The CIA report is the latest official study expressing concern over Iran's continuing nuclear activities. The International Atomic Energy Agency on March 3 issued a report warning that continuing nuclear activities in violation of U.N. resolutions raise "concerns about the possible existence in Iran of past or current undisclosed activities related to the development of a nuclear payload for a missile."
On missiles, the report said Iran is building more short- and medium-range ballistic missiles and stated that "producing more capable medium-range ballistic missiles remains one of its highest priorities."
Three test flights of a new 1,240-mile-range Sejil missile were conducted in 2009, the report said, noting that assistance from China, North Korea and Russia "helped move Iran toward self-sufficiency in the production of ballistic missiles."
The report also said that Iran has the capability of producing both chemical and biological weapons, and Tehran continued to seek dual-use technology for its bioweapons program.
"AFP: Undersea volcano threatens southern Italy"
Europe's largest undersea volcano could disintegrate and unleash a tsunami that would engulf southern Italy "at any time", a prominent vulcanologist warned in an interview published Monday.
The Marsili volcano, which is bursting with magma, has "fragile walls" that could collapse, Enzo Boschi told the leading daily Corriere della Sera.
"Our latest research shows that the volcano is not structurally solid, its walls are fragile, the magma chamber is of sizeable dimensions," he said. "All that tells us that the volcano is active and could begin erupting at any time."
The event would result in "a strong tsunami that could strike the coasts of Campania, Calabria and Sicily," Boschi said.
It is 70 kilometres long and 30 kilometres wide, and its crater is some 450 metres below the surface of the Tyrrhenian Sea.
"A rupture of the walls would let loose millions of cubic metres of material capable of generating a very powerful wave," Boschi said.
"Strong quake hits north of Andaman islands, India"
A strong 6.4 magnitude quake struck on Tuesday north of the Andaman Islands, an area devastated by the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami, but there were no immediate reports of damage or casualties.
It is absolutely bizarre that the only folks who aren't alarmed at Iran's nuclear capability (aside from Iran of course) is the Obama administration.
ReplyDeleteI know at some level this is part of God's plan but the fact that the American people are so blind to what is happening is heart wrenching. It's exactly as described in the Bible...
And although I know this didn't happen suddenly, I also know that I've just never witnessed such stark blindness on issues that are so enormous as what I have seen over the last year.
I agree 100%.
ReplyDeleteIts all part of preparing the world for the rise of the antichrist...Because when he arrives on the scene, there will be nothing BUT lies, distortions, deceptions, etc. The truth will be no where in sight.
We're just seeing this period out on the horizon - but approaching rapidly.
