The World's Oldest Disease

Thats the title of a new commentary by Jan Markell. As usual she accurately portrays the situation today:

The world remains sick with a very old disease for which no cure has ever been found. It tends to go into remission now and then, but it always reappears as virulent as ever. It even develops into new strains. Some have called it a lethal obsession. It is called anti-Semitism, and if the Jews did not exist, some anti-Semite would invent him. It's that bad.

The Helen Thomas story is now old but it was very revealing. In just a brief moment of time, she spewed in microcosm what kings, generals, fuhrers, pharoahs, and Muslim extremists have done in legion. She tried to dispossess the Jews. None of Israel's enemies have any knowledge of what the Bible has to say about the land or the people of Israel.

For someone to tell a Jew in Israel to "go home" also makes no sense because they are home. They may have passed through Germany or Poland, or Russia as my grandparents did, but the Bible reveals that Israel is their home. Of all earth's inhabitants, only the Jews have a deed to a piece of land from God as recorded in the Bible. But then not even most church members even know that, let alone the monsters of the world.

The destiny of the Jew is to be eternally unsafe around the world. The day is coming when friends of Israel will also feel uneasy and unsafe.

There is global outrage when Israel tries to defend herself from rockets or "activists" bearing lethal weapons, riding in a flotilla while world powers who arm themselves with weapons of mass destruction receive little chastisement. Terrorists such as Hamas and Fatah actually receive U.S. aid while Israel is scolded, threatened, and humiliated by Washington. Any Israeli act of self-defense becomes a massacre, genocide, or ethnic cleansing.

In recent decades, the anti-Semitism has sprouted new wings and turned into anti-Israel activity and sentiment. It's bad enough that the Jews exist, but to have their own nation is more than most can stomach. Colleges in the Western world are riddled with anti-Israel sentiment. You can find Israel-bashing events, often called Israeli Apartheid Week, on dozens of campuses.

So why the anti-Israeli sentiment throughout the world?

So what is the spiritual connection? The devil is in the details. He knows the Bible better than many Christians. Satan knows that the Jews are the key to the end of the age -- from how it plays out to where it plays out. He knows that if he could exterminate the Jews, perhaps his demise could be thwarted. Helen Thomas doesn't understand that nor do the Islamic empires who want to vaporize the people and nation of Israel.

It is only this ugly age-old anti-Semitic sentiment that calls the terrorist occupants on the Turkish boat Mavi Marmara good, and the nation of Israel, evil (Isaiah 5:20). You can see in this video that the Israelis, who were armed with paintball guns, are being mercilessly beaten with multiple kinds of objects. But the world doesn't care. They have bought the lie. The lie is that there would be world peace if only Israel and the Jews would disappear. They won't. That's a guarantee. Their greatest hour is yet future.

The enemies of Israel believe now is the time they can destroy her. But the Bible says, Then shall the Lord go out and fight against those nations (Zechariah 14:3). God says, When you go out to battle against your enemies and see horses and chariots and people more numerous than you, do not be afraid of them; for the Lord your God who brought you up from the land of Egypt, is with you (Deuteronomy 20:1).

God always has the last say in these matters, and this story is FAR from over. God will end this situation under His terms and His terms alone. Period.

Again, as mentioned before - the world is unwittingly paving the road to the Tribulation. Persecution directed against the Nation of Israel will continue, as will persecution against Christians - two groups hated by Satan. He will have complete rule of this earth for a seven year period - once the presence of the Holy Spirit is removed at the time of the Rapture of the Church.

The preparations are just beginning.

  1. Scott, I have an "age old" question. If the Holy Spirit is taken out of the world before the trib, how is it that there will be tribulation saints? Won't they need the Spirit, also? I've often wondered this. What do you think?

  2. Tasarwen said... If the Holy Spirit is taken out of the world...

Tasarwen, since God is omnipresent it is impossible for Him to be taken "out of the world" [a common mis-speak].

    1 Kings 8:27
But will God indeed dwell on the earth? behold, the heaven and heaven of heavens cannot contain thee; how much less this house that I have built?

    Psalm 139:8
If I ascend up into heaven, thou art there: if I make my bed in hell, behold, thou art there.

    Acts 17:28
For in him we live, and move, and have our being; as certain also of your own poets have said, For we are also his offspring.

Rather, it is His restraining influence, which is indwelling in the bodies of the church saints, that stands aside after the rapture, and gives an open hand to the evil in man and demons.

After the rapture, the last 7 yrs of the OT economy [the unfinished 70th week of Daniel 9:24-27] begins again, and in the OT the HS would come "upon" certain people now and then for power and/or prophecies, but not permanently indwelling them. Yet all, in both OT & NT are saved by faith!

    Hope this helps.

  3. Well stated DrNO!
Thanks for that - I agree completely.

Look at the comments in the post above this one, I filled in the gaps regarding the "restrainer" as representing the Holy Spirit.

We're saying the same thing (but your explanation was perfect).

    God Bless
    Scott

  4. Scott, Dude...

Don't award me the Nobel before I've properly earned it...unlike that Obumr dude!

You had me totally buffaloed by your "Look at the comments in the post above this one..."!
I went up & down this "article" looking for something that was new, until I happened to check around for recently "posted comments" on the other "Articles" that you have put up on "your" blog!

I have always understood, and seen it portrayed elseware this way: A blog consists of "articles" that you "put up", and we [the un-washed masses ;-D] "post" comments on your 'articles'.

    So don't cut yourself short!

You 'posted', in return, 3 excellent points of the HS' divinity...#3 especially, because it speaks of His "logical intelligence" as a "person", rather than the occultic 'religions' that portray Him as just 'the force be with you', a 'power', when Jesus says "He" will comfort you,.. "He" will "testify of Me"!... "He" will "show you things to come"...etc.

  5. Ha! Good point DrNo...I gotta get the terminology down:) OTOH, I do like the fact that I had you 'buffaloed' for a while...for all you know, that was my intent :)

One more point -as you mention, the Holy Spirit is often referred to scripturally as "he" in that way shown. As far as the scripture in Thessalonians, the reference to the Holy Spirit as the restrainer is consistent with all of the other pre-tribulation scriptures. In other words, we'll be gone before the identity of the AC is revealed.

  6. Thank you DrNoFog. Your explanation makes sense. Often I feel sad at what the trib saints will have to endure. I'd like to think that God will have a special way of being with them. It is comforting to think that the HS will be here with them, even if "he" is not restraining the evil that will be allowed to run free.
