Waking Up In An Orwellian World

Every day George Orwell's "1984" becomes  more and more a part of our reality. The whole premise of "2+2=5" is a fitting description of the world we are living in today.

The most recent example: Mr Trump proposes that we should temporarily discontinue allowing Muslim immigrants into the country until a system can be implemented which can effectively screen those who are entering into the United States. To anyone with greater than two connected brain cells, this seems like prudent action when considering what is happening in Europe and now, what is happening in the U.S. However the media and the establishment-globalists are apoplectic at these ideas and tied up in knots as the mere thought of such action evokes more emotion than we see after the typical cold-blooded mass murders, which is interesting but another topic for another day.

But this is where the Orwellian component comes into play. Mr. Trump has simply made a comment...an idea...a thought...a musing... It isn't law and it isn't anything that is presently happening in the U.S. today.

However, there is a reality of what is actually happening today and the facts are simple.

Christians are not being allowed into the country but Islamic immigrants are - in overwhelming numbers. And not a peep from the MSM. This is actually happening today and no one seems to care.

Let me repeat that. The reality and the facts are simple. Christians are not being allowed into the country but Islamic immigrants are - in overwhelming numbers. And not a peep from the MSM. This is actually happening today and no one seems to care.

Lets take a look at the facts - all while trying to ignore the dramatic, planned, contrived, over sensationalized emotions of the MSM.

The facts below aren't a proposal, or an idea - this is what is actually happening now in the U.S. --- Where is the outrage?

Since the Paris terror attacks on November 13, the State Department has admitted 237 Syrian refugees into the United States – 236 Sunni Muslims and one Christian (0.4 percent), according to data from the State Department Refugee Processing Center.

The Christian, a Greek Orthodox individual, is the sole non-Sunni Muslim admitted to the U.S. since the attack, which fueled concerns that the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS/ISIL) may move terrorists into Western nations under the cover of refugee resettlement programs.

According to the CIA World Factbook, Christians accounted for an estimated 10 percent of the Syrian population and Sunni Muslims for an estimated 74 percent when the conflict began in early 2011.

Of the 237 Syrian refugees permitted to resettle in the U.S. since November 13, 123 are male, 114 are female. Of the 237, 65 (27.4 percent) are men between the ages of 14 and 50, while 55 (23.2 percent) are women aged 14-50.

President Obama plans to resettle 10,000 Syrian refugees in the U.S. during fiscal year 2016. Since FY2016 began on October 1, a total of 528 Syrian refugees have been admitted into the U.S. They comprise 522 (98.8 percent) Sunni Muslims and six Christians – three Catholic, one Orthodox, one Greek Orthodox and one simply described as “Christian.”

Since the Syrian civil war began in mid-March 2011, a total of 2,401 Syrian refugees have been admitted into the U.S.  Of those, 2,241 (93.3 percent) were Sunni Muslims, an additional 60 were described simply as “Moslem,” and 13 were Shia.

Only 54 (2.2 percent) were Christian (including five Orthodox, one Greek Orthodox and four Catholics). The remaining religious breakdown was eight Jehovah’s Witness, six Zoroastrians, three atheists, two Baha’i, one Yazidi, seven “no religion” and six “other religion.”

“This follows the disturbing pattern that we have seen from the State Department of ignoring the particular targeting of Christians by ISIS, while giving preferential treatment for asylum to other groups with expedited processing — like Somalis, Iraqis, and Syrians, some of whom could very well be members of jihadist movements.”

“After Four Months, Why Are 20 Chaldean Iraqi Christians Who Fled ISIS Still Detained by Immigration Officials?,” by Ray Nothstine, Christian Post, July 10, 2015 (thanks to Pamela Geller):

Despite having family members to sponsor them, a group of 20 Chaldean Christians who fled ISIS have been detained for over four months at the Otay Detention Facility in San Diego. The large Chaldean community in Southern California are unhappy with the unexplained delays and are demanding their release.

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) claim they are undermanned and face a backlog of cases but have offered little to the media about the prolonged detention of the Chaldean 20.

Mark Arabo, an activist and spokesmen for the local Chaldean community says, “What we do know is that they are being held without a real reason.”
Arabo has pleaded with the highest levels of government demanding action for the group being held.
Arabo pointed out that the men and women in detention have been held too long even by the government’s own standards. The vast majority of foreign nationals detained or arrested by ICE are released under some form of supervision, according to their own statement.

“This follows the disturbing pattern that we have seen from the State Department of ignoring the particular targeting of Christians by ISIS,” said McDonnell, “while giving preferential treatment for asylum to other groups with expedited processing — like Somalis, Iraqis, and Syrians, some of whom could very well be members of jihadist movements.”

At the end of World War II, the Jewish survivors of Europe’s Holocaust found that nearly every door was closed to them. “Tell Me Where Can I Go?” was a popular Yiddish song at the time. Decades later, the Christians of the Middle East face the same problem, and the Obama administration is keeping the door shut.
America is about to accept 9000 Syrian Muslims, refugees of the brutal war between the Assad regime and its Sunni opposition, which includes ISIS, Al Qaeda, and various other militias. That number is predicted to increase each year.  There are no Christian refugees that will be admitted.

Why? Because the Department of State is adhering with all the rigidity of a Soviet era bureaucracy to the rule that only people at risk from massacres launched by the regime qualify for refugee status. The rapes of Christian women and the butchery of Christian children do not count. No matter how moved Americans were this Christmas season by the plight of their fellow Christ followers in Syria and Iraq, no matter how horrific the visuals of beheadings, enslavement, and mass murder, the Christians fleeing death do not engender the compassion of this president.

The Christians are being raped, tortured, and murdered by militias, not by the Syrian government. This technicality condemns them to continue to be victims without hope. And this technicality is being adhered to with all the tenacity with which President Franklin D. Roosevelt’s State Department manipulated quotas and created subterfuges  to keep out the Jews fleeing the oppression of Nazi Germany. Obama no more wants the Middle East’s Christian refugees than Roosevelt wanted Europe’s Jewish refugees.

We have seen in the last several weeks that President Obama has no difficulty using his “phone and his pen,” as he dramatically boasts, to circumvent the law. When it comes to immigration, he had no difficulty enacting an amnesty that a federal judge  subsequently ruled unconstitutional. He has had no problem circumventing Congress to change the relationship with Cuba. This president has shown that he will push back on the constraints of law when he wants to get something done.
But there are not even such constraints when it comes to the Middle East’s Christians fleeing the brutality of ISIS and Al Qaeda. The Department of State chooses to adhere to a definition of refugees as people persecuted by their own government. What difference does it make which army imperils the lives of innocent Christians?  Christians are still be slaughtered for being Christian, and their government is incapable of protecting them. Does some group have to come along—as Jewish groups did during the Holocaust—and sardonically guarantee that these are real human beings?

Great commentary Scott! You nailed it and it is so frustrating on the media spin. Even Russell Moore with the Southen Baptist threw Trump under the bus!😡

WV - its mind-boggling isn't it? Everything is upside down, and that is manifest every day. Its hard to get your hands around it, its so bizarre and surreal. As if reality is being completely twisted and distorted- some days it hits harder than others. Today was one of those days. We are so so so close to the Tribulation.....Which means we are closer to the gathering up....
