Pope To Hold "Interreligious" Council With World Religious Leaders

Today we see even more "road paving" towards the Tribulation, and this reality can't be more stark than the report below:

Pope to promost peace in talks with world religious leaders

Pope Benedict XVI has invited 300 religious leaders to a meeting in Assisi in Italy to repudiate “violence in the name of God” amid growing tensions fuelled by fundamentalists across the world.

The day of interreligious council, which will be held on Thursday in St. Francis of Assisi’s birthplace, is intended to be a “journey of reflection, dialogue and prayer for peace and justice in the world,” the Vatican said.

Over 50 Islamic representatives are expected to attend the talks from several countries, including Saudi Arabia and Iran.

They will be joined by Rabbis, Hindus, Buddhists, Jains, Sikhs, a Zoroastrian, a Bahai and representatives of Taoism and Confucianism as well as of other traditional religions from Africa and America.

For the first time, four atheists will also attend the meeting, which is traditionally organised so as not to coincide with the Muslim day of prayer on Friday, the Jewish one on Saturday or the Christian one on Sunday.

The meeting is being criticised by Catholic fundamentalists who are strongly against the idea of dialogue with other religions. French fundamentalist Regis de Cacqueray said 1,000 masses would be needed to be said in reparation.

Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger, the then prefect of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, chose not to attend because of concerns shared by traditionalists that it risked mixing religions into a vague common belief.

“Interreligious dialogue has spread” over the last 25 years, and the pope sees it “as a common, irrevocable heritage of Christian sensibility,” he said.

The pope’s main aim is for participants to agree to “a common commitment to reject the instrumentalism of religion and the use of violence in the name of God,” said a Vatican insider.

A burning torch will be symbolically presented to the delegations in the hope that they will take the message back with them to their communities.

So now even atheists are attending this "interreligious council" which is interesting to say the least.

We should expect to see more and more of these kinds of meetings in the future.

  1. I see nothing wrong with open dialogue with people of other faith traditions. What I have a problem with, is earlier this week, he called for an economic/ political world government. His motives are questionable at best . . .and dangerous at worst.

With the Church gone after the rapture . . .the rumor that Benedict will retire next spring being circulated . . .and the pesky Malachi Pope Prophecy predicting the next pope will be the last, I can't help but ponder the role of the Catholic Church once Protestant Christians are gone. We know the AC will come from the Roman Empire that destroyed Jerusalem in 70AD. Could Benedict be paving the way for the AC with all this one world talk?

  2. Yea, I agree Robin, In isolation, it may not be too big of a deal - unfortunately it isn;t in isolation; the overall context has to be taken into consideration (as you have done) which includes much more than the calls for a world governance.

  3. K . . .sorry, just thinking out loud now . . .but the Bible tells us the AC, will rule, for a time, in Babylon. Could Babylon be the symbolic term for the Vatican?

. . .and before I'm accused of Catholic bashing, let me just say, I was a devout Catholic all my life, until my divorce from an abusive spouse of 24 years and could no longer participate in church sacraments without an annulment, which I refused on grounds of costs ($10,000 approx) and it wouldn't have been the right thing to do toward my now grown children. Best decision I ever made . . .for its THEN I formed a REAL relationship with the Lord that didn't require intercessors on my behalf. I sincerely didn't realize all those years I wasn't REALLY a Christian . . .even being deeply offended when non-Catholics suggested I wasn't.

So now, this whole thing has me wondering. IS the next Pope the last because he, himself is the AC?

  5. I have a bigger problem with unified religion than unified economies, although both roads lead to the same place.

  6. Well, DrNo....I think it takes both of them to get the Trib Tango started...a False Prophet and an AC.

Looks like the BIG dance partners are pairing up for the last twirl around the dance floor.

Wonder if they know who's gonna lead and who's gonna follow at the start? Might be a few sore toes at the till they get the rhythm and steps down.

  7. Anon- I actually did a very early (6:15 am) Bible study this morning and then had to go to work from there!

Presented the Rapture of the Church to a small group. Love doing that. But being gone that early is pretty rare (thankfully!)

Robin, I have always believed that Mystery Babylon is a representation of Rome - for a variety of reasons.

  8. I can see how there could possibly be a one world government/economy for a time before the rapture . . .but I simply do not think a global religion is possible while the Holy Spirit dwells within the church . . .so i don't think it's anything we're going to have to face.

  9. Hi Robin, It's a very strong possibility IMO that the Pope will/could be the Anti-Christ again. As you know, the Pope is deemed by the Church, "Vicor", as good as Christ on earth. From AD 538 - AD 1798 the church was basically in charge of the world and slaughted millions of Christians over a 1260 year period for not conforming to their doctrinal beliefs. In 1798 Napoleon put a stop to the Church and it's wholesale slaughter of people.
I have seen articles insisting that the Catholic church is secretly behind all that is going on and the intention is to return world dominion to the Pope through the stirring work of millions of Jesuits through out the world. I've also seen on numerous occasions over the past few weeks that the next Pope is not far away and wiil be an apostate ie: revolutionary in his intentions for the church and the world (a nice way to put it).
"Anti" means "in place of" and the only position which has ever claimed to be in place of Christ on earth is the Pope. So I'm with you in suspecting the Pope to be the next Anti-Christ.
Some people may disagree with my assessment but oh well. David.

  10. Robin- The Holy Spirit would not be in false churches anyway. Any church that lays down the Bible for the koran or tao lost the Holy Spirit a long tome ago. We can be here to see evil unite.

  12. Some good thoughts here!

*A* Pope will be the False Prophet. The politically linked all encompassing religions of Rome is Jezebel/Harlot who is riding the political Beast. This is now the world wide Ecumenical Movement who teach that we all worship the SAME God in different ways.

At the previous Ecumenical meeting in Assisi they had the Bible on the altar along with the Koran and other ‘spiritual’ writings as well. They also had joint prayers. This is much more than dialogue with other religions.

The False Prophet is the SPIRITUAL leader of the Harlot church. All Popes are False Prophets; as yet we don’t know if THE False Prophet will be Pope Benedict or yet another? The only thing in doubt is the actual name of the False Prophet.

It is the f/p who will set up the image of the beast in the Temple and cause the world to worship the beast in the middle of the Week at the 6th Trumpet – the antichrist will be revealed after the removal of the Body/Bride/Church of Jesus Christ. His revealing will start the 7 years.

The Emergent Harlot church is HERE!

Sorry this is rushed, no time just now!

  14. ....and they say peace, peace.

I wonder do any of them read the Bible and know who is in control?

As for me i am so excited as Jesus Christ is coming back for his bride...and His Word says it will be when all these things take place.

Rest in the Lord. Rejoice in Lord.

Blessings in the victorious name of our Lord Jesus Christ.
