I don't think this one requires any commentary:
The Knesset opened its winter session on Monday, with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu saying that he would be willing to extend a construction freeze in West Bank settlements if the Palestinians recognize Israel as a Jewish state.
Unfortunately up until now the Palestinians have not responded to this call.
"I made this message clear in quiet ways last month, and I am saying it here, now, in public: If the Palestinian leadership will say unequivocally to its people that it recognizes Israel as the nation state of the Jewish people, I will be willing to gather my government and ask for another suspension of construction for a limited time," Netanyahu said.
"The refusal to recognize the rights of the Jewish people and its historic connection to the place is the root of the conflict and without solving this, the conflict will never end.
A rather simple request isn't it?
Netanyahu is essentially saying: "Allow us to exist" or "Recognize Israel as an independent nation - a Jewish state", and Israel will continue with the peace talks.
That shouldn't be so hard, should it?
And if it doesn't happen, should Israel REALLY continue with "peace talks"?
That was SMART thinking! But, I will be greatly surprized IF it will happen.
ReplyDeleteLet's ALL remember to pray for Bibi and the leaders of the Israeli goverment to have wisdom, discernment and protection for them and their families. And, All the service men and women in Israel also. That they will have a 360 degree vision of danger at all times.
Pray for the peace of Jerusalem!
Thanks Scott for the ministry you do! We greatly appreciate you!
Kathy
It was pretty clever wasn't it?
ReplyDeleteThats always a good reminder - t pray for the peace of Jerusalem...Something Joel Rosenberg is good at remembering. And as stated, praying for the protection of the people of Israel against pending terrorism.
Many thanks for the kind words :)
God Bless
