Israel Floats 'Interim Solution' Proposal at UN To Stem Palestinian Statehood Tension
There were frantic efforts at the United Nations on Tuesday to avoid a Friday face-off over Palestinian statehood.
With the clock ticking toward a showdown, Israel floated the possibility of an “interim solution” to allow the Palestinians to establish a state within existing borders in Gaza and the West Bank and deal with all the tough stuff later, reports CBS 2’s Marcia Kramer.
The proposal comes as Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas pressed ahead with his campaign for statehood. He intends to speak at the UN on Friday and demand that the Security Council grant the Palestinians statehood status immediately.
One has to wonder if this idea could somehow be the genesis of a 7 year "interim" agreement, similar to the structure presented by the Oslo Accords of 1993.
We shall see.
I heard that the vote is going to be delayed. How much more progress do they hope to make in a few weeks that they haven't made yet?
ReplyDeleteScott >>>>>
ReplyDeletePLEASE tell me if you hear any more
about this. I read the article.
Seems the PA really does NOT want an INTERIM solution....
BUT if that happens , please post
right away, since 7 years WOULD
NO DOUBT be confirmed by the real
AC, whoever he is.
IF THAT WERE to happen, then of
course the rapture would be imminent, since AC would be revealed at the point of confirming
the deal.
Stephen >>>>>>>>
Dylan, there are more diplomatic games going on here than we can ever imagine. At this point, I suspect real progress has taken on a totally different definition than anything we can imagine.
ReplyDeleteThis thing has developed more twist and turns than an agitated black snake. If nothing else, it probaly buys Israel at least a few days of relative peace and quite on most of their fronts.
Turkey and Hamas appear the two wild cards here.
Stephen,
ReplyDeleteEndlessly repeating something while ignoring challenges to it is rude. Please respond to the statement made by several of us here:
The Day of the Lord is NOT the Rapture, so the AC appears between those two events.
Thanks in advance.
Good morning.
ReplyDeleteOne of the most refreshing and mature things I heard Scott say when I first heard him speak was that he beieved in a pre trib rapture and he showed us why. But he also said I am not here to argue this. I am presenting the evidence of the growing signs of Christ's return. Arguiing over seven years is silly. He is coming
very soon either way.
Can we not let Stephen alone on this? The majority of Christians
believe as he does. We disagree but where there is error the Lord will show us. He is rewarding those who are doing their work to His glory when He comes. I have never read of rewards for who got the most details right.Stephen wants what we want. For the Lord to come. Let's rejoice in that.
Many Godly people believe other than we do. Let's let God be God.
We can disagree but demanding that he agree with us doesn't seem right to me. Blessings in Him
The problem is not that Stephen disagrees.
ReplyDeleteThe problem is that he keeps repeating it endlessly and never, not once, responding to anyone's questions for him. In any other venue this would be considered trolling.
Waterer, the problem, IMHO, is that may folk read this forum. Nor all are saved. If false teaching is presented and not challenged and an unsaved person reads it and sees it come to pass as different....then what does that do to his/her chances of coming to salvation based on Faith? That Faith has just been discredited due to false teaching.
ReplyDeleteEvery potential false teaching needs to be challenged to the extent that an unsaved person understands there was contention on the subject. It needs to be presented as a personal opinion, not solid, agreed upon, Biblical fact.
Good points Paula and I think it is also appropriate to make the correction so visitors will not think this is the Blog/Scott's position.
ReplyDeleteTo me it is admonishment in love and action based on I Thessalonians 5:14-15 and also Matthew 5:20-25.
We can certainly agree to disagree on non-core issues but I also think it is rude to continue to filibuster on an issue without ever attempting to defend the position put forth or to answer the questions asked.
Just a little deference would go a long way....that is not too much to ask to maintain unity and peace in the body of Christ.
Stephen is doing what we crudely call an 'up yours'; accompanied by a two finger salute V to his longsuffering and gracious host who has asked him very nicely, many times, to effectively 'take his feet off the table' at which we all sit.
ReplyDeletePaula is right, but rude is mild as I find his attitude ignorant and void of respect for his host; as well as the rest of us. Instead, he thinks he is being clever and doesn't give a toss for unity and peace.
Stephen is an attention seeking SELF promoter with his attitude of “Stephen RULES, OK!” And if we don't like it - tough!
I see nothing wrong in disagreeing with someone's point and correcting that point in love. But I humbly believe making it personal isn't the Christian way and could affect how those pre-saved individuals who might find this blog view Christianity.
ReplyDeleteSo then,
ReplyDelete--It's bad to publicly confront trolls.
--It's good to publicly confront those who confront trolls.
Sort that out for me, would you?
Galatians 5:13-26
ReplyDelete13.For, brethren, ye have been called unto liberty; only use not liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another.
14.For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this; Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
15.But if ye bite and devour one another, take heed that ye be not consumed one of another.
16.This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.
17.For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would.
18.But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law.
19.Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,
20.Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies,
21.Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.
22.But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,
23.Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.
24.And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.
25.If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.
26.Let us not be desirous of vain glory, provoking one another, envying one another.
How Pre-saved view ‘Christianity’!
ReplyDeleteFrankly, Christianity is hardly a standard to hold up for admiration. The world isn’t daft, it is all too aware of Christianity’s failings and the Christians who like to pretend they are better than they are.
The difference between Christians and the world is that we are saved from the penalty of sin by God’s grace through faith, in Jesus Christ’s substitutionary sacrifice on the cross. It is Jesus Christ Himself who is the standard of perfection; we aren’t there yet by a long chalk as we falter in the loooong sloooow process of BEING sanctified by The Holy Spirit; and we have to be willing to die daily to self for that to happen.
So world; don’t do as I do, rather do as I say and Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ as the ONLY ONE who can save you from Eternal separation from God. It is Jesus Christ ALONE who has the Words of Eternal Life; that’s why Christ-ones follow Him, there is no one else.
Good points, everyone.
ReplyDeleteHere's my spin on Stephen. While he may not be a troll, IMHO, he is acting "trollish". But he certainly has a right to his own opinion about when the ac will be revealed. You know, it really doesn't matter. I think it is a better idea to be waiting patiently for our Lord than to be looking for the ac.
I think about these things a lot, and I feel that I need to be getting ready to meet our Lord just as a bride would be getting ready to meet her new husband. What am I doing to prepare? If I have only a short time left on this earth, is there something I've left undone?
These are my thoughts during these last days and I feel that Stephen should be free to think as he wishes.
Again, NO ONE is telling Stephen he can't think as he wishes.
ReplyDeleteNO ONE is saying that.
But in keeping with the idea that it's A-OK to continually ignore everyone who asks any questions, I'm going to just start ignoring everyone. I'll make statements I know are opposed to the blog owner and just keep repeating them and never respond to even the nicest requests for explanation. And no one is allowed to criticize me for it. Kind of like letting people drop trash everywhere and never ask them to pick it up.
How's that?
I don't understand the term Trolling. It makes me think of a shrimp boat. Or the word troll, I think of those ugly things under the bridge in Billy Goat Bluff.
ReplyDeleteWhere there is heresy and false teaching, of course the Scriptural record should be set forth.
I just feel as a visitor here that Stephen seems to have gotten on nerves . I have seen him take off caps , leave awhile come back again.
And I read him grappling with the news of the day according to how he thinks. He doesn't call people names.
The difficult thing about a blog, or email for that matter is that we can say things and they sound
so different than if we were speaking them. No eye contact, no voice intonations.
Paula you may well have said your comment with a smile on your face
like "come on Guy, Talk to us" But
it didn't read that way. Instead I thought Wow I would hate be openly rebuked in front of the invisible world as if I was barly to be tolerated anymore.
Stephen is still technically a pretriber. What will we do to the mid or postie?
Thank you Sue for the Scripture.
ANd forgive me Paula if you felt that I was personally attacking you.
I did think that Stephen was personally undervalued in this
blog family.
I get the frustration if he doesn't answer the challenges.
The few times he has ( one recently
saying he learned this from Lindsey in 1977 and he wasn't changing on it.)
Now Lindsey has asked to be critiqued by his readers. It is important to check everything out .
A more pertinent discussion might be. Does Lindsey still think as Stephen does and why? Or if he doesn't , pointing that out to Stephen.
He may still not respond. But the silent group reading this will hear our discussion with the assurance that if they weigh in here they WILL receive respect.
Paula, How did your Mom's Dr's appt go?
Overall, he seems genuinely Christian enough [and I say that honestly in retrospect] and, obviously, is intelligent enough, and keeps up well enough in current events & politics in his quest to find the AC, but it is his singular insistances on the AC thing without debate, and the Dollar/Gold/Elliot Wave issue that was throwing me [and others] off for a while.
ReplyDeleteWe couldn't decide if he was an agent/shill for E.W., using the AC issue for a veiled entrance to the blog, or if he was naively over-estimating his intelligence and knowledge of the subjects by ignoring counsel from other sources.
It was only about a month before his -ALL CAPS response to our repeated requests to stop with the ever increasing use of caps, that I became aware of a 3rd option that might possibly be at play here, because it was becoming increasingly clear that no professional person, especially in sales, would scare off all their potential 'customers' with the increasing shrillness of his posts!
That eliminated the sales/shill option for me, however, I was reticent to even mention what I was thinking, so I let it go.
What really clinches it was after Scott pleas "...We're all asking that you stop with the caps and start engaging in more serious discussions on these topics, rather than "hit and run..." and Stephen blatantly ignores Scott, posting in all cap again, and after Scott deletes 2 more and asks "Why are you doing this brother?", Stephen responds with a very childish "I will not be posting here anymore..." [ie. I'm taking my ball & going home...], [and the famous last words:] "...u will SEE that I am right about the AC.......you will SEE that we all HAVE TO WAIT for that....."
And of course, then lurking in the background [08.20 - 09.12] til something fired him up again and he couldn't contain himself to stay away any longer...
Unfortunately, this may sound funny to some on the surface [not intended that way], but sadly I have to wonder if his guardian knows he has gained access to the internet and is posting 'stuff'...
I don't see him as trolling. I just think he doesn't have a handle on mature social norms, and as such, can't handle being challenged to debate issues as that would be tantamount to rejection of him rather than disagreeing with his opinions, hence the 'hit & run' approach.
That's precisely my impression, Dr NoFog. Anyone afflicted is deserving of our prayers as we simply can't know.

ReplyDeleteSorry all you serene saints; Stephen is here for my benefit!
ReplyDeleteYou have heard of a ‘fire drill’; someone presses a button, the alarm goes off, and the response is timed with a stop watch.
Yes, well, Stephen is here to test my ‘Irk Drill’. E.I. am being timed to see how slowly EI can retort to an ‘Irk’ alarm! Instead of being double quick; I am in training against my own time of a Double Slow, Anti Rankle and Vex Response when Ire
Ascends me Nostrils at Speed.
Its good news; I am down from a one comment rapid riposte, and averaging about three. I am aiming for a delay of an entire thread, but frankly doubt my nerves can cope with that much rejoinder at my time of life. The decline could bring on me vertigo due to the sudden drop in blood pressure.
On my marks ---
Sue,
ReplyDeleteThat is hilarious!!!!!!!
Funny thing about deleted comments . . .if one selects to be emailed when someone posts, the entire post is included in the email notification. So deleting what's said in haste doesn't always have the intended affect of protecting the unwitting.
