In the news: Bringing 2012 In With A Bang

2012 begins with a bang prophetically. There are a number of interesting stories today:

Obama Signs NDAA Into Law: Dismantles Bill Of Rights

According to the ACLU, President Barack Obama just signed one of the most controversial bills into law since the Patriot Act.

In case you haven't heard, H.R. 1540: National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2012 or NDAA, is not your typical defense spending bill. It gives authority to the president (or perhaps it'd be more fitting to call him king or ruler at this point) to order the military to indefinitely detain U.S. citizens without official charge or trial on the mere suspicion of being a terrorist or linked to a terrorist organization.

The paragraph below captures the essence of this bill:

But as our government slips further and further from the rule of law and the founding principles of our nation that once made us great, tyranny inevitably creeps in to take its place. And when tyranny reigns, the line between who is a terrorist and who isn't becomes easily blurred. A "terrorist" could simply mean a political enemy of the state.

National Defense Authorization Act "Slip Into Tyranny"

You can say what you want about Ron Paul, but he has it right on this issue:

The National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) is an unprecedented, unconstitutional, and unchecked grant of dictatorial power to the President in the name of protecting the security of “the homeland.” Ron Paul described the bill (soon to be signed into law by the President) as a “slip into tyranny,” one that will almost certainly accelerate “our descent into totalitarianism.”

This liberty-extinguishing legislation converts America into a war zone and turns Americans into potential suspected terrorists, complete with the full roster of rights typically afforded to terrorists — none.

A key component of this reconciled bill mandates a frightening grant of immense and unconstitutional power to the executive branch. Under the provisions of Section 1021, the President is afforded the absolute power to arrest and detain citizens of the United States without their being informed of any criminal charges, without a trial on the merits of those charges, and without a scintilla of the due process safeguards protected by the Constitution of the United States.

Back to the Epicenter where we see a few pertinent stories:

Islamism: 21st Century Communism

One paragraph says it all:

Think about this: By the end of 2012 the overwhelming majority of Muslims in the Middle East – in Egypt, the Gaza Strip, Iran, Lebanon, Libya, Tunisia and Turkey, about a quarter-billion people in all – will be governed by radical Islamist regimes that believe in waging jihad on Israel and America, wiping Israel off the map, suppressing Christians, reducing the status of women to even lower than it is now, and in their right as the true interpreters of God’s will to govern as dictators.

Muslim Brotherhood Vows Not To Recognize Israel

Egypt's Muslim Brotherhood will not recognize Israel "under any circumstance," the party's deputy leader Dr Rashad Bayoumi told Arabic daily al-Hayat in an interview publish Sunday.

In recent Egyptian elections the party list led by the Brotherhood's Freedom and Justice Party (FJP) won 36.3 percent of the list vote, while the ultra-conservative Salafi al-Nour Party took 28.8%.

When asked whether it is a requirement for the government in Egypt to recognize Israel, Bayoumi responded by saying: "This is not an option, whatever the circumstances, we do not recognize Israel at all. Its [Israel] an occupying criminal enemy."

The deputy leader stressed during the interview that no Muslim Brotherhood members would ever meet with Israelis for negotiations. "I will not allow myself to sit down with criminals."

Muslim Brotherhood Plans To Cancel Peace Pact With Israel

Haniyeh In Sudan: Hamas Will Never Recognize Israel

Hamas’ Prime Minister in Gaza, Ismail Haniyeh, reiterated on Saturday that his organization will never recognize Israel and will never give up on Jerusalem, Channel 10 News reported.

He also called for the establishment of a “Jerusalem Army,” an army of Arab nations who will conquer Jerusalem from the Jews, the report said.

Haniyeh’s remarks were reportedly made in a forum entitled “The Jerusalem Forum” being held in Khartoum. Channel 10 reported that during the discussions, Haniyeh’s men met with senior members of the extremist Muslim Brotherhood movement. According to the report, the purpose of the meetings was to look into the possibility of having Hamas join the Muslim Brotherhood.

Iran Claims It Has Produced Nuclear Fuel Rod

Iran claims it has produced its first nuclear fuel bar, an accomplishment that Western experts estimated it could not achieve.

The semi-officials Fars News Agency stated, “The fuel rod with 1,500 mw/h of radioactivity has passed neutron and non-leakage tests successfully and is now under study for longer duration of radioactivity. The achievement came while the Western states refrained from supplying nuclear fuel to the research reactor in a violation of their NPT (Non-Proliferation Treaty) undertakings.

Gaza Terrorists Continue 11-Year War, Fire Two Mortar Shells

Gaza terrorists resumed 11 years of aerial attacks on Israel late Sunday morning, firing two mortars shells on the western Negev.

The IDF reported on Twitter, “2 rockets fired from #Gaza just landed in Eshkol Regional Council, home to 11,000 Israelis.”

If the past policy continues, the IDF will launch a counterterrorist strike within the next 24 hours on terrorist rocket launching squads, weapons manufacturing factories and warehouses or tunnels used by terrorists to smuggle weapons and to infiltrate into Gaza Belt communities.

And last, the following article is most definitely worth reading:

The Sprectre of 1932: How A Loss Of Faith In Politicians And Democracy Could Make 2012 The Most Frightening Year In Living Memory

As commentators often remark, the world picture has not been grimmer since the dark days of the mid-Seventies, when the OPEC oil shock, the rise of stagflation and the surge of nationalist terrorism cast a heavy shadow over the Western world.

For the most chilling parallel, though, we should look back exactly 80 years, to the cold wintry days when 1931 gave way to 1932.

And in the last days of 1932, after the technocrats and generals had failed to restore order, President Paul von Hindenburg began to contemplate the unthinkable — the prospect of Adolf Hitler as Chancellor of Germany.

We all know what happened next. Indeed, by the end of 1932 the world was about to slide towards a new dark age, an age of barbarism and bloodshed on a scale that history had never known.

Eighty years on, it would be easy to sit back and reassure ourselves that the worst could never happen again. But that, of course, was what people told each other in 1932, too.

Our world is poised on the edge of perhaps the most important 12 months for more than half a century. If our leaders provide the right leadership, then we may, perhaps, muddle through towards slow growth and gradual recovery.

But if the European elite continue to inflict needless hardship on their people; if the markets continue to erode faith in the euro; and if Western politicians waste their time in petty bickering, then we could easily slip further towards discontent and disaster.

The experience of 1932 provides a desperately valuable lesson. As a result of the decisions taken in those 12 short months, millions of people later lost their lives.

Today, on the brink of a new year that could well prove the most frightening in living memory, we can only pray that our history takes a very different path.

NDAA is now the law of the land. The government can now detain as well as assassinate those opposed to the regime.

  5. Dutch Treat said "...Happy New Year to all of you. I must admit I've been somewhat ambivalent about it since all the Y2k hype.

    2012...like...Y2K...?!?

Y2K - Most of the world believes that it was a big, hyped-up, non-event because, to this day, very little of the truth is still ever reported by the 'Lame-Stream Media' of all the Herculean efforts by major companies, Network Engineers, & programmers world-wide to solve and avert a very real problem!

I worked for a company that manufactured computerized safety monitoring equipment [air composition & toxic gas detectors] for major chip manufacturing companies around the world.

Since lives were at stake if our equipment "locked-up" and failed to detect these lethal gases, we worked on this for well over a year & a half, and we identified a number of 'roll-over' problems both in our own software as well as bios errors in the various industrial-grade computer boards that we used & we got the bios chip makers to fix the programming errors we found there too.

I mentioned this a couple yrs ago at a sister site when the 2012 topic came up and was poo-pooed by referencing Y2K.

When an event is deliberately under-reported and becomes a "non-event", I can't help my 'conspiratorial' suspicions being raised, wondering if the "wise as serpents" warning is being glossed over in favor of the "harmless as doves" mantra and a "set up" for being blind-sided...

I have a friend who needs very serious prayer, he was raised in a christian family and knows all about God, knows the bible yet he hates God, hates Christianity, hates church and thinks he is trash himself. his heart is very hard. he is addicted to heroine and is at the point to where there is only 2 options, go to a very intense rehab or end up dead....and if that happens he will enter eternity without God and go into eternal torment forever but he doesn't realize his situation is that serious and I'm the only christian friend he respects. i been friends with him for over 6years. he needs serious prayer

  11. Wow... the need for prayer is so GREAT. DrNo, so good to see you here and I will keep your wife in my prayers!

hartdawg, I will pray for your friend, as well. Perhaps, just perhaps if you could get him to watch those youtube videos of Doreen Irvine that EI posted...perhaps it would help him to see that he needs Jesus to overcome his addiction. (Doreen was a drug addict too, so maybe he could relate.)

I doubt it very much...they will NOT devalue the dollar, BUT the Euro is the problem. It is already getting devalued, just as Elliott
    Wave . COM predicted.

And have you been noticing the GOLD ?? I have been warning for
MONTHS on this blog that Gold was due for a major collapse....and
ever since 6 SEP 2011, down it goes.

Problem is that when all the dollar DEBT gets liquidated,
    the DEMAND for dollars will
    explode, since the remaining
dollars will be worth much more.

I KNOW most people do not see it that way. Bob Prechter at EWI
    explained it well. Since the
dollar has the MOST debt build
up, that is why when ALL that
    debt is liquidated, this happens.

And entering a deflation, as I believe we are GOING into now,
    that is what happens.

MOST people think we will have hyperinflation next, they are
    mistaken.

  13. Brother Hartdawg, :)
Myself and Mr.C are lifting your friend up in great Prayer! Forgive me Brother, but His Word, Scripture, is all you need, it is more powerful than any video or a book.
    Romans 12:21
21Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good.

Focus on His Light, His Love. Brother, I have known heroin addicts, and many other kind of addicts. My very good friend went through Betty Ford, and ended up teaching some of their courses.
His family, friends and work all need to press charges against him! Jail Brother, would be the best thing for your friend! Its called hitting bottom, and that’s what he needs. That would be a forced sobriety; they will give him medical drugs for withdrawal. When he is sober, be their for him! That is the time to Witness to him, when he is at his lowest point. Show him Gods Love, share His Word, and encourage him! Share God Loves him, even if he feels he doest love God. Share Gods Promises! I will hope for strength for you, and Gods healing for your friend!

    God Bless You Hartdawg!

  14. Hart...your not gonna want to hear what i have to say but i hope you will listen! The BEST THING THAT COULD HAPPEN IS THIS KID GOES TO JAIL! Stop enabling him! Thats why he keeps on getting farther into dope. Everybody feels sorry for him and tries to help him which lets him continue yo do dope and steal etc! He doesnt want to stop! Go to an narcotics anonymous meeting and ask those guys whats up. Pray for God to put him in a situation that will knock some sense in his head! Jail really sucks but it will temporarily sober him up and force him to truly look at what he has been doing! So here it goes...Father, please do WHATEVER it takes to wake this kid up! We send angels in Jesus name to surround him and keep him safe during this process. Surround him with your word Lord, and don't give him a minutes peace until he changes! We pray this and stand together in Jesuz name! Amen. HD find out who the local prison ministers are and get ready cuz sober, sobbing and sick boy will be ready for the word on the other side of that cold grey cinderblock wall! No matter what you say to him now will not matter one lick because satan is controlling his mind 100%! Be ready to help WHEN he gets in a spot where he wants to chsnge and he wont reach that spot until his life is a living hell! -ally

hartdawg, I agree with ally and Mrs C. 25. Brother Hartdawg, :)
Hang in there! It is very difficult, but you have to separate yourself emotionally and realize that Tom, right now, it not the Tom you know and care for.
Toms folks have to realize this too! Keep an eye on him, but see him as an acquaintance or even a stranger that is sick and needs help. He is in no way thinking clearly. Drug addicts can be EXTEMELY manipulative, and deceptive. BTW, stealing from family, friends etc, in common with addicts. :(
It is tough Hartdawg, but draw on the Strength of Jesus, welcome His Holy Spirit. Ask Him to give you the right words, the right actions towards Tom. But know this, the Son of Almighty God, Jesus Christ is with you and Tom, and his parents! He Promised to be with all of us, He Promised He would never, ever leave us or forsake us!

    God Bless You!

  26. I hope Tom gets to Heaven, I really do, I have asked Jesus to
    help him to be saved.
I am not SURE that jail is the
answer. I hope it does NOT get
    to that.

I was offered drugs in HS a long time ago, I REFUSED....

I got enough problems to deal with
    as it is.

I am HOPING that I can meet TOM in
Heaven one day and be his best friend.

I don't know hwat else to say.
I know about Elliott Wave, but
NOT about dealing with a drug problem like this....

seems like the guy is lost in a black world, needs to be SAVED out
of it. Hartdawg, please tell TOM
he has someone named Steve in Hawaii that cares about him.

    ALOHA

  27. Hart:

Hey brother. I am praying for Tom and especially you right now. I love your heart man. I lost my sister to a heroine overdose in 1996.

She spent most of her life running away from home. A life of regrets led her deep into drug addiction. She gave herself the fatal dose after cutting herself off from the family.

We were all so numb to what she was going through having gone through it with her for over 20 years. My parents truly did everything they could for her but the drugs kept her from sustaining her recovery.

At the time of her death, I hate to say this but atleast it was an end to having to live through that over and over. Now 15 years later, and after losing a child myself, I have a different understanding of her and her life. One I miss her dearly and two that her mental illness/drug addicition had progressed to such a sad level that God stepped in and took her home. She had accepted Christ at 13years old. She was a believer and because of that I know I will see her again. honestly I can't wait to see her reconciled before the Lord. She was so beautiful.

I agree with Mrs C. and please know that it's never too late for Tom to accept Christ. I know you know that. Praying for you my friend.

  28. Hart-let him know you love him and Jesus does too! Also let him know, while he may have begun this drug use somewhat innocently, his behavior is his responsibility and no one elses. Also let him know he has gravely injured others with this behavior, and frankly, until he decides to change it....you want nothing to do with him. However, if and when he decides to change, you will be there 100% for him! If you have power or influence with his family or the courts-try to get them to hold him responsible for his actions! Having a felony sucks, but he is young, and can chalk it up later to youthful indescression and employers will be ok about it. Its possible the judge will drop the charges if he can stay sober for a year. His attorney should be involved in working this stuff out. God bless you! This deliverance will be this kids testimony for Christ! Funny how that works! ally

  29. James-my brother, I love you so dearly! I can tell you have had many tradegies in your life. So have I. What I didn't understand then, but I know now so well, is Jesus allowed us to experience these horrible painful things so we could have a closer walk with him, and a better understanding. We are also able to minister to other suffering people because we have truly been in those deep places of sorrow. . Our walk is still only beginning. What he has planned is so powerful, I don't even want to know! I probably couldn't pull it off if I knew details. lol. I need to follow him blindly through the dark for he is the light! ;) One day soon, Jesushimself will wipe the tears from our eyes and we remember these sorrows no more! ally
