More news...

There are a few more stories (in addition to the persecution headline below) making the prophetic news today:

"Turkey to give Hizbullah weapons"

Turkey and Iran are rumored to be helping Hizbullah obtain new weapons, Italian daily Corriere Della Sera reported on Wednesday evening.

Sources told Corriere Della Sera that Turkey will "send sophisticated weapons, rockets and guns to Syria, that will end up in Lebanon," where, the Iranian Army will ensure the weapons are transferred to Hizbullah.

The Iranian Revolutionary Guards "will facilitate the transition, ensure safety, watch loads on the routes, and provide support to the border," the report said.

The Iranians reportedly want to build a weapons network similar to that in the Sudan, and hopes to help Hamas, as well.

The Italian newspaper reported that Western intelligence sources "view the Turkish-Iranian plot with concern, as they are obvious risks to safety."

This is just more evidence that Turkey is aligned squarely against Israel - exactly as the prophetic scriptures indicated.

"Netanyahu rejects peace talks based on 1967 borders"

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu yesterday rejected a Palestinian demand that direct negotiations be based on a statement by the Quartet confirming its position that the future Palestinian state will be based on the 1967 borders.

The Quartet - the United States, the United Nations, the European Union and Russia - issued the statement after a meeting in Moscow on March 19. It calls for 24 months of talks between Israel and the PA that would result in an agreement on the establishment of a Palestinian state.

The statement said that the founding of the Palestinian state would end the occupation that began in 1967. It also called on Israel to institute a total freeze of construction in West Bank settlements and to refrain from home demolitions in East Jerusalem. The declaration even went so far as to mention that the international community does not recognize Israel's annexation of East Jerusalem.

Palestinian journalists who met with Abbas this week said they came away with the impression that he is determined to move forward in negotiations with Israel but will not back down on long-established Palestinian positions. Despite international criticism of his refusal to begin negotiations, Abbas is insistent on an agreed framework for discussions prior to the start of direct talks.

Below, we see more on the build-up to war in the Middle East:

"USS Truman posted opposite Hormuz as Iranian threats spiral"

To meet increasingly defiant Iranian threats to US regional military forces, Washington has detached the USS Truman carrier from support duty for Afghanistan in the Arabian Sea and reassigned it to Dubai opposite the Gulf of Oman and the Straits of Hormuz with thousands of marines aboard.

Reporting this, DEBKAfile's military sources note that the Iranian submarine attack on a Japanese oil supertanker last month near Hormuz underlined the urgency of heightened security for keeping the vital straits open.

Our Iranian sources note that Tehran keeps track of - and responds instantly with fleet deployments of its own - to every US naval movement in a broad radius from its shores - from the Red Sea in the North, to the Gulfs of Aden and Oman in the East, the Horn of Africa in the west and the southern approaches to the Indian Ocean.

DEBKAfile of April 22, 2010, first revealed that Iran was preparing a fleet of speedboats for striking American air carriers. (To read this article click here.)

The USS Truman Strike force carries 6,000 marines and sailors and Carrier Wing Three consisting of seven Battle Axe squadrons. It leads a flotilla of four more vessels: the guided missile cruiser USS Normandy, the guided missile destroyer USSWinston S. Churchill, the USS Oscar Austin destroyer and the guided missile destroyer USS Ross.

Iran will most likely respond to this recent action by the U.S.

The build-up to war continues.

Hello Scott
Just watched the tv evening news. Did you know that the US is eating steak from cloned animals? They cloned from a dead bull which had first been tasted for the quality of the steak, and the embryo put into selected cows. The resulting calves were eventually slaughtered and their meat has been sold in the shops and restaurants for some time now. An American lady said most citizens were not aware of this?

I had no idea on this. Hmmm....I don't know what to think of that one.

I guess its getting to where you have to grow your own food and have your own livestock!

Scott,

I know you don't agree with me that the beast will be an Islamist who will come out of the middle east and call himself the Mahdi and/or the 12th imam, but here's another little tidbit (found in a commentary by the Washington Times) that points to one of the things the beast will seek to do, which is 'change the set times and laws' (Daniel 7:25).

http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2010/aug/11/no-time-for-islam/

Don't forget, the Roman empire lasted about a thousand years longer in the middle east than it did in Europe. One day you'll agree with me. '-)

You and me both, it has just started here as well.

2 things: 1)good for netanyahu. i pray that he stands firm. he`s stood firm before then caved at the last minute. i pray he dont do that again. 2) the armies that destroyed the temple were the 10th and 15th legion. tho turks and persians and others were in the roman army the 10th and 15th legion were all europeans. furthermore God will use the anti-christ to destroy false Gods and religions (including allah) i think after psalm 83 and ezekiel 38&39) islam will see a mass exodus.

hartdawg said...

in fact, there are prophecies that say false Gods will deminish (during the tribulation) and even some that say arabs will seek the messiah. i doubt the anti-christ will be a muslem. in fact, i believe for a moslem to declare himself God flies in the face of islam.

hartdawg said...

just one more thought on this: there are 3 major mono-theistic religions that would stand in the way of anti-christ, christianity, judaoism and islam. islam suffers a mortal blow during psalm 83, isaiah 17 and ezekiel 38&39, christians are raptured and the jews sign a covenant. this is for some reason a very sensitive subject and much bickering has broken out over it which is not only uncalled for, but sinful and wrong. personally, i dont plan to be here to find out. tho i dont think he`ll be a muslem, my focus is on jesus christ not anti-christ. if one believes he`ll be a muslem he`ll still be raptured. its fun to talk about and even debate. thats great. just dont divide over it.

Scott,

You are correct, I had suggested that the 10 nation confederation might be based in the mid-east rather than in Europe; I think that was our actual point of contention, though as you have pointed out many times, for us it's only an academic exercise.

Thanks again for this superb blog, it is a great help to me in my attempts to watch for His coming.

Thanks a lot Glenn (I somehow erased my earlier message by accident, I was trying to erase an inappropriate spam) - anyway - I'm not even sure about the ten kings aspect. I think that could fall into one of several scenarios

Hart - one more thing that is worth remembering (under any scenario) --

There will be a false religion during the first 1/2 of the Tribulation which I believe could be a hybrid of RCC and Islam (just my opinion) - or perhaps some kind of new age "blend" of all religions....The AC will end this as he "ascends" to the Temple to proclaim himself as god - and then - the previous false religion (whatever that is) will end and the new religion will be worship of the AC, as led by the FP.

Thats how I see it anyway.

hartdawg said...

thats true, scott. personally, i think the one world religion will be a united blend of all religions. including apostate "christianity" you might find this interesting, once a friend of mine was witnessing to a muslem and apparently there are a lot of muslems who go for the "your religions best for you and mine is the best for me" you know that line i`m sure

by the way, you`re still getting spam and inappropriate comments?

Hartdawg,

Take a look at Islamic end times prophecy; you will be amazed at how it mirrors Biblical prophecy: their evil is our good and our good (in fact, our God--Jesus) is their evil. I agree, no sane Muslim would declare himself to be his god. But, the beast -who will eventually be possessed by Satan, of course--won't declare himself to be god at first, he gets the world to follow him first then claims to be god in conjunction with desecrating the next Jewish Temple.

I seem to recall that the turks were involved with the destruction of Jerusalem (under Italian leadership of course). But I'd argue that the passages in Daniel you refer to could easily be interpreted to include the mid-east in any event.

Also, as a practical matter, after the Church has been removed, what force can possibly stop the Islamic onslaught?

As noted before, it's academic for us; but I still enjoy discussing the matter with people who know the Word. So thanks to all.

Still getting span, but I now have a span detector which has been picking up the bi-weekly porn attempt, so I may take off the screening thing. I hate having it and I am sure its inconvenient. I noticed that Mike over at RaptureAlert has to screen as well, fwiw.

hi glenn:
its my belief that islam stole alot of its theology from the bible then twisted it. (a lot of cults do that as well) thats why its important to know the word, deception seems to be rampent these days.
