News for the day

This is another one of those days in which we are just full of prophetically linked news. There are too many to even attempt to categorize. The first couple of stories reveal the EU's quest for yet more and more power on the international scene - something that we always watch closely. As mentioned in the comments below, I believe Sarkozy is someone worth watching closely and today is no exception:

Ashton in bid to save Middle East peace talks

The EU official in a letter over the weekend said the Quartet - the EU, Russia, the UN and the US - should hold a high-level meeting before the summer which spells out that Israel must pull back to its 1967 borders in return for security guarantees from the Palestinian side.

The move is designed to give Palestinians an incentive to put aside plans to seek full UN recognition in September, a move which could split the EU into pro-Israeli and pro-Palestinian camps and damage EU-US relations.
The move is designed to give Palestinians an incentive to put aside plans to seek full UN recognition in September, a move which could split the EU into pro-Israeli and pro-Palestinian camps and damage EU-US relations.

A French diplomat said Ashton's initiative was made "in co-ordination" with Paris, which earlier this month called for a top-level Middle East peace conference to be held in Paris in July.

This next story is shocking to say the least, and of course it involves Mr Sarkozy. Today he announces that he wants the G20 to control world-wide food prices.

Sarkozy wants G20 to control food prices

French President Nicolas Sarkozy said Tuesday he wants the world's group of 20 rich industrial nations and major emerging markets to set up a shared central database of food prices to help control market volatility and keep commodity speculators in check.

Sarkozy currently holds the presidency of the G-20 group, with which he wants to push through a plan for more transparency in agriculture commodity market networks. He said it would go a long way toward taming the extreme food price volatility of past years. The G-20 takes up the issue of food prices at a meeting of farm ministers next week.

"It is time for the G-20 to take its responsibility," he told the conference.

Strikes put Greece on the brink

Public services have ground to a halt across the country, including transport services so vital to the lucrative tourist market.

Prime Minister George Papandreou is under huge pressure as he attempts to push his government’s last-ditch attempt to save the economy through parliament.

If his programme of a further 28 billion euros worth of cuts is rejected, Greece risks being cut off from further funding from Europe and the IMF.

Earlier this week the country’s credit rating was cut to one of the lowest in the world.

A default by Greece has huge implications beyond its borders, and of course, on the Euro.

U.S. satellite images capture new buildings at North Korea nuclear plant

North Korea is feared to be accelerating its nuclear programme after US satellite images captured new buildings at the country’s Yongbyon nuclear facility.

The discovery of the new buildings has sparked concern that they may be part of a drive by Pyongyang to fabricate fuel for nuclear reactors or to enrich uranium.

N. Korea 'Exported Massive Amounts of Missiles'

North Korea exported ballistic missiles on more than 500 occasions between 1987 and 2009, according to a report by the U.S. Congressional Research Service. The figure was cited by Jonathan Pollack, a Northeast Asia expert at the conservative Brookings Institution, at a seminar hosted by the Asan Institute for Policy Studies.

He said North Korea is an important source of the missile trade, because it acquires technology from various sources, develops its own missiles, and exports them to other nations. He called it the most important supplier of ballistic missiles for Iran and Syria.

China's Cyberassault on America

Senior U.S. officials know well that the government of China is systematically attacking the computer networks of the U.S. government and American corporations. Beijing is successfully stealing research and development, software source code, manufacturing know-how and government plans. In a global competition among knowledge-based economies, Chinese cyberoperations are eroding America's advantage.

Idaho Governor Selling His State to the Chinese?

The Chinese, by wisely divesting itself of American treasury securities, can take advantage of our federal system (the co-existence of two equal sovereignties) and keep its fingers in American pies by establishing powerful outposts in the 50 states, thus by-passing the chokehold held over the national economy by the bust/boom cycle perpetuated by the Federal Reserve.

Put simply, Idaho (and reportedly other states, as well) are offering the Chinese a way to dump their useless treasury bonds without sacrificing the strength of their clamp on the economic pipeline of American industry.

The specifics of the wheeling and dealing between Idaho’s state government and their Chinese counterparts are unclear with a few exceptions. What is known is that “top Idaho officials have been traveling to China and entertaining the Chinese here, in order to help facilitate this.”

The result of these junkets? American Falls, Idaho will soon be home to a Chinese-owned fertilizer plant. A significant swathe of land south of Boise (about thirty thousand acres) was bought by China, a purchase Idaho’s governor promises will “reinvigorate our American industrial base.”

Constitutionalists of all states must voice their opposition to the wide avenues being paved for China into our state economies. These agreements may soon leave us without the the check on "all encroachments of the national government" our Founders intended the states to be.

U.S. Housing Crisis Is Now Worse Than Great Depression

It's official: The housing crisis that began in 2006 and has recently entered a double dip is now worse than the Great Depression.

Prices have fallen some 33 percent since the market began its collapse, greater than the 31 percent fall that began in the late 1920s and culminated in the early 1930s, according to Case-Shiller data.

Ahmadinejad joins China, Russia leaders at summit

Iran's President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad on Wednesday joined the Chinese and Russian leaders in a rare encounter at a summit in Kazakhstan, where he launched a new attack on the "slavers and colonisers" of the West.

But most attention was focused on Ahmadinejad, who was absent from last year's SCO meeting in Tashkent after the UN Security Council agreed sanctions against Iran and was making a rare appearance at a big international meeting.

U.S. naval movements around Syria. Hizballah moves rockets

DEBKAfile's military and intelligence sources report that Monday, June 13, the US deployed the USS Bataan amphibian air carrier strike vessel opposite Syria's Mediterranean coast with 2,000 marines, 6 war planes, 15 attack helicopters, including new V-22 Ospreys, and 27 choppers for landing forces aboard.Also this week, US naval units went operational in the Aegean, Adriatic and Black Seas as part of the joint US-Ukrainian Sea Breeze 2011 exercise.

This huge concentration of naval missile interceptor units looks like preparations by Washington for the contingency of Iran, Syria and Hizballah letting loose with surface missiles against US and Israeli targets in the event of US military intervention to stop the anti-opposition slaughter underway in Syria.

New Ice Age Approaches?

Old and busted: global warming. New hotness: coldness. Reports from three different studies released yesterday point to the possibility of an extended period of solar inactivity not seen for three hundred years, and one that could bring a new mini-Ice Age:

According to three studies released in the United States on Tuesday, experts believe the familiar sunspot cycle may be shutting down and heading toward a pattern of inactivity unseen since the 17th century.

The signs include a missing jet stream, fading spots, and slower activity near the poles, said experts from the National Solar Observatory and Air Force Research Laboratory.

Soros frontman pushing for Muslim Brotherhood

A former Jordanian diplomat widely quoted in news media in recent months calming fears about the Muslim Brotherhood is a Mideast specialist for a peace institute funded by philanthropist George Soros.

WND previously reported the International Crisis Group, or ICG, led in part by Soros has long petitioned for the Egyptian government to normalize ties with the Muslim Brotherhood. The ICG includes on its board Egyptian opposition leader Mohamed ElBaradei, as well as other personalities who champion dialogue with Hamas, a violent offshoot of the Muslim Brotherhood.

  1. I have thought for some time that Sec. of State Clinton sold prime land to the Chinese in order for them to continue to buy our debt. Interesting that she may now become the World Bank president to oversee international bargaining.

    It's headlines such as these that prompt me to be like Peter and to keep my eyes on Christ before I sink in fear. We know that as these things begin to occur to look up for our redemption draws nigh. : )

  2. Yes, keep our eyes on Christ. Have no fear as our redemption draws near.

    How can help the lost right now? What should we all be doing right now for the lost? I know sharing the Gospel..but how, what is the best way. I feel as if the HS is telling us something as the body of Christ. I feel I am not doing enough to help the lost. Its a frustrating feeling. I have peace, I am not afraid, I am looking up for Christ, and our redemtion, but I am in sorrow for the lost.

    If I were not a Christian, I would be in great fear. I know many must be in fear of the things to come.

  3. TSA is expanding into air defense now. Yeah. It's becoming quite clear who the civilian army is, the one that is "just as strong, just as powerful.." that was mentioned during the '08 campaign.

  4. What must go thru the minds of our national leaders? How can they betray their Country somewhat openly like this? Why would they do this?

    I know we have a Christian world view that guides us but these folks grew up in the greatest nation ever and yet they turn their back for greed and power? Do they not fear the Chinese or the Arabs taking over and having to live in those cultures? I'm sure they beleive they will remain in control but why take the risk?

    It is just hard to see what motivates them. We have had a pretty good thing going here in America. They have had pleanty of power, money and control already.

    The flesh in me wants to fight this but the spirit in me acknowledges the futility and keeps my focus on Christ and His coming. Thank you Jesus for your saving grace and mercy. We look forward to seeing the King of Kings and Lord of Lords face to face. Praise your Holy name! Please come soon and fix this broken world.

  5. Ah, WVBORN, your sentiments are mine, exactly.

    Jesus, we long for your return!

    For some reason Psalm 49 really spoke to me today...

    Hear this, all peoples;
    Give ear, all inhabitants of the world,
    Both low and high,
    Rich and poor together.
    My mouth will speak wisdom,
    And the meditation of my heart will be understanding.
    I will incline my ear to a proverb;
    I will express my riddle on the harp.

    Why should I fear in days of adversity,
    When the iniquity of my foes surrounds me,
    Even those who trust in their wealth
    And boast in the abundance of their riches?
    No man can by any means redeem his brother
    Or give to God a ransom for him—
    For the redemption of his soul is costly,
    And he should cease trying forever—
    That he should live on eternally,
    That he should not undergo decay.

    For he sees that even wise men die;
    The stupid and the senseless alike perish
    And leave their wealth to others.
    Their inner thought is that their houses are forever
    And their dwelling places to all generations;
    They have called their lands after their own names.
    But man in his pomp will not endure;
    He is like the beasts that perish.

    This is the way of those who are foolish,
    And of those after them who approve their words.

    As sheep they are appointed for Sheol;
    Death shall be their shepherd;
    And the upright shall rule over them in the morning,
    And their form shall be for Sheol to consume
    So that they have no habitation.
    But God will redeem my soul from the power of Sheol,
    For He will receive me.
    Selah.

    Do not be afraid when a man becomes rich,
    When the glory of his house is increased;
    For when he dies he will carry nothing away;
    His glory will not descend after him.
    Though while he lives he congratulates himself—
    And though men praise you when you do well for yourself—
    He shall go to the generation of his fathers;
    They will never see the light.
    Man in his pomp, yet without understanding,
    Is like the beasts that perish.

  7. Hi Annon & LM~

    I have seen a few posts lately asking the very questions that you have posed in your post. Should we be doing more? I am at the same place as you. I am at peace about all that is happening in the world because I have my Lord and Savior walking me through this daily. I have to admit some days a great wave of sadness comes over me when I start reading some of the other worldly people posts that are attached to some of these articles. It is something that can't be helped but their denying of God, Jesus, etc. along with the spewing of hate and chuckles sometimes, just drops my spirit to an all time low. Then I cry out to the Lord and this same message below keeps coming to mind:

    2 Samuel 16:19 - New King James Version (NKJV)
    19 Furthermore, whom should I serve? Should I not serve in the presence of his son? As I have served in your father’s presence, so will I be in your presence.”

    It wasn't until April that the Holy Spirit started prompting me to do things that I thought were out of my witnessing realm. I was prompted to post about a recent rapture dream - which was just beautiful while not sounding crazy. So I did.

    I was prompted to purchase little bibles from the dollar store and hand write a note along with the salvation prayer in them and leave them on park benches. I was also prompted to take all my reading materials and free materials that I received in the mail and distribute them side by side with the bibles. Scary stuff but operating in the Holy Spirit I felt at peace. I was on a roll until one day I went to the park a few weeks ago and felt prompted to stop.

    The park was empty. I decided to take my water bottle and purse and just stroll. Still I saw no-one. Then, I decided to pull out the bible to leave and behind me was a man who sat down at the picnic table behind me and said "This is the place I am supposed to eat my sandwich". This man was dressed like he just got off his Harley :) He had tattoos and the confidence like I had never seen. Mind you no-one else was in the park. He could have sat anywhere and he was just not there prior to me retrieving the bible. I simply looked at him and then said "Ok.".and acted like I was on my cell phone. I tucked the bible back in my purse because my spirit was all over the map. I have to admit I didn't feel danger, I felt not quite up to the job. So, I strolled off with a have a nice day. When I got home I told my husband what happened. He explained to me that I just may have lost an opportunity to help someone be saved because I let fear overcome God's ability to do his work. Yes… He was right. I quit before I could try based on looks and being alone in a park with a stranger :)

  8. Part 2

    Since then, this scripture that I have never seen before keeps popping up. So a few minutes ago after I came here to see the latest news. The Holy Spirit prompted me again and said reminded me that while having this family here is wonderful, I must not serve waiting anxiously on the internet (Sorry Scott - my human nature wants to come here all the time. I love the site!) but to get back out there and serve the Lord.

    I am going to be honest. I am scared and excited with all the assignments. I asked and now I am receiving. This week alone he has had people from way out of my past contacting me in some form or fashion. I have been able to witness to them like it's nothing - in a simple conversation by thanking them for the wonderful role they have and are playing in my life. Each one of them said it was as if we just left off yesterday. I told them that is what pure love is. I get to share with them what God has done for me over the years and I get to ask about their lives and how they feel about things happening and it kind of takes off from there. I also have had the opportunity to share with them how I almost missed the mark knowing God but not accepting his son Jesus in to my life a few years ago. That seems to peak their interest and it’s the absolute truth. It has lead to what prayer? Then I just email them the salvation prayer as a complete reminder to all we have talked about and give them something to work with if they haven’t received the gift of salvation. Before I let them go, I let them know how much I love them and I am looking forward to seeing them on the other side. I believe this is the Holy Spirit working again to give me another chance to witness in a different way than the park. I haven’t worked up to the point of great courage but its baby steps. I am finding if I don’t do it, the Holy Spirit keeps prompting me.
    Something amazing is taking place and I don’t want to fail God. I feel many things are coming full circle now. I don’t say all this to boast or brag. I am scared posting this here while not sounding crazy either. I am saying this because, I feel since the question keeps getting asked here, I believe we are to be out in some form or fashion in these last days. Maybe praying about what to do will help. For me starting to prepare for some good-byes in an appreciation of life and love mode has helped this go nicely. I have even sent out an email to all my friends and family thanking them for the role they play in my life while attaching this site to it as well so they can start looking at it in their own comfort zone. I do state, please understand I am not a Harold Camping follower (ha ha) and though we do not know the day nor the hour we still should be like the watchman. Sorry this is so long. I don’t want to push someone into something that is not for them, but I don’t want to ignore the message that keeps coming full circle for me in case this was something I was supposed to relay back to you.

    God Bless!!

    GG

  10. Alice.....I just read your 49 Psalm,

    reminds me of the parable that Jesus told about the rich man that
    stored up all his wealth, but that
    night his soul WAS required of him.

    Well, I only got a little over 200
    dollars to my name, so i guess
    i am NOT warren Buffet or the others like him,

    BUT according to psalm 49, their
    riches are in VAIN....

    see the truth.......

  11. Alice, many thanks for that reference to Psa 49 - its funny because like Stephen, the same thought came to my mind regarding the parable of the rich man.

    WV - I agree and I feel much as you do...I'm instinctively someone who wants to fight for what is right and I am freakish about injustice and what I see around me represents so much injustice...It drives me nuts, and it is why I have to constantly remind myself that I need to be looking up and not at the things of this world..That helps.

    GG - hang in there. We all struggle with these things> I wish I could be more helpful, but try and let the Holy Spirit be your guide and trust it.

    Speaking of the Psalms, Psa 33 always comes to mind:

    v4 "For the word lf the Lord is right and true; He is faithful in all He does..."
    v5 "The Lord loves righteousness and justice. The earth is full of his unfailing love"
    v8 "Let all the earth fear the Lord
    v10 "The Lord foils the plans of the nations; he thwarts the purposes of the peoples"
    v11 "but the plans of the Lord stand firm forever..."
    v13 "From heaven the Lord looks down and sees all mankind
    V14 from His dwelling place he watches all who live on earth
    v16 No king is saved by the size of his army..no warrior escapes by his great strength
    v18 But the eyes of the Lord are on those who fear Him..on those whose hope is in His unfailing love
    v20 We wait for in hope for the Lord
    He is our help and our shield
    v21 In Him our hearts rejoice for we trust in his holy name
    V22 May your unfailing love rest upon us, O Lord, even as we put our hope in you

    AMEN

  12. Thank you, Scott. There's something sooooo comforting about the Psalms...

    Speaking of the Psalms, have you ever heard or read any of J.R. Church's study on the hidden prophecies in the Psalms? Just curious.

    GG, thank you for sharing. It's very encouraging!

    Stephen, I also find it helpful to know that riches are in vain. Thank you, Lord! And please come soon!

  13. GG..
    When I read your post about the HS prompting you to buy little bibles from the dollar store with a note written on salvation inside. I got chills, as I had the exact same prompting a few months ago. I am ashamed to say that after mentioning this to a couple of people they "busted my bubble" so to speak and said most people would not read it. So, I let satan win because I didn't obey the Holy Spirit. Thank you for reminding me, the Holy Spirit just prompted me once again through you. I will do the same thing, and I am excited. Thank you and God Bless!

  16. Thanks for understanding in that long post. I could relate to the desires and feelings coming at us lately to do more, but what and how? It's scary. Then again..I believe God knows that and I believe wants us to step out in faith and do something vs nothing. Ohhh..how I want to please him by following the promptings of the HS. This is the first time in my life that the promptings are so strong and like clockwork. I pray he will use you and give you all strength too as we continue to wait anxiously on the Lord.
