War Preparations in the Middle East

"Syria stands ready if "war is imposed"

In this article:

Damascus stands ready if "war is imposed" by Israel as regional tensions rise and hopes for peace fade, Syrian President Bashar al-Assad told Lebanese television Wednesday.

"We are faced with an enemy that has shown until this day that it understands nothing but the language of force, and it seems that peace in the region is not in the horizon," Assad said in an interview in Arabic with the Hezbollah-run Al-Manar television late Wednesday.

His statement came amid heightened tension in the region and concern in Lebanon over recent Israeli threats against Shiite militant party Hezbollah and its backers Syria and Iran.

"Damascus" needs to be careful with their rhetoric at this time in history. Very careful. Isaiah 17 is as predictable as any other biblical prophecy - specific, accurate, and highly literal. And it will happen, it is just a matter of time.

----------

In a separate article, this one from the Jerusalem Post, Arab league chief Amr Moussa states: "We must prepare for failure of the peace process"

Quotes:

Arab league chief says the situation "has reached a turning point"; Abbas: No peace deal while e. J'lem occupied; Erdogan calls Israeli policy on east Jerusalem "madness."

“We must prepare for the possibility that the peace process will be a complete failure,” Moussa said. “This is the time to stand up to Israel. We must find alternative options, because the situation appears to have reached a turning point.”

Speaking at the event, Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas said there would be no peace agreement without ending the occupation of Palestinian land, first and foremost east Jerusalem. He accused Prime Minster Binyamin Netanyahu's government of trying to create a de facto situation in Jerusalem that would torpedo any future peace settlement.

Abbas added that conflict in Jerusalem was dangerous and could ignite the entire Middle East.

Erdogan said that the Israeli position defining the whole of Jerusalem as its united capital was “madness.” Israeli construction in east Jerusalem was completely unjustified, he said.

----------

Once again, we see the real centerpiece of the entire peace process: Jerusalem - as predicted ~ 2,500 years ago. Amazing.

Also of note in this article is the thinly veiled threat contained in Moussa's quotes. If the peace process is considered as a failure, then warfare would predictably ensue - as, according to the enemies of Israel - the only thing preventing full scale war is the ongoing peace process.

Of course, in reality, the main intent of this "peace process" is to coax Israel into giving up as much land as possible before the next invasion, which is inevitable. If the terrorists groups/states were to occupy the Golan Heights, the West Bank and East Jerusalem, any future war against Israel would be far more favorable strategically and militarily to Israel's enemies.

One must always remember that the primary goal in the region remains - as always - the complete destruction of Israel. The so-called peace process is simply a means to create favorable conditions for yet another invasion of Israel.

Watching the Middle East right now is like watching two trains traveling towards each other - on the same track. A collision is inevitable, its just a matter of time before the two trains collide. At some point in the near future we will see Damascus destroyed, presumably during warfare between Israel and some combination of Syria-Lebanon-Hezbollah. Within that general timeframe the world will also see a massive invasion attempted against Israel - an invasion which will be thwarted by God Himself - directly and obviously. We seem to be moving rapidly towards these conflicts. Very rapidly.

  1. not to sound like a broken record but again i point out that the rift between the u.s. had to happen prior to psalm 83/damascus and Gog/Magog being fulfilled so it would be obvious God fights for isreal. now that the rift is there its open season. anything can happen.

  3. This is an extremely long comment so it will be 3-4 separate posts because of the limit on size. Sorry.

I'm awake at 4AM and have been since 2AM. Watching and praying! (WHERE ARE THE REST OF YOU!!?? haha)

In all seriousness though, I have been thinking about this current administration's posture toward Israel and it is quite upsetting. (And by the way, I know this has nothing to do with today's blog directly but it has everything to do with what Scott has dedicated his life to).

In any case I was looking at Zechariah 12:3 and if you look at that verse it states: "And in that day will I make Jerusalem a burdensome stone for all people: all that burden themselves with it shall be cut in pieces, though all the people of the earth be gathered together against it."

  4. There are multiple things in this verse that are overwhelmingly germane to what is happening right now.

First of all, this prophecy specifically speaks of Jerusalem--not Israel overall--but the city of Jerusalem. The insistence now that Jerusalem be split as part of the "peace process" is clearly new. There is not one country on the planet that I am aware of who has stated they are against this change in position by the U.S. Obviously, Scott has written that the EU has been alluding to this for many months, but the U.S.? Again Zechariah 12:3 states: "A burdensome stone for all people..."

At some level the literal and complete fulfillment of this phrase in Zechariah's prophecy wasn't true until a couple weeks ago when the U.S. appears to have taken the position that Jerusalem should be split. When I look at this presidency and the damage it has done to Israel in just 12 short months, I cannot help but imagine what happens over another three years--or another 7 years if the unthinkable were to happen.

The escalation of the world against Israel is happening quickly and the U.S. being complicit in that is new--and prophetic.

  5. But take a look at the next phrase of Zechariah 12:3 "...all that burden themselves with it shall be cut in pieces." I have sat with this part of Zech's prophecy for awhile now and cannot help but think that the U.S. is treading a very very foolish path against God that will end very badly for this nation.

I've often wondered what the role of the U.S. is in prophecy and the fact is we aren't visibly there. It has been extremely hard to imagine (until recently) how the U.S. could become weakened to the point of not playing a highly visible and leading role in what happens in the Middle East. Is it because God fulfills Zech 12:3b? I worry about this country right now and this administration has NO EARTHLY IDEA what it is doing.

"...though all the earth be gathered against it." (Zech 12:3c)

It just seems to me, that with the United States withdrawing its protective hand from Israel which one can only interpret the actions of the last 12 months is doing, the fulfillment of this verse is occurring right before our very eyes. I'm 46 years old, and I have never in my lifetime seen such a sudden fulfillment of prophecy as this one.

  6. Perhaps I'm overreacting but I've often felt that as long as the U.S. was strong toward Israel, things were in a holding pattern as it relates to prophecies like this one and by association the rest of end times fulfillment. But the fact is, I think this administration has taken an academic view of the Middle East that ends up agreeing with Israel's enemies. I believe the simplistic and academic reasoning the Obama administration has used goes something like this:

    1. We have spent trillions on war in the Middle East and it has created more enemies (not less) and diminished our security. Current strategy isn't working.
    2. The reason for those wars, at least in part, is the protection of Israel against her enemies.
    3. If we can get Israel to concede, the U.S. problem gets better. If they will not make concessions, we will force them to.

Do you get a sense that this administration is willing to let Israel be overtaken by her enemies in exchange for "security" here? I do and the consequences of that position cannot be overstated.

"And in that day will I make Jerusalem a burdensome stone for all people: all that burden themselves with it shall be cut in pieces, though all the people of the earth be gathered together against it."

It appears our country has brought fulfillment to Zechariah 12:3a. It's only a matter of time before Zechariah 12:3b and 12:3c are fulfilled as well unless we turn back very soon.

Thanks a lot for these insightful comments - and I wholeheartedly agree.

I can recall a few years ago - when we used to speculate that the U.S. "fall" could only occur because of the Rapture (which would disproportionately affect the U.S.)...because there seemed to be no evidence that the U.S. could experience a rapid decline in any other way.

Like a lot of things in prophecy, our speculation can be off a little....It now looks that the U.S. is clearly aiding and assisting Israel's enemies, while not only leaving Israel alone, but actively opposing Israel's existence (by helping their enemies).

Obama is no friend of Israel - and I hope thats clear to Netanyahu. (I believe it is).

Thanks again for the insightful and germane comments guys - much appreciated.

    Maranatha!
