Erdogan to Arab League: Israel to 'Pay a Price'

The anti-Israeli rhetoric continues to grow in leaps and bounds:

Israel to Pay a Price

Prime Minister Recep Erdogan of Turkey used his visit to Egypt on Monday to further "cement” his position as the new leader of the Sunni Arab world with a blistering attack against Israel.

Continuing his anti-Israeli campaign, Erdogan told a meeting of the 22-member Arab League in Cairo that Israel had to "pay a price for its aggression and crimes,” stoking the flames higher regarding a military confrontation between his country and the Jewish state.

Last week, the Turkish government expelled the Israeli ambassador and cut all military ties with the country it had enjoyed close relations with for many years.

In his anti-Israel message in Cairo, Erdogan reminded Egyptians that Israeli forces had recently killed five Egyptian policemen, inflaming what was already an emotional issue in Egypt as well as the anti-Israeli feeling that runs deep in some segments of Egyptian society.

With such a large anti-Israeli audience in Egypt, some members of which had recently attacked the Israeli embassy, it is not surprising Erdogan played the Palestinian card again.

Besides calling for the end of the Israeli blockade of Gaza, he also urged the countries present at the Arab League meeting to support the Palestinians’ bid for statehood next month at the UN. He called their support "an obligation.”

Debka has an interesting update as related to Turkey's growing threat to Israel:

Israeli-Greek defense pact invoked versus Turkish naval and air movements

Israel and Greece have invoked the mutual defense pact they signed secretly only 12 days ago in the light of heavy Turkish sea and air movements in the eastern Mediterranean.

The Greek Prime Minister added to the information recorded so far on Turkish fleet movements in the Aegean and Mediterranean Seas.

He was particularly concerned by the observation flights suddenly increased in the past 48 hours over the Greek island of Kastelorizo in the southeast Mediterranean just two kilometers from the Turkish coast. Those flights are escorted by Turkish combat jets.

Athens fears a Turkish attack on the island, whose population is fewer than 1,000, and an attempt to damage or seize it.

Israel suspects that a Turkish attack on the Greek island will be the signal for Turkish military aggression against its oil and gas platforms located in the Mediterranean between Israel and Cyprus.

Indeed. This could represent Turkey's efforts to establish a staging area for subsequent attacks which would involve Israel's new oil and gas finds and the so-called "disputed borders" at sea.

Papandreou said the Turks are capable of surprise attacks on additional Greek islands near the Turkish coast.

Turkey also backs Lebanon's complaint that Israel is robbing it of its natural resources. Talks between Lebanon and Cyprus to resolve this issue broke down. Beirut refuses any discussion with Israel.

...military sources surmise that in the first stage, Israeli navy and air forces are to be posted at Greek Mediterranean bases. The two intelligence agencies are already sharing input.

This threat covers not only shipping bound for Gaza but also Israel's oil and gas drilling platforms which are more than 60 miles out to sea.

Israeli warships crossing the 12-mile line bounding its territorial waters will be challenged by Turkish warships, which are instructed to approach them to within 100 meters and "disable their weapons."

Welcome to yet another potential tipping point in the powder keg, otherwise known as the Middle East.

  1. I was just making an observation. I noticed the increase in just the number of blogs you've posted over the years, and it's hard to argue with pure raw data. In 2008, 31; 2009, 206; 2010; 523; We're not even nine months into this year and you're up to 600. Maybe there are other factors to consider, such as not being able to post as much as you'd like to in the earlier years; but still, that stood out to me. I like how Jesus uses analogies like "birth pains" so we can relate to what those are like. When my wife went into labor with our kids, they started out mild and further apart; and when it was time to push they were more severe and less than a minute apart. He truly is coming soon. Hallelujah!

  2. "The picture is clearing up. The Palestinian September is an Israeli-Palestinian disaster. The Palestinian September was conceived by two European statesmen - Bernard Kouchner and Javier Solana. Those two naive men figured if they grant international sponsorship to Salam Fayyad's Palestinian-state plan, they would force Israel to make a final-status arrangement."

Writing in Haaretz, Ari Shavit correctly recalls that 'the Palestinian September was conceived by two European statesmen – Bernard Kouchner and Javier Solana.'

Solana, then the European Union’s top foreign policy official, announced in July 2009 that the West should set a deadline, and if an Israeli-Palestinian agreement had not been reached by then (cont'd)"

  9. EI, I used to hang out at Cumbey's blog years ago. She's been obsessed with Solona since she wrote "Hidden Dangers of the Rainbow" a long time ago. I once casually mentioned that I'm pre-trib and you'd have thought I had insulted her mother. They all went ballistic and no amount of explanation was enough-- which I thought a lawyer like her would value. She hates Gary Kah with a passion too.

  10. Hello Audrey

I just switched on Sky News (U.K) and its scrolling past on the News Bar. No details as yet and nothing on the BBC.

    Hello Paula
Thanks for the back-up, she and her site are venomous and best avoided at all costs. Once they find a Pre-Trib site they sink their fangs in and pump their poison.

Scott doesn't like garlic; but it would come in dead handy with those vampires sniffing about! It's to be expected considering there is a full moon.

    God bless

WASHINGTON - The United States on Thursday urged US citizens to leave Syria immediately, saying the government's violent crackdown on peaceful protests had led to an uncertain and volatile situation.

"The US Department of State urges US citizens in Syria to depart immediately while commercial transportation is available," the department said in a warning notice, adding future plans by US citizens to travel to Syria should be deferred.

The State Department had ordered eligible family members of US government employees and certain non-emergency embassy personnel to leave Syria in April.

  15. Hi Scott and family,

I listen to the Mark Levin Show on XM radio last Wednesday when a caller contacted him to report what is now an exploding scandal that Drudge is breaking.

Debbie (not her real name) is a self described low man on the totem pole employee of Solyndra, a solar panel company that was built less than a year ago with stimulus money. According to Debbie:

"While we were out there, while we were building it – cause it is a half a billion dollar plant – everyone already knew that China had developed a more inexpensive way to manufacture these solar panels. Everyone knew that the plant wouldn’t work. But they still did it. They still built it."

According to her, the Washington powers that be sunk BIG money into this plant and outfitted it with the latest technological advancements. No money was spared. But less than a year it went bankrupt, to the tune of half a billion dollars. And all the employees knew that it wasn't meant to be operational for long.

The latest update is that the feds came in and are investigating Solyndra. If there was ever fraud involved, Solyndra qualifies as the poster child for misspent tax dollars under O's direction.

You can listen to Debbie's call here for more info on Solyndra.

Looks like talks are revving up for 23 September hearing at UN for the Pali state. Bibi will be addressing the UN that day. Meanwhile, the US is backpeddling on it and remains mum on the subject. No surprise there. : /

    I hadn't considered that - but there really aren't a lot of variables, other than the fact that pertinent news has indeed increased that much. Its an observation I have made - there are THAT many news';

Just take tonight - I could immediately add multiple posts on things that have happened since this morning.

These are crazy times, and we are RAPIDLY approaching the tribulation - there is no doubting that

  26. Good WND article with talking points to boot. 1100 people lost their jobs--if they even had it at all. An independent counsel will have to comb through the evidence and work around Erik Holder, who will want to sweep it all under the rug.

This is even bigger than the Clinton/Lewinsky scandal that rocked the White House.
