Billy Graham To Mark 95th Birthday With Message

This promises to be very good and also very interesting. In his last sermon (the transcripts have been made available in the form of a book) in 2006, he discussed the imminence of Christ's return with a focus on Matthew 24. It will be interesting to see if he returns to that theme. Regardless, he has probably preached the gospel message more effectively than anyone else in our generation:

Evangelist Billy Graham's voice is softer and his body weaker, but the man who helped transform Christianity in America and counseled U.S. presidents will reach out to the nation on his 95th birthday in an effort to revitalize the church.

Graham, who has not preached publicly since 2006 because of frail health, has filmed a public message to air on national television on his November 7 birthday, giving fans a rare and possibly final opportunity to see the man dubbed "America's Pastor."
"Our country is in great need of a spiritual awakening," Graham says in a program titled "The Cross." "With all my heart, I want to leave you with the truth."
Graham's message is at the heart of what the Charlotte, North Carolina-based association bearing his name calls its largest evangelism effort in the United States in its 63-year history.
It comes at a time when most U.S. evangelical leaders say they are losing influence, studies show Americans increasingly do not identify with any religion and many young people are unaware of Graham's legacy.
"The students that I teach don't really know who Billy Graham is," said Anne Wills, a religion professor at Davidson College outside of Charlotte. "They don't have any idea about the scope of his influence."

As much as I like and respect Billy Graham, let us never forget, that God is our salvation. To him, all the praise and glory and honor.

There are many reasons WHY stocks have not crashed yet, but I think the
biggest one is the Graham Crusade
coming up in a few days.

sadly, the very FACT that many are praying for Jesus to with hold
Jugement on America until after
the crusade is over COULD be self
defeating.

why ??

cos many people will NOT BE MOTIVATED to REPENT with a dow at
almost 16,000.....(ie, gays on
Real Jock, brokers on WS, ect)

right now, we got business as usual. I would think that a
MOTIVATION to turn to GOD
would come cos of pressure
and fear of judgement.

we do NOT have that now,
most certainly NOT in the stock
market.

I am sure that many will turn
to Jesus, BUT the numbers
will not be all that great.

a CRASH would change that.

what crash ??

there is NO crash now.

sad.

I love Billy Graham! Will be praying hard that this last message is Spirit packed and as clear as the Gospel message can be.
I came to the Lord before I ever heard him preach but every time in ensuing years that I would hear him I was deeply moved. Each time I'd tell the Lord," If I did not already know you jesus,I would do it all over again right now.
"Just as I am,without a plea, O Lamb of God I come to Thee. I come. I come."
May many be drawn to their first love again

Billy Graham ALWAYS points directly to Jesus for salvation, never-ever to himself. I'm not sure what the point here is (?).

I love BG. I remember going to a crusade in Pittsburgh in late 60's or early 70's. I grew up watching him on TV many times with my parents at home as a child too. I'll be praying with you Waterer that this is spirit filled and spirit led....and Stephen, you may just be right on this one. God could be waiting to give Americans one last opportunity to repent before the business as usual time (Days of Noah) expires for the church age? Time will tell.

I sang in the Billy Graham choir for 7 straight days when he appeared in Buffalo in 1988. That and the Israel trip were the spiritual highlights of my life. One night before the service began we were rehearsing when a driving rainstorm knocked out all the power. So in a huge downpour the entire choir started singing "Lift Jesus Higher;" and the director was clapping along with us. It was just a memorable scene. I will also be praying for the man as he gives perhaps his final message and warning to the world.

I came across this poem on the internet. Thought it was awesome.
Has anyone see it before? Its called ''When I Say Im A Christian'' by Carol Wimmer

When I say, “I am a Christian”
I’m not shouting, “I’ve been saved!”
I’m whispering, “I get lost sometimes
That’s why I chose this way”

When I say, “I am a Christian”
I don’t speak with human pride
I’m confessing that I stumble -
needing God to be my guide

When I say, “I am a Christian”
I’m not trying to be strong
I’m professing that I’m weak
and pray for strength to carry on

When I say, “I am a Christian”
I’m not bragging of success
I’m admitting that I’ve failed
and cannot ever pay the debt

When I say, “I am a Christian”
I don’t think I know it all
I submit to my confusion
asking humbly to be taught

When I say, “I am a Christian”
I’m not claiming to be perfect
My flaws are far too visible
but God believes I’m worth it

When I say, “I am a Christian”
I still feel the sting of pain
I have my share of heartache
which is why I seek God’s name

When I say, “I am a Christian”
I do not wish to judge
I have no authority
I only know I’m loved

No , nothing against Billy Graham at all. I was eluding to whomever wrote the story.....it was all pointing to him, and understandingly so, the syory was about him.it just made me reflect that Rev. Graham would always point out God and never stand himself as the focal point. My point was all about the author's position.....

Billy Graham is a fallen human being, as we all are, but God has used him as, "One crying in the wilderness" of our worldwide post-modern societies. I am one of countless others to take that walk onto a college football field where Dr. Graham had given the invitation to come forward & pray the Sinner's Prayer. Yes, Jesus Christ is the message, but without those like Dr. Graham who have dedicated their lives where would the message be?
