Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu got into a diplomatic shouting match with US Ambassador Dan Shapiro over US President Barack Obama's handling of Iran's nuclear program, saying "time has run out" for diplomacy, Yediot Aharonot cited a source as saying on Friday.
A source that participated in the meeting said that a particularly angry and stressed Netanyahu began a tirade against the US president, attacking him for not doing enough on Iran. "Instead of pressuring Iran in an effective way, Obama and his people are pressuring us not to attack the nuclear facilities," the source quoted Netanyahu as saying.
Angered about continued US rhetoric that diplomacy needs more time to work, Netanyahu said flatly: "Time has run out,"Yediot reported. The American ambassador is said to have responded politely but firmly, telling Netanyahu that he was distorting Obama's position. Obama promised not to allow Iran to obtain nuclear weapons, he explained, and left all options on the table, including military options.
At that point, diplomatic sources told the paper, "sparks flew" in an escalating shouting match between Netanyahu and Shapiro as the stunned congressman watched.
Netanyahu and Obama may meet face-to-face on the sidelines of September's United Nations General Assembly meeting.
PM says he wants to tell world about ‘Iranian regime of terror, the greatest threat to world peace’; meeting with US president would reduce chance of strike at Iran before then
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is to fly to New York at the end of September to speak at the United Nations General Assembly.
He is likely to meet with US President Barack Obama on the sidelines of the GA to discuss with him further action to thwart Iran’s nuclear ambitions, Israeli sources said.
According to some analysts, a meeting with Obama at the end of September would mean that it is highly unlikely that Israel would launch a unilateral strike at Iran’s nuclear facility before then.
In a statement Thursday, Netanyahu denounced the Non-Aligned Movement conference, and slammed the international community for its silence in the face of Iran’s “blood libel” against Israel.
“Today, representatives of 120 countries in Tehran heard a blood libel against Israel,” Netanyahu said, referring to a speech earlier Thursday by Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei at a summit of the Non-Aligned Movement. “This silence has to stop. Therefore I am going to the UN General Assembly, to tell the nations of the world in a loud and clear voice the truth about the Iranian regime of terror, which constitutes the greatest threat to world peace.”
Residents of the city of Sderot reported hearing the “Red Alert” siren twice on Friday morning.
Shortly afterwards, a rocket fired by terrorists from Hamas-controlled Gaza hit a home in the city. One woman suffered from shock and the home sustained minor damage.
A second rocket exploded in an open area of the Shaar HaNegev Regional Council.
On Thursday evening, a rocket launched by terrorists in Gaza exploded in an open area of the Ashkelon Coast Council region.
Home Front Defense Minister Avi Dichter on Friday said that Israel will have to alter its deterrence strategy vis-a-vis Gaza-based terrorism.
Dichter's comments came during a visit to the house in Sderot hit by a rocket fired from Gaza earlier in the day
Israel cannot tolerate rockets being rained down on it, he said, stressing that Israel needs to initiate at a time of its choosing a process of devising a "complete deterrence strategy to stop the terror."According to the IDF Spokesman's Office, some 450 rockets have been fired from Gaza into southern Israel since the beginning of the year.
Vice Premier Moshe Ya'alon said on Friday he feared Iran did not believe it faced a real military threat from the outside world because of mixed messages from foreign powers, including the United States.Ya'alon's statements came a day after Chairman of the US Joint Chiefs Martin Dempsey said that he did not want to be "complicit" if Israel chose to strike Iran's nuclear program, positing that a premature attack would dissolve the international pressure on the Islamic Republic.
Former U.S. Ambassador to the UN, John Bolton, said in an interview published Friday that he does not believe President Barack Obama will order an attack on Iran, now or in the future, and urged Israel to attack Iran's nuclear program on its own.
Speaking to Maariv's Tzach Yoked, Bolton said that "there is no way at this stage to prevent Iran from going nuclear without use of force. It is very unfortunate in my opinion, but I see no possibility that Obama will use military force, and therefore it falls upon Israel."Iran is not in a race for building one or two bombs," Bolton continued. "I think they believe that time is on their side and they will continue with what seems like a well thought-out plan, mostly because they believe that the United States under Obama's leadership will do nothing. And of course, they are afraid of Israel, but I think they trust Obama to pressure Israel not to do anything, and until now this has proved right."
My heart just sinks at the news coming out now....and its so consistent with what I'm getting from boots on the ground in the area.
ReplyDeleteThis isn't just throwing our "friends" and brothers under the bus, its laughing at them as they're cut loose.
And that, to me, translates to laughing at the Lord God Almighty. Not good...not good for anybody.
We need Jesus so bad....were it not for the blessed hope and promise, I would be crawling into a hole now and looking for a rock to pull over me.
But we do have Jesus and His promise to come for us. And Israel has The God Almighty.
I just shutter to think of the future without either.
Amen, Caver.
ReplyDeleteC.B.
Caver-I come here right after my wakeup prayers. IMMEDIATELY stopped reading and started praying again. Praying for Bibi to hear clearly from God, praying for God to raise his hedge of protection for Israel etc. and I may have done something bad :( but I told God I'm sick of this tomfoolery. I asked him to divide between those who love him here and those who don't. And to please, when the whip comes down, strike those who plot against Israel instead of all of us. I usually only pray for goodness and mercy but what a terrible mistake these guys are making!
ReplyDeleteMiss Ally, I hear ya Sis. Loud and clear do I hear you.
ReplyDeleteOften, very often, I petition God to count us that bless His children through prayer and deed as a separate people.
I have no idea what's getting ready to come down, but I do know....know beyond any possible shadow of doubt...He knows His own.
With everything going on in Israel, I'm of the opinion that the presidential election here really doesn't matter. Even if Romney wins, I don't believe anything is going to change. For Almighty God is still in control of world events; and if we are that close to the end(and I believe we are), He clearly tells us in His Word how it ends up; and it aint gonna be pretty. The only people for whom it all ends well are those who have accepted the Blood Atonement of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of their sins.
ReplyDeleteIt is hard to know what to say about the shouting match other than it is indeed heartbreaking to know the position our government has taken.
ReplyDeleteDutch I have not had a bit of interest in the election this time around. I have always been very politically active. Howver I did not even tune in to any of the convention. I have been of the opinion for some time now that thiis presidential election would not mater for the Bride of Christ.
If by some slim chance we are still here come November I will be voting. While I hold out little hope Romney could turn things around I have no illusions what Obama has and is attempting to do our nation. It is still so very sad to witness.
While our attention should be focused on our blessed hope it is hard none the less to witness the dismantling of our once proud Country.
Israel need to watch again "against all odds: in search of miracles" and start believing again.
ReplyDeleteDear WV, I feel exactly like you do. I use to take keen interest in who to vote for...if we are here I will still vote, it just doesn't mean much to me. I want to go home, I'm tired! :)
ReplyDeleteDear Annie, you just summed up everything we're feeling and talk about daily. We did watch the Romney speech and for a while I felt a glimmer of hope. As you said , we want to go home and we're tired.
ReplyDeleteThere's been a swarm of quakes in the Virgin Islands area all week. I've not seen anything about it n the news . . .but I check the USGS site daily and have for a couple of years. If youre not familiar wit it, the quakes remain on the site for one week, then drop off. Most days the total is around 200 or so, sometimes after an active period or large quake, I've seen the total as high as 375. Sunday morning before the CA swarm began, it was around 169. In all the time I've been watching, I've never seen the total at 400 or higher. It's at this moment, in the 580s. There've been several large quakes this week and swarms continue in Alaska, California and the Virgin Islands. Here's the link:

I agree, Caver . . .all this is extremely distressing to watch. However, we must continue believing God has a plan and He's told us part of His plan is to bring Israel back into His flock. We know Israrel will face tough times, and all alone. But the Church will be removed soon . . .and God's full attention will be on Israel. He's still in control, and I sincerely believe it won't be long . . .
ReplyDeleteOn the subject of the political election this year. I kind of took a different track...
ReplyDeleteI've prayed that we at least be allowed to start to claw back. I know the roll we MUST play, and I think that time is between now and the inauguration.
I watched the convention and I feel a totally different movement than in any election in recent memory. There is a return to basics, to God and His principals.
I don't think this side will ever be allowed to be sworn in, but I do think the Lord is giving us the chance to at least go out trying to give this country back to Him.
I hope you guys "tune back in". If I'm going down or going up, I want to do so trying to claw our way back to who and what we're supposed to be.
Lots of folk are feeling and commenting on this following the convention.
The other side is scared. Real scared. Lets give them something to be scared of.
And yet, DESPITE ALL THIS, bulls
ReplyDeleteremain in control......is that
correct ?? I think so.
DOW UP almost 100....
I talked about the fact that BEARS
were NOT ABLE to confirm the break under 13 011, and sure enough, we
go RIGHT BACK up again.
The manipulation out of Washington
has been effective in holding
Israel back, in reality, the need
for Obama to pacify bulls is very
demanding.
and he is giving in.
that is why nothing is happening,
and THAT IS why Israel will NOT
do anything....
Bulls are desperate to keep the game going and so is Obama.
the END will THEREFORE be delayed a
long long time.
get used to it.
Stephen >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Thanks Caver for what you just said. I'm tired but I'm going to do my best to patch the holes in my armor and keep up the good fight! Love and Prayers to everyone! Gwenny
ReplyDeleteI agree Caver....the other side IS scared. Thats why I believe there will be no election. Four years ago I said that, and two months before it is scheduled, I believe it more than I did 4 years ago. The October Surprise this year will beat all the rest.
ReplyDeleteThey are not going to let the 'other side' win, and I believe everything is in place to make sure of that.
The stock market is a perfect tool, and my bet is it will crash between now and Oct. (no offense Stephen, but it IS controlled by TPTB). There are sooooo many things that completely add up. Foreign troops, many high up inside sources everywhere with details of government preparations for civil unrest, etc. (I wont go there, but do some research....many sources with no connections to each other saying the same things), government agencies purchasing ammunition, FEMA camps...I could go on.
Besides all of that, it adds up with things that need to happen to bring this country to its knees, and its Constitution, that will allow the world to welcome the man of sin.
Yeah, its ok to call me crazy, conspiracy nutcase, or the plethora of other funny names...but I am pretty skeptical of all the info I hear, and when things are the same from many sources (credible, and some unconfirmed), and some that have a high trustworthiness, then they must be considered.
My disclaimer, I am not stating facts about anything that is GOING to happen, I am stating that I believe things are in place to happen when the times comes. The tipping point in the ME is any second....but so is the tipping point for the US. We should all be prepared (although I dont believe we will be here when it tips....or at least not long).
(sorry if my foil tip blinds you in the sun.....)
;)
Absolutely Mike and Anon, absolutely.
ReplyDeleteMike, scoot over. Make room for me on that conspiracy nutcase bandwagon for one more. I'm fully on board.
Look at the expertise of the "good guys" this time. A proven jobs creator, business turn-around specialists, and the brightest financial guy in the congress/senate...the only one that put forth a budget the pundits say "can and will" work.
One a Christian and one a Mormon, real ones. Believe what you wish about the Mormons but hard work, honesty, and integrity are basic tenants for someone that has reached the position Romney has.
They both pray to God on their knees and ask for divine guidance.
Just maybe Obozo was Divine Providence to open eyes and take us where we had to be to fulfill our role at this time in history. Maybe R&R are Divine Providence to allow us to try and take it back but not before we play our appointed roll in prophecy.
The left never saw the Tea Party coming. They never saw the grassroots back to basics and roots as a possibility. Well, guess what....we are and we're real.
Caver and all-
ReplyDelete2 quick things! I wrote to Bibi and told him to be both encouraged and of good courage and he was raised up by God for sych a time as this and to remember the battle is the Lord's! Also, despite our leaderships noncomittal, he had people here praying day and night for him and his country. Its really easy to do! Send him an email :) I told him to remember the scriptures and how God always keeps his promises. I signed it, your friend!
2. Very very important! Billy Graham has instituted a fast and pray for 40 days for our nation. It starts Sept. 28 until the election. Im on board, wanna join me? There is also a national pray in at Indepent Plaza in Filthidelphia, Pa. Sometime during that period. I think im gonna do that too, just do obobblehead can see how many people really believe!
Its our last chance guys, straight up! Lets rock Nineva to the core!
Crash in October ?? NOT the way bulls are in control now.
ReplyDeleteI doubt it VERY MUCH....
what would change MY MIND ??
I want to see a CONFIRMED BREAK of that 13, 011 area.....
IF i see that, I will be convinced.
otherwise, up and up we go.
with the END delayed.......
Stephen >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
I do agree with one thing Stephen, my brother....
ReplyDeleteup, up, up we go.........;)
(and THAT, my friend, thankfully, is all in the hands of our Lord!)
Dear Mike >>>>
ReplyDeletei am NOT talking about the rapture;
I am talking about stocks getting
bulled up and up.....which would
DELAY the rapture quite a while I
would think.
a long time.
ONLY a precious few it seems will
still be here for the rapture, it
is TAKING SO LONG that i would
think unless you are in your 20's
now, you probably will DIE like my
Grandmother did waiting for it.
In any case, IF bulls do control
stocks in SEP/OCT, we will probably
go UP on the DOW until APRIL 2013.
a long rally.
NOT good for people expecting the
end...and NOT good for Israel
either since SUCH A RALLY would tell me that Netanyahu is NOT SERIOUS AT ALL re the Iran threat,
atleast NOT on this side of 6 NOV.
