of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict," it said.
This one is worth saving and bookmarking, and quoting whenever you hear the words "land for peace' or other similar nonsense:
Any sense of lasting peace is antithetical to the mission of Hamas. To see what I mean, check out the Hamas Charter. Below are some choice quotes from the Charter, with some sections highlighted in bold. Clearly, any notion of a lasting peace will be impossible until Hamas changes its charter dramatically.
Quotes from the Hamas Charter:
Below are just a few of the more germane quotes - the entire charter is worth reading:
Israel will exist and will continue to exist until Islam will obliterate it, just as it obliterated others before it” (The Martyr, Imam Hassan al-Banna, of blessed memory).
The Islamic Resistance Movement is one of the wings of Muslim Brotherhood in Palestine. Muslim Brotherhood Movement is a universal organization which constitutes the largest Islamic movement in modern times. It is characterised by its deep understanding, accurate comprehension and its complete embrace of all Islamic concepts of all aspects of life, culture, creed, politics, economics, education, society, justice and judgement, the spreading of Islam, education, art, information, science of the occult and conversion to Islam. The Islamic Resistance Movement is a distinguished Palestinian movement, whose allegiance is to Allah, and whose way of life is Islam. It strives to raise the banner of Allah over every inch of Palestine.
The Prophet, Allah bless him and grant him salvation, has said: “The Day of Judgement will not come about until Muslims fight the Jews (killing the Jews), when the Jew will hide behind stones and trees. The stones and trees will say O Muslims, O Abdulla, there is a Jew behind me, come and kill him. Only the Gharkad tree, would not do that because it is one of the trees of the Jews.” (related by al-Bukhari and Muslim).
The Islamic Resistance Movement believes that the land of Palestine is an Islamic Waqf consecrated for future Muslim generations until Judgement Day. It, or any part of it, should not be squandered: it, or any part of it, should not be given up.
Initiatives, and so-called peaceful solutions and international conferences, are in contradiction to the principles of the Islamic Resistance Movement. There is no solution for the Palestinian question except through Jihad. It is the duty of the followers of other religions to stop disputing the sovereignty of Islam in this region
“Say unto those who believe not, Ye shall be overcome, and thrown together into hell; an unhappy couch it shall be.” (The Family of Imran – verse 12). This is the only way to liberate Palestine.

OK.....I will ask this question! What business is it to any of these countries if Israel approves more homes to be built? None.....to none of them. As far as undermining the peace plan.......hog wash! These same countries were not concerned when Hamas was firing rockets all those years into Israel, and more specifically the ones last month. Build more houses, strip malls, churches, museums, and gas stations . Netanhayu should double the building permits. I would build so many houses and put up a huge billboard on the boarder that reads: Palestine, enjoy your 3 mile square state. Yes, the building issue will be the thorn in Palestine's side. Its always funnier when the sandle is on the other foot!!!!!! Build more!!!
ReplyDeleteBy the way guys, did you notice the article in Ynet news about The School Of Prophets being opened up by Rabbis in Tel Aviv?
ReplyDeleteDavid~
ReplyDeleteI have to wonder from a different prospective. "He who laughs first, laughs last" :)
So Bibi follows the rules, but the others don't. The other non-supporting countries decide it is OK to enhance further stress on this situation by encouraging greater breaches instead of resolutions. For years Israel has tolerated much and played fair to no avail. Lot's of clapping and folly.
Now Bibi starts moving forward inspite of his circumstances with talks of planning and zoning. Quickly the erruptions start happening from all around him before he has even built one home :) Meanwhile, as he remains calm, they flare up. Sounds to me he knew what he was doing all along. We know these 'planning' phases can take quite sometime and with many delays. What we have been able to see is who truly supports Israel all along.
Now, that is one smart man I must say. He held the poker face and the others showed their cards way too soon. This shows the selfish motives of the non-supporting nations while Bibi just keeps following Gods word and moves on. May we keep praying for him and give him the continued wisdom and insight to do Gods will in these last days.
God Bless!!
GG
I think this was a very poorly timed decision by Netanyahu and Israel . We all know on here that Israel has every right in the world to build settlements on their own land but at a time when Israel is being literally encircled by its enemies and the world opinion has drastically turned against it (as predicted) Building settlement DAYS after the UN voted Pro-Palestinian is going to turn the people who were on the fence against them also . We all know Israel has the right to do this but for people who are easily brainwashed by the MSM its going to do more harm than good .
ReplyDeletePs If you want a look inside the mind of Islamic eschatology google "gerald celente trends blog" choose Dec 2nd , then choose "2012 you're already dead." Warning you will be very angry by the end but also it confirms EXACTLY what bible prophecy speaks about . It's BEYOND AMAZING if you compare what they believe will happen in endtimes and what Christians believe . It fits exactly where the false prophet and anti-christ will come from .
Peace Nate
GG, I agree, he has stayed the course, but to the nations, that won't matter. On a deathly serious note, what he has proposed to do will (I think) bring about a war with the Palestinians, and other nations as well.
ReplyDeletePalestine eventually will be granted stateship. Now that Bibi has gave the go ahead for more houses, the land in question that palestine needs to quality for that stateship is being built on and occupied by Israeli's. Now how ticked off do you think that is going to make them, when from since their very existence they have tried and tried to be recognized as a state and now Bibi throws a major wrench in the works. So Palestine sees the only way to become a state is if Israel is out of the picture. And when they try that....we win! They have already eluded to taking the land by force.....
Scott, isn't that right? Do they not need the land in question for their quest for stateship??????
Hi Nate and David-
ReplyDeleteThere are so many ways this could go. I can't help but think he picked a subject that would pierce the core of many in the U.N. MSM will only fount and say what they want in the long run but the truth will stand in the end which is what Gods plan is about all this I guess.
While he is talking about housing and many are getting worked up over idols so to speak and control, is anyone looking around at what Assad is doing? I don't have the answers either but while he is being calm yet firm on his convictions in his part of the world, Assad's days are dwindling and alone on their activity Israel can go fight on nuclear issues vs land issues.
I guess what I am finding hard to swallow is how the MSM is playing Bibi's decisions out to be weak when I feel as the fine military commander he was, one knows you do not disclose your next move. Everything is in such hypersensitive mode in these last days, many versions of fuses are short and can lead to an all out war depending on who jumps first :)
I do feel we are very, very close to something horrific coming! Pray like we have never prayed before.
God Bless!!

Hello all.
ReplyDeleteNathan, maybe the building of settlements is what will, in fact, turn all the nations against Israel, even the US and UK (I doubt it would take much for Obama to openly turn against Israel).
The world response to this decision certainly seems consistent with prophecy.
God bless.
Good Morning Scott, all,
ReplyDeleteI was sent this link. A commentator by the name of Paul Harvey gave this spearhead back in 1965.
Very prophetic. All nations listen and weep.

Blessings all

That's speech.

Yes indeed dear Sister GG, :)
ReplyDeleteThe so called "settlements", (btw - how can it be a "settlement" when its YOUR LAND, are just a thumb in the eye from Israel to its enemies. These enemies of Israel are continuing to play a shell game. "Look over here...no,no look over here" Meanwhile, Iran, the head of the snake, is spinning away with their productions, uninhibited, while they fund and help their proxies attack Israel. BTW, Iran is also RESPONSIBLE for the death of many of our Servicemen.
Yes indeed Sis,..look at what Assad is doing...

Hi Mrs. C-
ReplyDeleteSomething you taught me not that long ago has stayed with me about Jordan, I believe it falls into the sea? Sorry if I am getting that wrong but I remembered looking at a map of how close all these places are based on what you shared with us.
Then for a feeling, something I know probably makes no sense to the world -ha ha..let alone me, I just thought the land is not the only power Bibi holds. I thought about something simple as this hypothetical situation that one may not have all the facts to:
You go to build a house and your house is approved to go because the land is approved by the village or municipality near you. The planning and development agencies involved on all sides of any transaction thunk it is a go then something holds it up. It could be temporal or take a bit of time. Let's say there is something going on with the land that upon further review is not conducive to the previous plans submitted. It all goes back on hold. Then they start again after overcoming that hurdle, and the other entities may not have completely fulfilled their agreed parts, e.i. Electric, Gas, Water, Sewage, etc...the land deal goes back on hold. Meanwhile the occupants are still able to tell friends and family they are building a new home, very soon, date to be determined. It's all in good faith but unforeseen delays cause it to delay.
Then those things are cleared to move forward but a lien shows up in a title search, deal on hold. Back to the planning and zoning for review. Approval again, market crashes, build on hold....but they can build soon, no one knows when that soon is.
That is not exactly what I am saying Bibi is saying but he knows the anticipated date he will move but he could be causing a restlessness among the enemies because he is not lying, he hasn't set a date, and on the other side, he has every right to look at the future of his nation as he helps it grow, right? Why live in fear of the enemies one day longer? I think, again I could be wrong, but I feel this was to get a better handle on who is truly with him and who is not. That land hasn't been built on for years out of respect, what respect are they giving him.
I feel like just in IMHO Syria is going to set off weapons either intentionally or by human error with Hamas. I feel this along with the movement taking place now, Bibi will wait on no one and go do what he has promised to do with his own red line. :)
Again true to his word, just a different route than MSM is looking at. Like a back door maneuver and he will count on non of these falsehoods the US and others say they are with him and then retract. They are p,aging both sides and one will lose.
I do apologize ahead of time if I mistook what you shared and I will review that again if I have that wrong.
Also if any typos on this iPad :)
God Bless, Sis!
GG
Many good and valid points here....maybe a few more to consider.
ReplyDeleteWhat poker chips did Israel and Bibi have on the table that they could play and bluff and negotiate with. Virtually none. So he/they bought a few...a few good high value ones.
They paid immediate but probably short lived world condemnation...words.
What they got was a whole fist full of very high value chips, chips they can play or bluff or both with.
Lots of ways to look at this. Bibi don't usually play for the short term, he's usually looking several hands into the game.
Just my weird view from my knothole.
I find it very hard to second guess Benjamin Netanyahu. It is all in God's hands anyway just like the election of Obama. His will shall not be thwarted. This some how will play into the end time scenario to perfection. We just can't always see the forest for the trees. Israel only received I think it was 9 votes on the PA UN vote recently. It can't get much worse than that. As Scott has pointed out this fits right in line with Zechariah 12.
ReplyDeleteJuxtaposed right along side of that can of worms are the issues with chemical weapons in Syria, Hamas rearming in Gaza, Iran continuing to ramp-up on nuclear proliferation, Russia sending war ships and fueling the fire in other ways, pressure on Jordan's King to turn on Israel, America/Obama now only giving lip service to Israel as an ally and the whole Arab spring debacle.
Throw in the global economic meltdown, the American "fiscal cliff", the move to a one world government and the encroaching totalitarianism and you can see it is almost time to go home!
Come Lord Jesus! Your bride awaits!
Benjamin , I agree its probably just another baby step toward the world turning against Israel . I believe there were 41 countries that abstained from the UN vote which is/isnt support , 142 voted for it and only 9 were against it . NINE ! So were really close to the whole world turning (thats why i think Netanyahu made a mistake building the settlements (Don't turn the measily nine against you to BIBI !).
ReplyDeleteDave down Unda , that was a great Paul Harvey video . I laughed because you said "a guy by the name of Paul Harvey" . Almost any practicing christian in America know Paul Harvey :)...I love listening archived media and applying it to todays news . Paul Harvey was a jewel of a man ,
Wv we must have been typing at the same time . Of course it all fits into Prophecy . Glad to see you made it out alive from California . You didn't turn gay did ya ? (Only kidding) Lots of good people in California , but lots of lost souls to . Go find a river in West Virgia and get re-baptised just in case :)
ReplyDeleteNathan, HaHa...I saw that we both mentioned the 9 countries supporting Israel all most simultaneously. Great minds I suppose?
ReplyDeleteCalifornia is a pretty state but it has attracted a lot of, well lets say interesting people. There are also lots of great folks living there as you said but yes I'll stick with WV. We have all the same beautiful scenery (except a cold ocean) and a lot of good down to earth people.
Sorry Nathan I've never heard of Paul Harvey. Lord raise up more 'muscle preachers' like him for our time.
ReplyDeleteDave
Hi Dear Sis GG, :)
ReplyDeleteIt is Tyrus (Greek) or Tyre (Hebrew) that is located on the coast of Lebanon, that God Himself with cover with water. Whew...pretty bad...
Ezekiel 26:19-21
19 For thus saith the Lord God; When I shall make thee a desolate city, like the cities that are not inhabited; when I shall bring up the deep upon thee, and great waters shall cover thee;
20 When I shall bring thee down with them that descend into the pit, with the people of old time, and shall set thee in the low parts of the earth, in places desolate of old, with them that go down to the pit, that thou be not inhabited; and I shall set glory in the land of the living;
21 I will make thee a terror, and thou shalt be no more: though thou be sought for, yet shalt thou never be found again, saith the Lord God.
Great analogy of Bibis and Israel's move with the building. Yes, they know exactly what they are doing.
With Syria, we know from Gods Word, that the opening of Isiah 17 is the complete destruction of Damascus. This will be a retaliatory action from Israel. For years now, Israel has stated they will hold "Damascus" specifically, not "Syria" but "Damascus" responsible for any attacks on Israel, and that includes Hezbollah in Lebanon.
Anything can start this, including some lone crazy named Habeeb hiding in bushes and wanting to make a name for himself by launching something at Israel.
When it does start, the domino's will fall very quickly...there will be no pulling back...
God Bless You!
hope this all makes sense...not feeling so great...
Dave Down Unda , i just thought to myself "Oh yeah , Australians probably never have heard of Paul Harvey" . Who are some of Australias "Paul Harveys" I'd love to download and listen to their opinions ?
ReplyDeleteBy the way everyone take a moment and listen to what Dave gave you the link to its a fantastic 3 minute clip and YES very very very forward looking . Paul Harvey , Irvin Baxter and Hal Lindsay are some of my favorites . Scott you're good but your no Paul Harvey :) :)
Hey Brother Nathan, :)
ReplyDeleteFWIW, not ALL of Cali-land is "gay", smoke pot and hangs out in hot tubs. Lived there for decades, and the MSM are the ones that perpetuate this fable.
It is a HUGE state, and there have been many times that the idea of breaking it in two (North and South) has come up. I left behind a town that literally had Churches on every corner practically. And whew, just south of L.A. there are alot of Christians.
Living there for so long, it never sesesed to amaze me how those that live there are portrayed. There are many votes that take place for example, like the gay marriage. It has been voted down TWICE! in that State. Something like 60/40 against the first time, but you never here any elaboration on that in the MSM.
There are many types of "Christians" living there for sure, but overall it is tough sometimes without question. Our Brothers and Sisters in that State need our Prayers :)
God Bless!
Hi Mrs. C-
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear you are still not feeling well. I will send more prayers your way. So I will keep watch on Damascus as all this unfolds. Thanks for clearing that up about Tyre. I may have a question or two as we move along. I want to make sure I have those places listed according to scripture converted into the right names of today. :)
Rest Easy!! God Bless!!
GG
Nathan just sittin here laughing with you. Yea as far as Australian preachers go.....yea! I think the old time preaching of Godly doctrines and faith in Christ have been replaced by motivational speaking. I don't believe and I could be wrong, but I don't think we possess the calibre of speakers of the likes that have come out of the States. If there are muscle preachers here I guess they're all retired and or gone home.
ReplyDeleteI'm more than likely wrong of course.
Dave
Mrs C , I've been to California about 20 times working with the airline industry and out of the country around 70 times . I was just kidding with WV . I'm well aware that Californians are good people along with muslims , blacks , jews , mexicans etc etc . I was just playing "the liberal card" :) Also i don't hate Gay people one ounce(just don't agree with them .
ReplyDelete
