Hezbollah Official: Iranian Nuke Meant To "Finish Off" Israel

Not that the news is that surprising, but to see it in living color and in print is stunning for a prophecy watcher. Don't look for this headline in the NY Times or any of the other MSM publications. It doesn't fit with their anti-Israeli agenda.

It is times like this that you want to take a few steps back and look at the big picture of biblical prophecy and marvel at the accuracy and specificity of these ancient scriptures. Don't forget, these prophetic scriptures were written approximately 2,500 years ago. Just think about that. The world changes a lot in a decade or two - and to predict the alignment of nations and all of Israel's enemies and their actions, alliances, leaders, wars and outcomes - 25 centuries in advance can only be done by an omniscient God. Don't forget what the apostle Peter said in 2 Peter, after describing the things that he had seen with his own eyes:

"And we have the word of the prophets made more certain, and you will do well to pay attention to it, as to a light shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts.

Above all, you must understand that no prophecy of scripture came about by the prophets own interpretation. For prophecy never had its origin in the will of man, but men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit."
(2 Peter 1:19-21)

In the context of this letter, we know that Iran will not destroy Israel via a nuclear weapon - that scenario doesn't happen according to the prophetic scriptures - but we do see foreshadowing of the Gog-MaGog invasion of Israel, where Iran will be included, and the coming wars of Isaiah 17, where presumably Iran will be pushing the buttons behind the scenes. We're already seeing this with Iran's growing influence over Egypt, Syria, Lebanon and Gaza, just to mention a few. Iran's leadership has one central focus right now - and that focus is the complete destruction of Israel.

A top Hezbollah official said Iran’s nuclear program is “meant to create a balance of terror with Israel” and “finish off the Zionist enterprise.”

Appearing on the Hezbollah-affiliated Al-Manar Lebanese television station this week, Retired general and current Hezbollah MP Walid Sakariya said a nuclear Iran would serve both Syria and Iran’s needs — namely, the end of the Jewish state.

“My analysis is the following — if Iran becomes a nuclear state, the entire equation in the Middle East will change,” Sakariya said in a television clip recorded and translated by the Middle East Media Research Institute.

He continued, “This nuclear weapon is meant to create a balance of terror with Israel, to finish off the Zionist enterprise, and to end all Israeli aggression against the Arab nation.”

In the words of Peter, we will do well to pay attention to the prophetic writings, as we are. After all, the prophetic scriptures are indeed like a light shining in a dark place - and the darkness that surrounds us now is getting darker and darker. But we have God and we have the His written word. We also have Jesus, who has given us assurance of His return. He also told us to be looking up right now for His coming. Maranatha!

  2. Scott, you are quite right, there is no sign of any destruction of Israel by an Iranian nuke, and what's more interesting, is that there ARE prophecies about the Gazan people being wiped out and the land of the Gaza strip going back into Jewish hands.
God is so gracious, merciful, and watching over His word to perform it.
