120,000 Russian troops have gathered near Kremina and are preparing to move towards Kupyansk and Kharkiv, the former director of the Royal Institute of Defense Studies, Professor Michael Clarke, revealed on air.
The British analyst and professor sounds the alarm, stressing that Russia caught the West by surprise. If other Russian forces converge on Kharkiv from the Belgorod side, where they have recently been concentrated, then the situation will become very very difficult with the Ukrainians trapped in Zaporizhia.
However, the British professor is right in what he says: Despite the fact that the Ukrainians have mobilized 8 Brigades (two more were mobilized yesterday) in the wider area, they have not yet achieved anything.
The Russians are advancing step by step dismantling the Ukrainian trenches and fortifications with the images from the battlefields being very harsh.
Dozens dead, wounded and captured with Ukraine seemingly faltering on yet another front. The losses in the mercenary ranks are also great.
In recent weeks, the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation have been intensifying their operations in the Kremennaya region. The Russian army is gathering significant forces around it. These events are causing concern in the West.
Professor Michael Clarke, former director of Britain's Royal Institute of Defense Studies, notes with concern that Russia has strengthened its forces in this region. He emphasizes that the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation held "against all expectations" in Kremina.
Clark points out that tens of thousands of Russian troops are now concentrated there. According to some sources, there are up to 120 thousand people, although the professor himself considers this number somewhat exaggerated.
"The activation of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation near Kremennaya looks like the start of a Russian counterattack," concludes the British military expert.
"While the Ukrainians are advancing on these lines (Zaporizia and Yuzhno-Donetsk), it looks like the Russians will actually launch their own counteroffensive," Clark notes.
He emphasizes that the West has no idea what kind of troops are concentrated near Kremennaya, how many of them, what kind of weapons they have, what is the level of training of the personnel.
It is possible, Clark believes, that the Russian Forces will try to recapture the territories they lost in 2022 in the Kharkiv region.
For Ukraine, in light of the failed counteroffensive in the direction of Zaporizhia, such a turn of events does not bode well.
In particular, in case of success in this direction, the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation can launch an attack against Kharkiv itself.
The British analyst rang a "bell"...
