The Day of the Lord is the context. He speaks of the swift Judgement that came with Sodom and Gomorrah (in Luke & Matt), and with the flood, to those who had rejected God and were immersed in evil. Matthew 24 is without question, Jesus speaking to the Jewish People, however, we as His Church are observers of His Words of the times to come which allows us to "know the season" as Paul said. Matthew 24 serves a duel, parallel purpose for both those Jewish Believers during the Trib to come, and the Church. The world during the Trib will be under the delusion of the ac,Spiritually blind, a Christ-rejecting world, and His Coming will catch them by surprise just as His Judgement came through the flood of Noah's day, and the Judgement of Sodom and Gomorrah. His sudden appearance to enact His Judgement on the world, is what He is referencing. We don;t know what may happen on this side of the gathering up - I hope not, but they could....I'm one of those who believes that the passage in Matthew 24describing those being taken up in the context of the days of Noah, is in fact a reference to the Rapture - for good reasons. But that is in reference to the entire world, as given throughout Matthew 24 ('the world') - and I do believe if the US crashes, it will affect the world sooner or later (thats the rub) - but I'm guessing sooner. If we see a large (EU, US, S America etc) crash, then I'm not sure we are still in the days of Noah....Just random thoughts.
