Hey Scott... I have a question.. confused as to the prophesied timeline Israel will be surrounded by her enemies, with no help from her allies; presumably as soon as she strikes Iran's nuclear facilities by EMP or otherwise? God will save Israel ultimately, but is this prophesied before, or after, the rapture of the Church?
There isn't any way to put events in perspective to t he timing of the Rapture, since it is an 'imminent event' - which means it can happen at any time (nothing has to precede it. As far as Israel surrounded by her enemies, we get it in several places - we see it in the battle of Gog-MaGog and most likely Isaiah 17, so we know during both of those events Israel will receive no help - and again in Zech where we see Jerusalem surrounded by her enemies with no help in view. We also can see the dialogue from the rest of the world when Israel gets surrounded and attacked and rather than coming to Israel's aid, the representation of uninvolved nations inclused asking questions to Gog as to why he attacked, but no condemnation or coming to Israel's assistance. In fact, reading between the lines, the questions to Gog almost look like giving him an opportunity to come up with some excuse. And of course during the Tribulation, no one will be there to protect Israel either, but thats a much more detailed and complex view having to do with the ACs first 3.5 years and second 3.5 years.
So after reading Isaiah 17, it foretells God destroying Damascus after Syria it has attacked Israel; something that signs are building toward with chemical weapons it may be planning to use against Israel. Would this event mark the beginning of the Tribulation period? As far as I can figure out, the only thing the Church can be sure of is we'll be gone after the Tribulation begins...but what IS the defining start of the Tribulation period?
Its all in Daniel 9 where the 490 years of Israel history (post return from Babylon) is described. The last 7 years begins when the AC confirms the covenant of Daniel 9:27
Dear CHristine and Scott, We were studyng Rev 6 and 7 this week. the four hoeses of the Apocalypse. The first horse which begins the seals ( which stretch over the entire seven years) is the white horse with one on it who conquoers. He only has a bow but no arrow, It is a false peace before war. I say this because we are looking at wars right now but soemone is going to conquer ( probably the ac before the wars of the second horse ( red, fiery red)begin. This is at the very beginning of the seals and woes.. The conquering peace made me aware of the great deceptions and wars of words right now. I KNOw you know all this Scott, just thinking aloud. Was surprised to bereminded of the peace..
